I own and use a Husqvarna 135, 445 Rancher, 460 Rancher and a 395XP, plus a Stihl MS362c and a Homelite 4318. Each one has a purpose that it is best suited for. They all work but the Husqvarna 445 Rancher is the workhorse of the bunch. Most usable for most occasions. I love all my kids but I do have a favorite. There are no saws that I don't like (if it works), but the Husqvarna is a saw I do like.
The choke on the Stihl isn't broke. Push it all the way down and pull cord until it hits then manually pull it up into the next click up and it will stay half choked and In high idle. When you hit the trigger it goes into the run position.
I've owned my Husqvarna 455 Rancher for almost 3 years and I've had no issues with the saw as long as you keep it well oiled and the chain sharpened. I looked at the Stihl MS362 but the price point wasn't worth the additional money for it's usage here on my small 20 acre homestead. The other selling point was service. The Stihl had to be sent to a service center for any kind of service where the Husqvarna is serviced where I purchased it and that was another reason I chose the Rancher. @Michael Fresh That's fine if you know how these small 2 stroke engines work and can repair them yourself. I've had no issues with my 455 Rancher since I purchased it in 2016 and have bucked up over 100 cords of hardwood over the last 4+ years. the only thing I;ve had to do is change out the spark plug every season and always carry a spare and tools when I'm in the bush. Additionally, I purchase premixed fuel with additives and don;t mess with trying to mix it myself and it starts and runs like a champ.
@Michael Fresh Yeah, I always keep an extra Oregon chain, sharpening rod, spark plug , bar oil, wedges, ax, and additional fuel. I have a gang box on my Honda 4 wheeler which holds everything I need but the saw itself which I strap to the front rack.
I had a logger remove some big trees and had me try his saw on a bigger log than this. I operated the saw the way it was done in this video and the logger stopped me and said let the saw do the work instead of trying to work the saw. He then took his saw in one hand as an example and cut through the log while just holding the trigger just to make a point. The operator can actually make the saw cut slower than it is capable of.
Thanks for the Video. I bought a Pullan 20" to get me going. For $180 it has been great with the aftermarket Oregon bar and chain. I now feel more comfortable and want a better saw. I lived in Arizona after the Army, and though I'm in my 40's and cut wood through my younger years, my dad never let us touch the saw. Thanks dad.
I have had a Husky Rancher 455 for 10 years. Always starts on the second pull and tears through big wood. Very happy with it. I also have a smaller Stihl MS210C that's equally great for limbing and small to medium wood. Both brands are great.
I can tell the difference in the more aggressive chain from your video. I have a 455 rancher. Got it used and it came with a 24" bar. It runs just fine.
Honest review here... Been using a Rancher 55 for (16) years now. It came with a 20" B&C & right off the bat it didn't take me long to realize it was to much for the saw. Been running an 18" aggressive chain for the last (15) years. The saw cut much happier. (5) years back the lower end wore out as in the con-rod bushing causing piston misalignment. $100.00 parts & labor later got me a used lower end as in the jug, piston & conrod assy. I have also stopped using ethanol gasoline & strictly use a high octane, non-ethanol fuel. Another little trick I follow is to bump up the oil ratio a tad when mixing my fuel. What has worked for me is the 2.5 gal. Husky oil mix to 2.2 gals. of fuel. I could go with just 2 gals & be OK I believe, may smoke a little more & possibly shorten the plug life a little. When this saw finally goes, it gets thrown away. Currently I have my eye on the Husqvarna 372 XP in 20". I believe it can go to 32"... Currently it does NOT have a computer, but the carb. adj's are capped from the factory ( much to my dismay ), Once it gets through warranty, the caps get removed & I set it up my way with a tach. Husqvarna is notorious for setting the high speed on their saws to high fram the factory & thereby reducing engine longevity. I simply am not sold on a computer running the show, which is the primary reason I will avoid the Stihl lineup for the foreseeable future....I think it is called M-tronic or something to that effect. I have 2 Stil saws. Love them. Great quality. On the saw chains I sharpen my own. I grind down the takers a little every time I sharpen the chain. This does make it a little more aggressive. (Cuts faster). I did 10 cords of wood last year. No problems what so ever. As always thank you for sharing your experiences. I’m 61 years old and really enjoy your vlogs. Bless you brother.
I have the Husqvarna 455 Rancher and the Stihl MS180. I love both brands. You are correct, the Stihl is a more aggressive chainsaw. I have never had a problem with my Stihl. After owning my Husqvarna for four years, I developed an excessive bar oil leak. I could never figure it out and finally took it in. No complaints about either chainsaw.
Self adjusting carburetor on the 362, controls fuel/air ratios. I believe all of the pro model saws have it now, and that goes for Stihl and Husqvarna. Also, Stihl recommends a 25 for the 362, but I'm pretty sure it can run a 28, especially after a muffler mod.
I have both as well. The 362 will outcut the 455 but unless I time it, I cannot tell the difference. Times were about a second apart on a 18 to 22 inch diameter log. The 455 runs a lot more like a Stihl as opposed to the 450 and 550XP and 562XP. I also cannot tell the difference in weight between the two. I'll have to weigh them sometime. You were not feathering either saw in the video, you were doing what I call "dogging them down" through the wood; feathering them to me means an even pressure throughout that doesn't bog the saw at all, no sea-sawing!
The 362 isn't a low end pro grade saw, it's just medium sized pro grade saw that's all. Husky makes a heck of a saw as well can't go wrong either way, but there is a big difference between the grades of chainsaws
A.L.L. Firewood bought 2 Ranchers. They make nice boat anchors. The absolute worst saws I have ever owned. They would run about 10 minutes then stop and not start. They spent more time in the shop than running and Husqvarna would not stand behind their products.
Grew up cutting wood with my dad and brothers. Started with a hatchet cutting small stuff. As we grew up and brothers moved out I eventually got promoted to a small chain saw. Lots of fun, wish I had a good excuse to buy one.
on my inlaws comp tonight frrapp here we have an older stihl elct ign but no comp assist about 20 yrs old we recently purchased a couple of electric saws one a corded pole saw and the other 14in corded regular saw both from Harbor freight i love them both for quick trimming and cutting around the farmstead near electricity but ive used it in the pasture to cut saplings out of the fence using the generator plant in a trailer or pu love them both because they are light and stop when you let off the trigger like the gas saws to cut big stuff but for little stuff the elec are nice take care keep warm and have fun at your farmstead frrapp
I have a Stihl MS290 and a Ms192tc. There has never been a problem with either of them and there hasn't been a tree that I can't handle. They make a great pair.
I'm a small engine tech and have worked on both. Honestly you can't go wrong with either. The 455 had issues with oiling when they first came out but they fixed that as time went on. I have a 455 I've used for years without issues. Has done tons of fire wood. The stihl is agreat saw but its more of a pro saw than a home owner saw like the husqvarna so it will out do the 455. I really like husqvarna more because its easier to get parts. You don't have to go to a dealer like you do stihl. Which sometime can be a big deal for people. It honestly comes down to preference.
I don't use chainsaws that much but I bought a 455 Rancher a few years ago and it has been great! Thankfully my dealer runs everything before handing it over!
The Stihl Farm Boss, The Husqvarna Rancher and the Echo Timberwolf are direct competitors for homeowner saws. Having owned all three, I preferred the Echo, hands down. That being said, I sold all of them to get a Stihl MS-362 CM and have not regretted it.
The MS362 is a pro saw, if cost isn't an option it's a better saw, defiantly not low end. The price of these saws is closer than you would think, so for me the 362 is the better option. The construction and weight of the pro saws makes them more durable and easier to rebuild. Most of the saws I own are Husky or Jonsered, so I'm not biased towards Stihl saws.
Husqvarna and Stihl are the top 2 saws not one is better then the other it's just what you like. I only run Husqvarna but will not knock or say they are better then a stihl. Biggest reason I only run Husqvarna is the dealer is near me.
I thought about buying a Stihl after watching my dad with his for decades. He immediately said, "No, don't do that." That surprised the hell out of me. He loves using his saw. It wasn't until I turned 45 before he figured I was old enough to use his baby. Under supervision. When I asked why I shouldn't get one myself, he said that if I need cutting that he is only a three hour drive away. "And besides, when I'm gone you'll get this one." He bought that saw in 1977. Still runs like it was brand new.
Definitely a comparison. But cc and bhp are different between the two (not a fair comparison). Starter Husky (don't cut that much, & don't want to invest much). If you cut wood year around or as a profession log (Stihl at least in this comparison).
The biggest difference comes when you go to fix it. Non pro saw you throw away when the engine is done the pro saw runs about 100$ for a new piston and cylinder. The 150$ more you spend for the pro saw saves you money in the long run. Odd but true the plastic crankcase and frame weighs more than the magnesium frame and crankcase on the pro saws. As a home owner user that just cuts fire wood for camping. Buy a used pro saw just bought a ms362 a few days back for 400$ and it looks and runs like new. New price for a 362 was 778$ out the door took the savings and bought a few more chains for the 18in bar on it and ordered a 32in bar and skip tooth chain for felling biggger trees
I have a Poulan saw that I bought at a rummage sale in fair condition. I ran it very lightly for about 3 years and it just wouldn't start any more.... I kept poulin and poulin and poulin on it till my arm dang near broke. Lol..... Now I've got the Stihl 311, with both safety and aggressive chains and I love it. That sucker starts every time and goes through anything. I'm seriously considering getting the 26 inch bar and tackling some of the old growth Cedar on my back 40 acres with an Alaskan mill system. Go Stihl!!!
Just got the ms 362 c yesterday and now I'm hearing get rid of it due to the wire harness issues they are known for. I guess it will just die when running. Thinkingnof bringing it back before i use it. Definitely wouldn't be happy after spending almost $900 and start having those kinds of problems.
That’s poor tree felling technique. Why no notch? Also the Stihl isn’t a lower end pro saw, it’s a lower power pro saw. Other then that good video. It’s not an apples to apples comparison but it’s what you got. Both solid saws. I have a 261 (new pro 50cc) and 440 (older 70cc pro saw). A tip, let the saw do the work, when you hinge it up you always bogg it down. That’s a sign your putting too much pressure on it. Or get your 362 ported and it won’t bogg down👍🏻 keep up the good work dude!!
I bought a 445xp and it starts in 2 pulls even after being buried in the snow for a few months. Only thing I dont like about it is the single bar bolt vs the dual. Cuts locust Like butter. If ever I upgrade, will probably stick with what I know, but bigger.
I will have both pretty soon. I am building a Farmertec 361 later this month and I have a 455. I also have a Stihl 029, which is about the same as the 455. A 362 should blow the doors off the 455. I do not like Mtronic saws. I am a screw turner. I cut down and bucked up a 24 inch maple last winter with my 455. It mowed through it like it was butter with an LGX chain on it. C on a stihl saw means - added features. Your if it is a Mtronic would be A 362 CMif it is a Mtronic saw. Read the sticker on the front of the saw below the muffler. I do not consider the 455 to be a heavy saw. My660 is a heavy saw. The 455 is a lightweight.
I used both, my father has the 455 and I have a 362... the 362 has way more power the 455 is an okay saw for minor short jobs but will take longer to cut. I even got the 391 and even that is better than the 455.
Good video and you look like you’re pretty savvy with chainsaws. I have to call you out as you ‘put down’ the Husqvarna because it has plastic. Husqvarna makes a very high grade of polymer plastic that is very tough. It ain’t no dime store saw and it can take a beating. Stihl makes saws with plastic too. Your case and all may be made of magnesium, on more premium saws, but handles and all still made of plastic. One thing in Stihl’s favor is they make their block out of solid piece, from what Ive been told. Husqvarna makes magnesium crank cases, but they are clamshelled? Stay safe! Peace! 👍✌🏻🇺🇸😀

Cool vid but you don’t have to wrench down on the saws to get them to cut that’s prob why the antivibe bushing came out of the husky bud they will cut faster by just sharp chain and let them eat!!
If you don’t buy from a dealer you are getting a lower quality huskie. Stihls, are nice inexpensive saw. I’ve owned both. I liked my huskie just because it had a compression release, as a woman that’s a bonus for me. I like my still, but found the huskie better for me. Buy the huskie from the dealer it’s better.

Need to compare 2 chainsaws that are more close to the same size. Might be surprised at which one cuts faster. Also everyday use make a big difference on which is a better saw
I have a 455 rancher and for some reason after awhile of cutting it throw's the chain. Then I have too buy a new bar and chain, this is getting exspesive to replace both everytime it has a burp! Proper chain tension and maintance on the saw, is this a model problem, or am I doing something wrong?
i have owned and still have most all saws i ever bought, in my life, it is not plastic on the Husqvarna saws, it more like an ABS, i had had trees land on the saw and at most bent the handle, my stihl, it is thin white metal and you so much as drop it on a hard serfase that thin white metal brakes a part like glass in 40 below.. and they mostly been the Husqvarna saws, apples ao apples the Husqvarna has always out proformed the stihl, in both starting, power and speed of cutting, as also had in compilations, using the square chain on both, the Husqvarna saws you can throw them in the snow bank in 40 below and pick it up from the snow a week later and 2 to 3 pulls your off cutting, do the same with a stihl and forget about them starting, in computation the Husqvarna has out cut the comparable stihl in logging, all the Husqvarna saws i have owned have never given me any real problem using every day in logging, everyone has cut thousands of cords, except the new Husqvarna 460 Rancher, it is listed on there website as a pro saw, i bought this 460 in 2010 but is sat in the box for 4 years, never had gas or oil put in it, as i didnt need it, i thought my other Husqvarna saw was on its way out, being so old, but it just kept going, then one day i was board and though, gee i am going to try out this new 460 on my fence lines, i went and bought the Husqvarna pre mixed gas to use for the breke in of the say, i was not cutting anything big on the fence line so it was the best job for its brake in, this 460 rancher, i paid $699 cnd plus 13% tax, i used the saw for about a total run time of about half an hour cutting light brush and limbs, the next day a run time of about 30 min, and a few days later for about a total of one hour off and on, on my walk out of the bush there was a blow down jack pine, a soft wood, over the creek, so i wanted to just cut out a peace over the water, i started the saw to cut this 8 inch pine tree, half way though the first cut, the saw stopped dead with a hard bang and clunk, tried to restart it, but no go, i got to the house and thinking, the spark plug must have failed, i replaced it with a new one, and tried to start it. it wouldnt fire at all, but it didnt feel right pulling the starter rope. it felt like the decompretion button was out, witch i never use. i checked it, and it was not pulled, i did a compresion test. it came up with only 71psi. i thought this is odd, i am using there pre mix gas, and lucky if the saw has 3 hours on it, with all the stop and move brush and go again, i took it to the dealer were i bought it. they wanted $169 just to look at it, being the saw was out of its warranty well it sat in the box, i was not going to pay them that kind of money to tell me what i already new, that it lost compression. later i took it to a dealer i have never deal with, and they wanted $75 to look atthe saw. i left it with them to look it over. a week went by and no call from them. so i stopped by, and asked about the saw, the service guy tells me, the saw is junk, not worth fixing, i say to him, well whats wrong with it, he says it has no compression, i tell him i know that i told you that when i dropped it off, so whats wrong with it i ask again. he says i dont know whats wrong i didnt take it a part. the service guy tells me, i can pay the $75 and take the saw, or just leave it with them, as they maybe able to part it out. yes they tried to scam me big time on selling used parts that didnt even have 3 hour use on, i asked him to contact the mfg to see if Husqvarna would replace the saw even tho it sat in the box for a few years never used and warranty ran out, the service guy tells me he all ready did that, he talked to the rep he clams, witch i think was a total lie. i took the saw home and opened it up, to find the crank shaft housing is a 2 peace housing, looking at that parts page of the 455 rancher, they are also split in half casing at the crank shaft as well. witch you just dont do, on a saw that sells for over #600 with tax, i am disgusted with Husqvarna after all these year only really ever buying 95% of my saws, riding mowers, trimmers, brush cutters, lawn edgers, leaf blowers, hedge trimmers, you name it. yes the casing splits at center of the crank shaft, and has a rubber doughnut for a crank seal on each side, they dont press in, and there is 2 rubber long thin seals, that seals the 2 halfs of the crank case/jug together, well it had ripped one of them so called rubber donuts put in as seals, but a very pour seal at that, the seals for each side, and the 2 strips of thin rubber to seal the 2 halfs together was $64cnd at the dealer. i went online and order them all for under $15 and free shipping.. bottom line is Husqvarna has really gone to the dogs on how good there saws are now built,, there all a throw away saw now according to both dealers, i have videos on here on this saw
u should not see-saw the bar when cutting. u can some if done very slowly. your goal should be to have the r.p.m.s stay as steady as possible. u will shorten the life of the engine the way u r doing it.
There’s no comparison.....Husq 455 is a big box store deal. Me 362 is a pro timber saw......sooo 🍎 to 🍊 comparison. Not even close on price. Compare that 455 to an Ms 271 or 291. Closer comparison....maybe. Go with the one that’s white & orange...not an orange poulan pro or whatever they’re supposed to be.
actually 362c is a professional saw but is made for smaller trees but got to say the 545 husqy runs much better than the stihl and for me the triger size is too small on stihl hustqy has bigger and i feel safer useing the big trigger but i am talking about small bars 13 and 15 inches we used for thinning but got to say stihl is one god damn tough saw my dad has a 180c what has lasted him a 13 or 14 years and still runs like a charm
lol I got same 2 saws stihl will pull a little bigger bar better and just made a little better that being said I really like my 455 rancher with a 22 and its only about half the price of the stihl. the wedges you have are bucking wedges you want the bigger 1s for falling. that's y there being really hard to pound in
Green is not semi chisel, green is reduced kickback, there are yellow semi chisel(RM) and yellow chisel (RS), RM3 and RS3 are the low kickback versions.
My 460 is about 8 years old. It's all the saw I need. I generally use it a few times a year from a cut or two to 2 or 3 days of cutting, I do try not to go to long without running it. I have never had a problem starting it beyond a few extra pulls.
Im a Stihl guy always run stihl equipent and never had a problem with stihl i like stihl because there are more stihl dealers in my area if husky had more dealers that probly what i would have i yhinl they are both top of the line equipment i do like husky but dealers in my area are few amd far you cant compare a pro model to a homeowner.
I bought a husky 435e because I am cheap, but it has a lot of plastic and I like things sturdy and I just don't get that feeling with all the plastic. Next saw will be a used stihl. nice video
I would think a Pro saw that costs almost twice as much would perform better. You could reverse the video and use a Husky pro saw vs a consumer Stihl and the Husky would perform better. Apples to Oranges IMHO.
So tired of the stihl vs husky videos. I' am 62 and been logging, falling and buckin tree for 40 years. Both saws are good. It's the ford vs chevy of chainsaws. It's getting old. Everybody is an expert. If you don't believe it just ask them.
I have 5 Stihl saws ms251 017 036 pro 044 and 056 would not recommend the 251 been in the shop more times than my big ones never had any issues with then after I fixed what the previous owners broke
It's so funny to see guys pulling up on there saw when it's in the wood. Bogging it right down like dude your not cutting any faster doing that. Let the damn saw do the work. keep it in the high rpms guarentee it will cut just as fast. When your bogging your saw down like that it's less oil getting to the bar wears the bar and chain out faster.
What ever happened to your electric chainsaw. I had a guy buy a Milwaukee the other day and he said he couldn't tell the difference between it and his gas chainsaw. I mean other than it was lighter and made no noise.
Seems like your pushing them saw beyond their limits. Get a MS461 if you want to push that much' 18 cc more power and you will know it // Don't worry about money it's just not worth it //
Clearly not a fair comparison. The Stihl is a higher category and cost of saw. That husky is cheap and their low to mid range. I own both these models and the Husky is far more reliable which is hilarious given the cost difference. The Stihl needs serious repair regulary despite its flashy overturned stock features. If you have the budget, I'd not reccomend that model of Stihl. Either bump up a level or two where the maintenance is less frequent or think about other brands in this category or price range that demonstrate lower carrying cost and higher reliability.
As I mentioned in the video this is not a comparison between which saw is better but more of a comparison of is it worth it to invest in the higher end saw or not.
C actually stands for Comfort, it means that there is some sort of added value to the machine that raises usage comfort. But C marking is never actually indicator for what comfort part is added. Therefore if you look at the model sticker on the hand guard or machine specs, there is usually markings like C-M for M-Tronic, C-E is machines with Ergo Start system, C-B is quick chain tensioner, sometimes they add Q for QuickStop chain brake. So you can even have multiple letter, C-EM its M-Tronic with ErgoStart.

I simply am not sold on a computer running the show, which is the primary reason I will avoid the Stihl lineup for the foreseeable future....I think it is called M-tronic or something to that effect.

I have 2 Stil saws. Love them. Great quality. On the saw chains I sharpen my own. I grind down the takers a little every time I sharpen the chain. This does make it a little more aggressive. (Cuts faster). I did 10 cords of wood last year. No problems what so ever. As always thank you for sharing your experiences. I’m 61 years old and really enjoy your vlogs.

I have the Husqvarna 455 Rancher and the Stihl MS180. I love both brands. You are correct, the Stihl is a more aggressive chainsaw. I have never had a problem with my Stihl. After owning my
Husqvarna for four years, I developed an
excessive bar oil leak. I could never figure it out and finally took it in. No complaints about either chainsaw.
Self adjusting carburetor on the 362, controls fuel/air ratios. I believe all of the pro model saws have it now, and that goes for Stihl and Husqvarna. Also, Stihl recommends a 25 for the 362, but I'm pretty sure it can run a 28, especially after a muffler mod.
I have both as well. The 362 will outcut the 455 but unless I time it, I cannot tell the difference. Times were about a second apart on a 18 to 22 inch diameter log. The 455 runs a lot more like a Stihl as opposed to the 450 and 550XP and 562XP. I also cannot tell the difference in weight between the two. I'll have to weigh them sometime. You were not feathering either saw in the video, you were doing what I call "dogging them down" through the wood; feathering them to me means an even pressure throughout that doesn't bog the saw at all, no sea-sawing!
The 362 isn't a low end pro grade saw, it's just medium sized pro grade saw that's all. Husky makes a heck of a saw as well can't go wrong either way, but there is a big difference between the grades of chainsaws
Stihl = more HP, more money, but the Husky is not a 'low end saw' either. They are both very good.
A.L.L. Firewood bought 2 Ranchers. They make nice boat anchors. The absolute worst saws I have ever owned. They would run about 10 minutes then stop and not start. They spent more time in the shop than running and Husqvarna would not stand behind their products.
my Husky always started for me, my Farmboss never likes to start in the cold weather.
Grew up cutting wood with my dad and brothers. Started with a hatchet cutting small stuff. As we grew up and brothers moved out I eventually got promoted to a small chain saw. Lots of fun, wish I had a good excuse to buy one.
on my inlaws comp tonight frrapp here we have an older stihl elct ign but no comp assist about 20 yrs old we recently purchased a couple of electric saws one a corded pole saw and the other 14in corded regular saw both from Harbor freight i love them both for quick trimming and cutting around the farmstead near electricity but ive used it in the pasture to cut saplings out of the fence using the generator plant in a trailer or pu love them both because they are light and stop when you let off the trigger like the gas saws to cut big stuff but for little stuff the elec are nice take care keep warm and have fun at your farmstead frrapp
I have a Stihl MS290 and a Ms192tc. There has never been a problem with either of them and there hasn't been a tree that I can't handle. They make a great pair.
I'm a small engine tech and have worked on both. Honestly you can't go wrong with either. The 455 had issues with oiling when they first came out but they fixed that as time went on. I have a 455 I've used for years without issues. Has done tons of fire wood.
The stihl is agreat saw but its more of a pro saw than a home owner saw like the husqvarna so it will out do the 455.
I really like husqvarna more because its easier to get parts. You don't have to go to a dealer like you do stihl. Which sometime can be a big deal for people. It honestly comes down to preference.
I don't use chainsaws that much but I bought a 455 Rancher a few years ago and it has been great! Thankfully my dealer runs everything before handing it over!
The Stihl Farm Boss, The Husqvarna Rancher and the Echo Timberwolf are direct competitors for homeowner saws. Having owned all three, I preferred the Echo, hands down. That being said, I sold all of them to get a Stihl MS-362 CM and have not regretted it.
The MS362 is a pro saw, if cost isn't an option it's a better saw, defiantly not low end. The price of these saws is closer than you would think, so for me the 362 is the better option. The construction and weight of the pro saws makes them more durable and easier to rebuild. Most of the saws I own are Husky or Jonsered, so I'm not biased towards Stihl saws.
Husqvarna and Stihl are the top 2 saws not one is better then the other it's just what you like. I only run Husqvarna but will not knock or say they are better then a stihl. Biggest reason I only run Husqvarna is the dealer is near me.
Jonsered is better than either one.

I thought about buying a Stihl after watching my dad with his for decades. He immediately said, "No, don't do that." That surprised the hell out of me. He loves using his saw. It wasn't until I turned 45 before he figured I was old enough to use his baby. Under supervision.
When I asked why I shouldn't get one myself, he said that if I need cutting that he is only a three hour drive away.
"And besides, when I'm gone you'll get this one."
He bought that saw in 1977. Still runs like it was brand new.

Definitely a comparison. But cc and bhp are different between the two (not a fair comparison). Starter Husky (don't cut that much, & don't want to invest much). If you cut wood year around or as a profession log (Stihl at least in this comparison).

The biggest difference comes when you go to fix it. Non pro saw you throw away when the engine is done the pro saw runs about 100$ for a new piston and cylinder. The 150$ more you spend for the pro saw saves you money in the long run. Odd but true the plastic crankcase and frame weighs more than the magnesium frame and crankcase on the pro saws. As a home owner user that just cuts fire wood for camping. Buy a used pro saw just bought a ms362 a few days back for 400$ and it looks and runs like new. New price for a 362 was 778$ out the door took the savings and bought a few more chains for the 18in bar on it and ordered a 32in bar and skip tooth chain for felling biggger trees
I have a Poulan saw that I bought at a rummage sale in fair condition. I ran it very lightly for about 3 years and it just wouldn't start any more.... I kept poulin and poulin and poulin on it till my arm dang near broke. Lol..... Now I've got the Stihl 311, with both safety and aggressive chains and I love it. That sucker starts every time and goes through anything. I'm seriously considering getting the 26 inch bar and tackling some of the old growth Cedar on my back 40 acres with an Alaskan mill system. Go Stihl!!!

Just got the ms 362 c yesterday and now I'm hearing get rid of it due to the wire harness issues they are known for. I guess it will just die when running. Thinkingnof bringing it back before i use it. Definitely wouldn't be happy after spending almost $900 and start having those kinds of problems.
Flat out hard to beat the 455 for what is! Mine is 14 years old and going strong!! They are just a really great saw!
That’s poor tree felling technique. Why no notch? Also the Stihl isn’t a lower end pro saw, it’s a lower power pro saw. Other then that good video. It’s not an apples to apples comparison but it’s what you got. Both solid saws. I have a 261 (new pro 50cc) and 440 (older 70cc pro saw). A tip, let the saw do the work, when you hinge it up you always bogg it down. That’s a sign your putting too much pressure on it. Or get your 362 ported and it won’t bogg down👍🏻 keep up the good work dude!!

I bought a 445xp and it starts in 2 pulls even after being buried in the snow for a few months. Only thing I dont like about it is the single bar bolt vs the dual. Cuts locust Like butter. If ever I upgrade, will probably stick with what I know, but bigger.

worked clearing right of way for power,used both brands, Husq. chain would flip off cutting underbrush and bolts vibrate loose but good saw.
I will have both pretty soon. I am building a Farmertec 361 later this month and I have a 455. I also have a Stihl 029, which is about the same as the 455. A 362 should blow the doors off the 455. I do not like Mtronic saws. I am a screw turner. I cut down and bucked up a 24 inch maple last winter with my 455. It mowed through it like it was butter with an LGX chain on it. C on a stihl saw means - added features. Your if it is a Mtronic would be A 362 CMif it is a Mtronic saw. Read the sticker on the front of the saw below the muffler. I do not consider the 455 to be a heavy saw. My660 is a heavy saw. The 455 is a lightweight.
I used both, my father has the 455 and I have a 362... the 362 has way more power the 455 is an okay saw for minor short jobs but will take longer to cut. I even got the 391 and even that is better than the 455.

Good video and you look like you’re pretty savvy with chainsaws. I have to call you out as you ‘put down’ the Husqvarna because it has plastic. Husqvarna makes a very high grade of polymer plastic that is very tough. It ain’t no dime store saw and it can take a beating. Stihl makes saws with plastic too. Your case and all may be made of magnesium, on more premium saws, but handles and all still made of plastic. One thing in Stihl’s favor is they make their block out of solid piece, from what Ive been told. Husqvarna makes magnesium crank cases, but they are clamshelled? Stay safe! Peace! 👍✌🏻🇺🇸😀

Cool vid but you don’t have to wrench down on the saws to get them to cut that’s prob why the antivibe bushing came out of the husky bud they will cut faster by just sharp chain and let them eat!!

Go on any classified ads, there are at least 10 Huskies for every Stihl for sale. Stihl is #1 no question.
If you don’t buy from a dealer you are getting a lower quality huskie. Stihls, are nice inexpensive saw. I’ve owned both. I liked my huskie just because it had a compression release, as a woman that’s a bonus for me. I like my still, but found the huskie better for me. Buy the huskie from the dealer it’s better.

I have a 455 rancher and for some reason after awhile of cutting it throw's the chain. Then I have too buy a new bar and chain, this is getting exspesive to replace both everytime it has a burp! Proper chain tension and maintance on the saw, is this a model problem, or am I doing something wrong?

i have owned and still have most all saws i ever bought, in my life, it is not plastic on the Husqvarna saws, it more like an ABS, i had had trees land on the saw and at most bent the handle, my stihl, it is thin white metal and you so much as drop it on a hard serfase that thin white metal brakes a part like glass in 40 below.. and they mostly been the Husqvarna saws, apples ao apples the Husqvarna has always out proformed the stihl, in both starting, power and speed of cutting, as also had in compilations, using the square chain on both, the Husqvarna saws you can throw them in the snow bank in 40 below and pick it up from the snow a week later and 2 to 3 pulls your off cutting, do the same with a stihl and forget about them starting, in computation the Husqvarna has out cut the comparable stihl in logging, all the Husqvarna saws i have owned have never given me any real problem using every day in logging, everyone has cut thousands of cords, except the new Husqvarna 460 Rancher, it is listed on there website as a pro saw, i bought this 460 in 2010 but is sat in the box for 4 years, never had gas or oil put in it, as i didnt need it, i thought my other Husqvarna saw was on its way out, being so old, but it just kept going, then one day i was board and though, gee i am going to try out this new 460 on my fence lines, i went and bought the Husqvarna pre mixed gas to use for the breke in of the say, i was not cutting anything big on the fence line so it was the best job for its brake in, this 460 rancher, i paid $699 cnd plus 13% tax, i used the saw for about a total run time of about half an hour cutting light brush and limbs, the next day a run time of about 30 min, and a few days later for about a total of one hour off and on, on my walk out of the bush there was a blow down jack pine, a soft wood, over the creek, so i wanted to just cut out a peace over the water, i started the saw to cut this 8 inch pine tree, half way though the first cut, the saw stopped dead with a hard bang and clunk, tried to restart it, but no go, i got to the house and thinking, the spark plug must have failed, i replaced it with a new one, and tried to start it. it wouldnt fire at all, but it didnt feel right pulling the starter rope. it felt like the decompretion button was out, witch i never use. i checked it, and it was not pulled, i did a compresion test. it came up with only 71psi. i thought this is odd, i am using there pre mix gas, and lucky if the saw has 3 hours on it, with all the stop and move brush and go again, i took it to the dealer were i bought it. they wanted $169 just to look at it, being the saw was out of its warranty well it sat in the box, i was not going to pay them that kind of money to tell me what i already new, that it lost compression. later i took it to a dealer i have never deal with, and they wanted $75 to look atthe saw. i left it with them to look it over. a week went by and no call from them. so i stopped by, and asked about the saw, the service guy tells me, the saw is junk, not worth fixing, i say to him, well whats wrong with it, he says it has no compression, i tell him i know that i told you that when i dropped it off, so whats wrong with it i ask again. he says i dont know whats wrong i didnt take it a part. the service guy tells me, i can pay the $75 and take the saw, or just leave it with them, as they maybe able to part it out. yes they tried to scam me big time on selling used parts that didnt even have 3 hour use on, i asked him to contact the mfg to see if Husqvarna would replace the saw even tho it sat in the box for a few years never used and warranty ran out, the service guy tells me he all ready did that, he talked to the rep he clams, witch i think was a total lie. i took the saw home and opened it up, to find the crank shaft housing is a 2 peace housing, looking at that parts page of the 455 rancher, they are also split in half casing at the crank shaft as well. witch you just dont do, on a saw that sells for over #600 with tax, i am disgusted with Husqvarna after all these year only really ever buying 95% of my saws, riding mowers, trimmers, brush cutters, lawn edgers, leaf blowers, hedge trimmers, you name it. yes the casing splits at center of the crank shaft, and has a rubber doughnut for a crank seal on each side, they dont press in, and there is 2 rubber long thin seals, that seals the 2 halfs of the crank case/jug together, well it had ripped one of them so called rubber donuts put in as seals, but a very pour seal at that, the seals for each side, and the 2 strips of thin rubber to seal the 2 halfs together was $64cnd at the dealer. i went online and order them all for under $15 and free shipping.. bottom line is Husqvarna has really gone to the dogs on how good there saws are now built,, there all a throw away saw now according to both dealers, i have videos on here on this saw
u should not see-saw the bar when cutting. u can some if done very slowly. your goal should be to have the r.p.m.s stay as steady as possible. u will shorten the life of the engine the way u r doing it.

There’s no comparison.....Husq 455 is a big box store deal. Me 362 is a pro timber saw......sooo 🍎 to 🍊 comparison. Not even close on price. Compare that 455 to an Ms 271 or 291. Closer comparison....maybe. Go with the one that’s white & orange...not an orange poulan pro or whatever they’re supposed to be.

actually 362c is a professional saw but is made for smaller trees but got to say the 545 husqy runs much better than the stihl and for me the triger size is too small on stihl hustqy has bigger and i feel safer useing the big trigger but i am talking about small bars 13 and 15 inches we used for thinning but got to say stihl is one god damn tough saw my dad has a 180c what has lasted him a 13 or 14 years and still runs like a charm

Green is not semi chisel, green is reduced kickback, there are yellow semi chisel(RM) and yellow chisel (RS), RM3 and RS3 are the low kickback versions.

My 460 is about 8 years old. It's all the saw I need. I generally use it a few times a year from a cut or two to 2 or 3 days of cutting, I do try not to go to long without running it. I have never had a problem starting it beyond a few extra pulls.
I have to be honest the Stihl would be the best bet, you would think, I have the rancher and that thing starts up every time with a couple of pulls.
2 pulls at most every time for me have had for over 3 years and it gets used a lot
Just curious as to why you don't cut the trees closer to the ground? You could have had a whole other peice of wood to split
I did cut it right at the ground but the first cut to fell the tree is done about 16"-20" off the ground

Im a Stihl guy always run stihl equipent and never had a problem with stihl i like stihl because there are more stihl dealers in my area if husky had more dealers that probly what i would have i yhinl they are both top of the line equipment i do like husky but dealers in my area are few amd far you cant compare a pro model to a homeowner.

Dude, Husqvarna uses a high grade of polymer plastic that is very tough. If you’re tearing up a Husqvarna, you’ll soon be doing the same on a Stihl.

I would think a Pro saw that costs almost twice as much would perform better. You could reverse the video and use a Husky pro saw vs a consumer Stihl and the Husky would perform better. Apples to Oranges IMHO.
So tired of the stihl vs husky videos. I' am 62 and been logging, falling and buckin tree for 40 years. Both saws are good. It's the ford vs chevy of chainsaws. It's getting old. Everybody is an expert. If you don't believe it just ask them.
Looked to me the Husqvarna was running circles around Stihl, and I'm a stihl man but maybe not for long.
I have 5 Stihl saws ms251 017 036 pro 044 and 056 would not recommend the 251 been in the shop more times than my big ones never had any issues with then after I fixed what the previous owners broke

It's so funny to see guys pulling up on there saw when it's in the wood. Bogging it right down like dude your not cutting any faster doing that. Let the damn saw do the work. keep it in the high rpms guarentee it will cut just as fast. When your bogging your saw down like that it's less oil getting to the bar wears the bar and chain out faster.

What ever happened to your electric chainsaw. I had a guy buy a Milwaukee the other day and he said he couldn't tell the difference between it and his gas chainsaw. I mean other than it was lighter and made no noise.
I still use the old ryobi 40v saw for trimming up smaller stuff but it is only 12" bar

Clearly not a fair comparison. The Stihl is a higher category and cost of saw. That husky is cheap and their low to mid range. I own both these models and the Husky is far more reliable which is hilarious given the cost difference. The Stihl needs serious repair regulary despite its flashy overturned stock features. If you have the budget, I'd not reccomend that model of Stihl. Either bump up a level or two where the maintenance is less frequent or think about other brands in this category or price range that demonstrate lower carrying cost and higher reliability.
As I mentioned in the video this is not a comparison between which saw is better but more of a comparison of is it worth it to invest in the higher end saw or not.

C stands for commercial I think when it comes to Stihl.

C actually stands for Comfort, it means that there is some sort of added value to the machine that raises usage comfort. But C marking is never actually indicator for what comfort part is added. Therefore if you look at the model sticker on the hand guard or machine specs, there is usually markings like C-M for M-Tronic, C-E is machines with Ergo Start system, C-B is quick chain tensioner, sometimes they add Q for QuickStop chain brake. So you can even have multiple letter, C-EM its M-Tronic with ErgoStart.
