When wei ying died he wasn't truly dead because he became a part of lan zhan and lan zhan knew he was a legend and that's why he searched for Wei ying for ( sorry I can't remember how many years he searched for Wei ying.)

They got it as a chinese drama, covers the whole story with 50 episodes. Called Untamed. While anime has like 12 eps and is more like a summary of the drama.
