The fact that they’re making you feel some kind of way about Grace means that the writers are doing their job.
It’s good to have characters that you might not like, because it adds more of a dynamic and makes the story more interesting. (Also the context of the time they live in makes it even more interesting, since people might act differently from how you would now)
For instance, Campbell is a character to hate, but he’s a great! character and Sam Neill’s amazing at playing him.

*Sam Neill* was supposed to die at the end of series 1, but when *Steven Knight* phoned him up to tell him, *Sam* said he didn't want to leave, so *Steven* had a change of heart, and kept him in for another series.
*Natasha O'Keeffe* wasn't supposed to be in the show for long either, but they liked *Lizzie* that much they made her a permanent character.
*Arthur* the lion will be tamed slightly in series 3, and *Michael* will come out of his cage.
Series 3 is confusing for some people, but it's simple. Here's all you need to know:
Red Russians/Bolsheviks = Communist Russian Government
White Russians = Capitalist Russian (actually Georgian) Petrovna Royal Family = Clearly based on the Romanov Royal Family
The Economic League/The Oddfellows/The Vigilance Committee/Section D/Special Branch = The SIS (Secret Intelligence Service) more commonly known as MI6.

Small correction from a Russian here - White Russians weren't just capitalists, they were monarchists, first of all, supporters of the Russian tsar and the monarchy in the Russian Civil War. Georgia was a part of Russian Empire back then and the duchess' father is Petr Romanov, so her mother might be Georgian or her father was probably just stationed in Tbilisi, that's why she has ties to this city. Petrovna is a patronymic (derived from Petr), not a last name, their last name is Romanov
That scene where he climbs out the grave and breaks down in the field, Idk about anyone else but that's the realest scene in the show and know exactly what thats like from past experiences. Real mf'ers that been through it multiple times know exactly wtf that feels like💯

Peaky blinders too, but they weren't as big and cool as the Shelbys and were more active in the early 1900s:) Alfie's gang is based on the real gang too, called "the Yiddishers" from London. You'll meet more characters in the next seasons who also existed in real life. I love how this show combines real history with fiction. Cheers from Russia!
