"Ive had indian once in my life" the UK used to own India and took their spices, also alot of indians moved to the UK after WW, being allies, and opened curry houses, the US forced them out, once the war was over; US have no idea what the UK or Indian variations are. Ive eaten curry in the US, it tasted like sugar and regret.
From someone who grew up eating this type of food, I can tell you some of that isn’t the most wonderful. The goat hoof dish, you’re not meant to eat it, but rather the marrow, and the gravy it was in. Haleem is a delicious dish, when made correctly, at least. It takes a long time to make it too from scratch, so I can almost guarantee theirs is probably made ahead of time and frozen. It’s a real shame, made right Haleem is a wonderful experience in of itself. Edit: Also the “string” is actually the meat, and whether you have goat, beef or chicken haleem, the meat will always be that way because it is shredded when it is added to the lentil and daal gravy.
