thanks for the vids Ryky, pls do Rika vs Arashiyama , i bought the Arashiyama but since i heard lots of positive reviews from the Rika , im thinking about getting both, thanks!
Hi Ryky, I have a question about your lapping plate recommendations - For the Atoma, what grade do you recommend? The link in your description brings up 4 different grades: 140, 400, 600, and 1200. I've just purchased Chosera 800 and 3000 stones based on your channel. Then, just out of curiosity, do you have a second recommendation other than the Shapton plate? Amazon no longer carries it, and when I searched for another vendor, the price was $379, which is a little steep. Thanks!
the 140 if you plan of flattening a lot , or fixing lots of dull chipped knives. 1200, if you want to replace a 1000 grit whetstone. 400, and 600, for for fixing chips that can also flatten stones every once in a while.
I have a king 6000 and I love using it I love the polish it gives my question is what is a good follow up to the King. What will take it to the next level they make an 8000 but haven't seen u use it or heard u talk about it
Hi Rycky. I want my buy my first Whetstone and I thought about buying the KING KDS. But there is another stone by King with a 1000/6000 grit but for less money called the King KW65. Is it as good as the KDS? Thank you.
From what I've found (I own both kw and the kds) it seems like the difference is in the size of the stone. The kw series is for "home use" and are a bit smaller and thinner. Honestly the kw works great as does the kds. I actually like to go from my king kds 800 straight to the Rika 5000. Gives that decently polished edge with a little toothiness that everyone wants so badly. Also this combo gives a beautiful Kasumi if that's what you're looking for. The king 6000 seems to polish the Kasumi out to more of a mirror while the Rika keeps that haziness. All depends on what you want
I honestly think you're saturating your channel with content. Its great content, but i feel like you put out way too many videos with way too many reviews of very similar knives. I very much like your channel, but I think it would grow more and have a better audience if you slow down with production and actually let your viewers get excited about seeing a new video. I havent watched your videos in like weeks, cuz i just see you in my sub box with a bunch of videos i feel like ive seen every day. I used to make videos back in 2012, and videos did much better when I didnt pump out 10 or 15 videos a week. Anywhere from like 1 to 4 videos a week did great.
I haven't really kept up with his videos lately but from what I have skimmed I think a lot of the glut of videos he's been posting are reuploads from his old channel which is now his vlog channel. I agree a bit too much maybe more like 1 a day at the most but hey his channel he's gonna do what he wants.
just the video I was looking for, thanks
Question. Help us understand “snappy”.
That is a very good question, wish I could tell you because I wondered that myself.

How about the King 4000 grit and the 8000 grit polishing stones? Are you planning to check those out?
I have the 8k. Like it even more than the 6k in the KDS.
Mario Hernandez Woc 👍
Got the Rika 5000 for Christmas based on your recommendation....Thanks Ryky

No but it'll do the job fine 👍
Expensive whetstones are for busy sushi chefs and hobbyists(!) most chefs don't require constant razors 😉
Same doubt, i bought the original for U$15 more.
@@renatofbittencourt I actually bought the Cerax 1000 😅
@@juliuskupfer2118 Better

Are these soaker or splash and go?
The King 6000 is splash and go and the Rika 5000 is a soaker.

Fuck off, you couch warrior. You don't have to watch every posting.
Wrong, this is the way you think. More content is better for growth a channel.
