Girl thanks so much! I'm a 24 year old African American man and had been trying to find a foundation shade for myself and was like experimenting with a few shades I originally used Classic Tan 335 because, at the time, this was the darkest my skin on my face was due to years of no sunscreen, tanning, sports and just not taking care of my skin. This shade was wayy dark and I lost my "tan" after getting into skin care and taking care of my skin, plus Covid kept us indoors, which equals no more sun exposure lol.
So I was like let me tone it down and I bought Golden Caramel 332. I thought that worked but I had gotten even a bit lighter to the point where this foundation was the right coloration (brown with Yellow/gold undertones) but the shade was wrong still too dark.
So I stumbled upon your video and purchased this based on your review and similar skin color to mine. SIS! This was SPOT ON! I initially (like you) thought that this was "too light" but then I was like well I'd rather have it be a bit lighter and oxidize than be too dark.
I put it on and was actually like why tf does it look so red?? I was scared af because I (like a 🤡) decided to wait till I had an event to attend to try it on fully (I swatch tested before and it worked then). But as it settled it litterally melted into a very very very close match to my skin.
SO THANKS ALEXIS 🥰🤗! You are a real one and I know this video is old, but it was valuable for me.
What I learned about this whole process and finding foundation:
- don't rely too much on the models they show to pick a shade. I initially chose Classic Tan 335 because the product was close to my skin tone but the model was also Black like me. When in actuality this shade was/because noticably too dark. I could have started with Golden Caramel 332 and when down from there after my tan went away which could have saved me money.
- As a person of color with parents of two entirely different skin colors, your skin might be 2, 3, or even 4 different shades and when factoring in skincare and sun exposure, you make need a few shades of foundations. My dad has skin that is considered very light for African American standards while my mother has very Dark skin. My skin color has varied enough where I have been the darkest of medium brown as a kid playing outside with no sunscreen to light brown after years of no sun exposure and better skincare. So it gets rough trying to keep a consistent shade lol.
I'm no makeup expert so it took me a minute to realize all of these things. Whew, that was a long one 😆😅.
If you're looking for a more yellow based version I'm pretty sure 310 - Sun beige would be absolutely perfect. This shades looks great too. But when it runs out try the 310 it has a great golden undertone.

some of the estee laurder brands are bobby brown, bumble and bumble, clinique, glam glow, mac, smashbox, and tom ford. and probably a lot more. so im sure that some of their products are the same, just different prices. like the anastasia of beverly hills brow wiz pencil is made at the same location as the nyx brow pencil. they seem to be the exact same to me!!
l'oreal, lancome, maybelliene, armani, ysl, nyx, garnier, essie, urban decay, clarisonic, shu uemura all have the l'oreal parent company.
I have the l'oreal pro-matte and i really really like it but i wish it was a little less matte and more smoothing.Do you think the maybelliene is that?

My CVS & Walgreens has 240 in BOTH formulas! It says new shade, so your stores may be getting it soon. I originally bought the Matte + Poreless in 310, but I'm thinking 240 might be better for me, too.
Girl the Maybelline foundation is my holy grail....there concealer is bomb too...plus its within a reasonable price range...luv it.....btw luv when you do reviews I've been tempted to checkout Physician Formula ha e you tried any of their products???...if so whats you take on them???...xoxo girly :)

I had the same problem, I thought warm honey was a little off but when I tried it on it looked perfect! I just wish it had more yellow in it. Through out the day I noticed I got oily so I had to touch up a couple times. But over all I like it! Not bad lol
Eyeshadow is sooo perfect!
You have such nice skin, mine is so oily and I do use the Maybelline Fit but with Lancombe 24 hour to keep the oily control down. I would like to purchase the LA girl foundation but I think it will be too oily like the Maybelline Fit.

Weirdly, the warm honey for the dewy version suits me perfectly even though I'm a bit darker skinned than you. It is for moderately warm brown skin tones because it has the beige in it, so leaning neutral. The bottles are usually very misleading, and you can only tell after you swipe it on your skin and see how it sits after it oxidises.

I have it and I wear it with primer and powder in the morning. I think it holds up a lot better throughout the day. Sometimes I've noticed oiliness around my nose peeking through after wearing for most of the day, but for me it's nothing major or that a quick powder touch up can't fix.

Nice video! I tried this foundation for the first time yesterday and I loved it! I did use a primer, matte setting powder, and setting spray however.
I tried both and I agree with you the Loreal infallible matte foundation Is hands down better than this one... although I don't hate it I'm gonna have to use it up cuz I can't let it go to waste..Thank you for the review and as always you make me crack up 😂

This video was good and for the record I did the exact thing you did when buying it. I bought 240 and 322 and my color was 322 I couldn't take the 240 back bec I misplaced receipt.I love the foundation..

I’m shade 332 (golden caramel) but it’s almost exactly the same as 322 (warm honey) slightly very lightly darker. And I’m combo to oily and it stays matte on my face allllll day!!! But maybe cuz I use a matte spf underneath. And it’s soooo good.

Great video. I have a hard time with foundation. I cant stand the way it feels on my face. But i really need it. And my face is super oily so it just seems to look and feel oiler.

I had the same results I love the coverage of it is amazing and it looks so good on camera ! If it would've stayed matte for more than a couple of hours I would've been in love. But it's still so great for camera it looks amazing you

I just purchased this foundation I wasn't too sure on the color being a good match on my skin. May I ask what other shades from different brands do you use? Maybe I can reference to that. From Mac I'm an NC42 but that makes me look a little orange. Greg review. You're a riot! Subscribed!!!

I'm an NC44/45 and I use 330 toffee caramel. Hope it helps.
smilingsince87 I'm suppose to be a NC42 (I say suppose because I was matched to NC42 but never bought it).
I wear a mix of L'Oreal W7 with a touch of W8 because I think W7 is too light for me and W8 is definitely too dark. N6.5 fit me perfectly unfortunately it's a bit of a pink undertone rather than yellow undertone.
I recently found my shade in NYX's Stay Matte which is Sienna SMF11 (I tried SMF07 and SMF10 prior).
It's super hard to match my skin tone ...I hardly venture with foundations because of this.
***** funny enough this foundation didn't match me all that well...it looked a bit dark (I could see the difference in shade between my face and neck. I also find that it's a bit red...I don't think this is a true yellow undertone but maybe I didn't apply correctly. I used a brush rather than a sponge...granted sponge application is heavier than brush.
I'll give it another try but I was thinking of maybe getting the 310 and mixing...sigh...I'm so tired of mixing tho LOL.
Also, did it oxidize on you? Because I feel like it got a bit darker later down the day (for me).
I like how this foundation is a true matte...the NYX Stay Matte feels wet/tacky on my face...it's like it never dries.
Johanna Rogers I'm nc42 in Mac as well... Try 240 in golden beige in the fit me and I also use 330 toffee for my darker shaded areas...they work peeerrrfect together!
MsNicolT 240 in the matte or regular one? If you mean the regular Fit me, isn't that one suppose to be really oily? I have combination skin and foundations such as NYX's Stay Matte Not Flat seem to never dry/set on me. I'm thinking maybe the regular Fit Me would do the same. Also, did I mention that this foundation (in this video) is a tad pink undertone. That irks me a bit because I have yellow undertone.

@Alexisjayda I see you're big into contouring and you have contouring palettes,just a suggestion you can use the loreal true match powder compacts for contouring also, that's what I use and you get a lot more product. :)

It creased on my nose and it does get shiny. Towards the afternoon if you put it on in the morning. I use those sheets that wipes off your shine away it works lol

yes with this foundation you have to set it, same thing happen to me i bought the setting and it work for me.
Does this have a yellow undertone? Because I recently read that their shades that end with 0 are yellow, and the 5's are pink. But with the new line, they have numbers in between so I'm really confused.
