- Lightening up the kayak and committing to fishing shallow in the flooded trees loaded with fish. Bite should be epic, right?

Glad that with all the fancy stuff Greg has on the yak that he’s still using the same “anchor” I use 😂
best anchor in the game for yaks
hahah hard to beat
@@GregBlanchardFishing haha I fish saltwater so I use a 10lb steel weight. Hasn’t failed me yet 🤷🏼♂️
What anchor is that?
@@lancebettisfishing just a 10lb dumbbell 😂 cost effective and it works.
Hey, soup shouted you out on the unsub podcast. Love the content. Subbed
It's reassuring to see that even Greg gets caught up in the trees.
Also, *slap* you had a great day, you weren't stuck at home working a desk job! 😀 Keep the great content rolling!
Love the whiskey throttle @ 6:09😂
Friday early AM with a cup of coffee, watching another awesome GB video. What else can you ask for?
Coffee time with Greg B! Good morning, y’all
Wait a minute.......
Greg......
A good or bad day fishing is just another day at work for you! 😂
Thanks for taking us along again.
If there were awards for kayak video cinematography that opening scene would win.
When fishing on a lake in the mountains and actually catch fish is tough you know you’ve made it! Greg is the best TH-camr keep the videos coming.
Great video like always!!
I rarely get a good night sleep the night before fishing thinking about that tug. Post spawn can be tough. Thanks for the video 👍🎣
Greg good morning and thank you for sharing your day experience on the lake. Yes the day was tough a hard grind to get your first fish but I totally liked the way you talk yourself through it and understood the sweet and the sour of fishing! You can show tournament, practice or just out trying a technique to me it’s fishing and there is nothing like it you would find another hobby. We love all these videos and you’re sharing your journey with us and honestly I’m hooked and can’t stop watching them. Your a teachable angler which means you want all you can take from these fishing experiences and I’ve been inspired to look at that position it’s important in a beginner bass angler do thank you Greg so much until the next one take care and God bless!!!!
Great video as usual, man! Love the content! Been watching for well over a year now and you are sticking true to who you are and how you started. Great to anglers like you doing what now is considered old school without all the electronics on deck.
appreciate the kinds words. Yep, just love fishing. i have a great kayak and gear that i've accumulated over my life but would be happy fishing from the bank too
Sorry for the headache of fish not biting! Thanks for letting us have fun with you!!
THanks for coming along!
Another solid video, despite the bad day! Keep up the good work!
yes, the surprise of top water even though you're throwing it and expecting a bite. That's part of what keeps us coming back! Great vid Greg, love seeing how you figure stuff out, even when you kinda don't :)
haha thank you!
"Sucky days are part of the game". They really are... we all have them, but it's still amazing to get out there and embrace the challenge. It's exciting to watch you fish, even when you're not having the best if days. Keep grinding and I'll keep watching, Greg!
RESPECT to the opening sequence! Your visual storytelling is getting better and better !!!
thank you sir!
Dude Greg! This video was like deja vu… it almost seemed like one of my days at the water. Never can find out what they want.
Greay vide keep up the awesome work!
Watching this pretty scenery was a relief after getting up at the crack of dawn to hold an annual garage sale in my neighborhood. The sale of excess fishing gear we were trying to unload was a fizzle. It reminded me of that bush that attacked you lol. The bright side of where you were - no boat traffic 😊
Continue collecting that Vitamin D and sharing your adventures, thanks!
*slap
Thanks for taking us along GB!
Now that's fishing. Sometime it takes all day.
Well it was a nice day & no skunk but your right I fished a spot this morning that I knew had fish & I saw a 3 pounder & a bunch of dinks but I only caught one little one on a soft bait. The fish were there but definitely not bitting. But no skunk & it was a nice morning. 👍
Spark up and tight lines y’all!
Can't blame you for chasing that topwater bite, you have been locked into the dropshot most this year!
No skunk 🦨 right? And a gorgeous sunny day to be on the water!!! I call that success because I got to watch another great video of yours👍🏼❣️See you next time!
Well, at least you have been able to get on the water! The only decent river I have to fish near me has been flooded for weeks! I still enjoy your videos even if you have a hard day...
😂 A bad day for you at work is still a great day for the average guy. I wish I could have bad days like this 😂.
6:05 minutes in. EPIC blooper 🤣… Happens to the best of us
just glad all my rods survived🤣
@@GregBlanchardFishing definitely.
Thanks Greg. That ghost throttle tree smash was so true.
I had the same experience there two weeks ago. Inexplicable!
I’ll say this you put me on game with the native kayaks back in 2019 and then again with the yak attack paddle holder and paddle on the side I’ve been pedaling for years and always left my paddle in the back in the holders until recently deciding to try how you do it and it’s awesome. I bought a a cheap a single sided paddled for it so I can use it to push off stuff and knock lures lose etc. just great idea
What a beautiful fishery. Always enjoy watching and learning from you. Although sometimes I find myself reminiscing your black chatterbait, booyah padcrasher, cheater jig days. Gotta get you over here in florida so we can hammer em!💯🎣
I went fishing a couple days ago with a popper….they were literally knocking the bait out of the water and not getting hooked……CRAZY!!! 😂😂😂❤❤❤❤
Shorts and white bass 🤓
@@Abe_Sinclair No whities, but def some small largies…..I don’t even think they were opening their mouth….just head butting the bait out of the water. Lol
such a tease!
Maybe upsize the popper. That extra weight might help.
Bruh, same. I get to hyped before going out fishing and I cant sleep! i end up staying up all night watching fishing videos and rigging. Next morning I am too tired to wake up early lol.
hahah and we'll keep doing it
Greg - you still gotta try Lexington Reservoir in Santa Cruz mountains of Highway 17. Lots of big ones in there and no gas boats allowed. Gets a bit windy but was my favorite spot when I lived in San Jose.
That whopper plopper blow up was a pattern. Work it real slow like just fast enough to plop for like 10ft then pause for 5 seconds then start reeling same speed again and rinse and repeat back to the boat. I noticed they were around wood cover mostly. I caught quite a few nice fish doing this in early may in PA
good on ya greg keep up the great cotent mate
content my bad
Hey Greg you should get one of those triple hooks that has a blade on it and put it on your popper on the front treble hook That's what I use especially when there's bait flickering up top
Where'd you learn to sigh ? Take a deep breath Greg 😊 I pretty much watch all your content . West coast's best black bass content creator in my opinion 👌
Nice video, not too bad for a slow day of fishing.
Hey Greg, great video as always. I think you should start investing into some fluke style baits. Fishing them weightless around this time of the year always works well. Especially if they aren’t biting topwaters.
gotta add the fluke to my arsenal!
I enjoyed watching you sending yourself into the tree.
That is a beautiful area of the lake and like you said definitely fishy looking 👍
Lets go! I look forward to the videos every 4 days! Come back to the finger lakes and fish the june 1st tourney on cayuga brother!
Was thinking to hit the waters today but this'll suffice 😴, thanks GB
Favorite and only Commiefornia fisherman, thank you for your expertise and grace🙏🏼in presentation of video, no hype
That was a tough one Greg ,I don't know if I missed it but I didn't see you throw a Spinner bait ??? And it was a bright blue sunny day which always makes it tough. That's fishin lol. Thanks for the video bro can't wait for the next one.
@18:33 please accept a virtual slap “it’s a good fishing bud”
The caption Bed Small I misread as bad smell. Rough day. You caught a couple.
That is so true. The first top water strike of the day always catches me off guard !
Greg it’s like that everywhere in California I’m catching them only on a drop shot with a 3 inch hologram fluke bait but you have to put the baits right on there’s noses. Yup thanks brother Greg Dennis from Brentwood California ciao Bella buddy
Spring time . Fish are always where the river enters the lake. Thats where the bait is spawned....shad etc.
When it's a tough day you'll be surprised what happens when you keep a glide in your hands. They sometimes are completely turned off anything else except the bigger baits.
man you said it,. could be the wrong glide but i threw the gantarel quite a bit throughout the day but no bites or even followers
Greg fish a stunna around those submerged trees. That’s a guaranteed bite
That's fishing 😊.
That looks like a fun lake, yesterday in my last video I was catching them in the deeepest brush
When you were missing the top water, I thought you might throw a wacky rig as a follow up.
buddy your optimism is infectious and I live for it
That choppo strike was insane. Some lakes you need a couple days to figure it out.
That first blow up was a BIGGIN
heart breaker!
Hi Greg, love your videos. One thing I never see you fish is a tailspinner like the Deracoup for example. How come? It's one of my absolute favorites and it catches tons of fish for me...
I noticed you cut the portion of you getting yourself unstuck from the tree. I’m guessing that segment would have changed the rating to R?! Probably made Mike blush with some of the words you said ! 😂😂
I put a small pair of pruners in my setup. Helps out when I get hung up.
Bro I the whopper plopper is my favorite top water and I swear the bass only hit it half the time when you’ve got the lure half way back to the boat and you’re half ass retrieving it and it makes you jerk like you did. I do it all the time. I have to force my self to laser focus when I throw one so I don’t miss half my fish 😂 seeing someone as good as you doing the same thing made me laugh
When in doubt, slow it down. Lake looks perfect with a lot of potential.
Could be they fed all night. Maybe an evening bite? Always a fun video. Sometimes the struggle can be just as fun as the tug. Hence why so many baits and empty checking accounts. 😂
Hi Greg, have you ever come out to Sonoma County? there are a ton of small public ponds perfect for your Kayak and also a lake called Lake Sonoma with good fishing. Spring Lake that's in Santa Rosa was known for giant bass in the past years.
Been a long time subscriber, thank you for making your video's, living my fishing days through your videos since raising 2 daughters. I know you use alot of baits, but you might give bright/subtle color floating worms (trick worm merthiolate color) a try, especially this time of the year. It wasnt that long ago that you started using spinnerbaits and now it's in your starting lineup. Just need to catch some and get some confidence. I get a similar thrill, like a topwater bite, when working a trick worm in shallow cover, then it suddenly disappears and a bass is having its way with you. Just saying...hope to see a new type of bait in your line-up.
👍✌️ Soldier 10 hours on the water with only four or five little fish to show for it.... is 1,000 times better than punching a clock 9 to 5 and have no fish to show for, lol.. take a bucket with you next time soldier, think you can figure that 1 out rite?? Lol..✌️👍
4:00, let's go!😎🎣
Let’s go mr g
I think the bass like when you use the graph free setup because you can't whack them off of it when you boat flip them 😂
IMO. If you're are up that early you need to be fishing the low light shad spawn from dusk till sunrise those lmb are on shad till the sun peaks. I need line in at 430 and usually fire till 6ish, depending on the hills. Video starts at 8 lol. If you start at 8 you need to thro IN the cover.
Bluebird skies,no wind ,middle of the day always makes it a tough for me ...
Can someone tell me what trailer Greg uses to get his Titan in the water?
I’m not gunna lie, every time them carp are in the shallows…. I leave immediately
Newbie question perhaps, but why? Do they scare off other fish?
@@MikeMarlatt I’ve been fishing that lake for years and I’ve personally hated bass fishing around carp at the north east end of the lake. Not sure why it’s that way…. Maybe it’s operator error 😂 I know the carp are very active and disruptive tho when they spawn, I’m sure that’s gotta have something to do with it.
i just discovered this channel but have you fished Baum lake CA, its up pass Burney ca it's the first lake before crystal lake hatchery. it might be bass and trout but there's for sure some biggins
Cast to the right or left of the blow up or the exact spot they usually swirl around checking it out again😂
what happened to the trusty wacky rig or spinnerbait? Good stuff!
threw it a bunch actually but no love
Does he just have a huge SD card and keeps the back camera running? What kind of external battery would he use for the GoPros? I have so many questions about his tech set-up lol.
That first blow up was at least a five pounder...how do they miss the trebles? My shirts, jackets and pants never do !!
Crazy. Water temp for me in colorado is still 55ish.
❤️🎣
which lake is this?
Greg, have you tried throwing the popmax? In my opinion the best popper on the market!
What lake is this
Dude I think it’s a Cali thing these bass are funky this year but in Texas they are exploding. This year is a little cooler so I’m guessing that’s why.
what lake is this?
This that lake below Clear Lake?
Okay okay.
3:43 ish time frame. You’re throwing the plopper or choppo, whatever. You stop to reach or do something. Start reeling again and bam 💥 you get that huge blowup!
This is a sign that slowing down with top water really makes a difference!
Yessirrrr
Next time try a jerkbait for those stubborn fish that don't bite. Work it erratic and don't pause gets them worked up
Heard the deltas been on fire.... No walking baits? Should of walked/spit the "Popper"
5:20
The bass was probably asking the same question.
How did he not hook me with all them treble hooks?
😂
Booyah
When there eating the weight like that switch to a ned or big swim bait and drag it right through they’ll eat it
This year has been my worst spawn bass fishing ever, no clue why the aren't biting what i always throw this time of year, its absolutely wild. Bass be like that i guess.
I would have started with the toxic wake before anything
Note to self... remove the magnet key from the speed controller!! 6:06
🤣🤣🤣
Secret spot?
