Thats my dad on Drums, Johnny Markham..! Im very proud of my heritage….. I just wished and hoped that I would have had more time to get to know my dad..!❤️🙏❤️
That’s my Dada, Red Wootten on Base! He toured with Benny all through this period! When I was a little girl, and he played with the Red Norvo trio,, here Red Norvo is on Xylophone, I used to lay on the floor listening to them practice, or record! It was wonderful!
According to D. Russell Connor's bio-discography of Goodman (Scarecrow Press, Inc. 1988), this program aired live on November 18, 1959 from New York over the NBC Television Network. Goodman also played in an extravagant version of "Sing, Sing, Sing" with the Mitchell Ayers studio orchestra, and vocals by Como, actress Celeste Holm, singer Connie Francis and a chorus. (Author Connor referred to it as a "travesty".)
That's because the cam operator got the wrong cue - and 16 bars before Flip started his new tune in the medley. DIRECTOR's Fault. Damned clever medley, all things all things considered.
No music arrangements! This was truly ad lib. For an ensemble that size they knew what they were doing. How does that compare with the rock musicians of today?

Realmente existiam músicos muito qualificados àquela época!

Hate to point this out as its long past being important, but Como got it wrong, it was January 16th.
Como was usually half asleep.
He said June 16th which is wrong it’s actually January 16th 1938
