Great work. I usually don't like these bobber projects because they usually look half-baked. People just grab any old cruiser and start to chop things off and cover up nice high quality factory paint with some cheap flat black spray can crap. But this has a nice original look to it. I also like how the bike you started with was worn out and needed to be redone anyway. Way too many nice usable bikes get chopped up way too soon. Nice project.
@breedib Thank you! The first mudguard I fitted was just the inner supporting brace off the original. I had to trim it a bit to fit and it looked good but in the end I felt it was too short so bought a universal one from eBay. I have a couple of photos of the first one fitted which may give you some ideas but don't know if I can post them here? I could email them or WhatsApp direct to you somehow...
@breedib I just had a look through the video and the only photos I have are at about two minutes in for the first one then at 10:30 for the second. I don't have any clearer photos of how I cut it but I remember that I squared off the end at the swingarm and made a bracket to bolt it to there and I cut the near side edge to fit around the chain guard. It was very much a case of trim an bit and see if it fitted, then do a bit more until I was happy. Hope that helps 😊
Sorry for the delay. I used VHT range of paints for the frame (and the engine) including a self etch primer, primer, topcoat and clear. It really needs baking to harden off properly which I couldn't do so it remained delicate for ages.

Thanks for that 😊
I started to modify my virago after your design, really lov it. Do you have any pictures of how you cut the mudguard?

I want to do this, just dont know where to get parts
Most of the custom parts were from ebay
Looks great. What kind of paint did you use to paint frame?

@@peterthomas7203 Thanks for the info, great work
Hi there, the rods that holds the rear fender, what thickness do they have? 2mm?
@breedib from what I remember, yes, they were 2mm flat bar.
@peterthomas7203 is there any problem while the engine is on? Any visible vibrations? Thanks. Btw my project is getting in shape :D
@breedib I don't own the bike any more, though I am in contact with the guy who bought it. I will ask him to comment here if possible;)
@breedib I asked the buyer and he said it still doesn't vibrate, it's fine.
@peterthomas7203 thank you very much
how'd you get the sanding scratches off the engine? I'm trying to make mine shine again lol
@4am170 just have to keep at it with progressively finer sandpaper then Autosol polish. Loads of how-to videos on TH-cam. Good luck, just keep at it!

Where did you buy exhost pipes? Any link?
Bought from ebay. The ones I had are no longer listed but these seem to be exactly the same 224362333539
What welder did you use to weld the caps on the frame?
Sorry for the delay, just a cheap flux core welder (sometimes called a gasless MIG)
Cheers
What mk means?
Sorry for the delay, it's short for mark, as in mark1, mark2 meaning g version 1 or 2 😊
