    Nice image of the helix, hoping to target this myself this autumn. Sadly at latitude 53°N where I live it never gets that high above the horizon. This guide scope could be a good fit form my 135mm F2 lens set up. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

      Thank you for commenting! Yes, it will work great with 135mm lens!

    Got this one also. And did you know at the eye piece side there is an thread to fit Astrocam? Someone told me last time. I always pushed the astrocam inside and locked it with the nut, but didnt knew there was also an thread. :D

      Hi, Oxizee! Yes, I did. I cover this part in my video (look at 2:35). This guide scope can fit any type of guide camera which is good. I hope you'll be happy to use yours autoguiding set up!

    my phd2 is not recognizing the sv305, do you need any special drivers?

    • @AstroCreation
      @AstroCreation  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I only installed drivers from SvBony website, and PHD2 saw the camera with no issues. Make sure you have drivers for the camera installed.
      I would also suggest to check if the camera is recognized by a different app (FireCapture or SharpCap).

    • @MusicDigitalStudio

      @@AstroCreation thanks. Got it working. The problem was that I also had an sv405cc connected and phd2 wouldn't know which one to choose.

    • @AstroCreation
      @AstroCreation  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@MusicDigitalStudio glad to hear it was resolved! By the way, how do you like sv405cc camera?

    • @MusicDigitalStudio
      @MusicDigitalStudio 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@AstroCreation it is a good camera with its limitations. Basically it is an asi294. I use it with sharpcap and it works great, however I started using an asiair and the 405 doesn't work with it.

    If i connect the mount and guide camera to the computer. Can i use phd2 to set up polar alignment, auto guide setup and then use go to functionality for dsos in the sky

    • @AstroCreation
      @AstroCreation  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, you can! You can use this camera for guiding with PHD2. I know there is a feature that helps to polar align in PHD2, but I have never used it.

    Again, you have put out a video that is easily followed and with no-nonsense information. Thank-you. I just wish I had watched this a couple of weeks earlier, maybe even two-days earlier. I have had total failure with two ZWO guide cameras. I returned one and for the last three days tried to make the ASI220MM-Mini work with PHD2, APT, and SharpCap. That does not happen without too much extreme stress. Yesterday, that is why I suggested two-days earlier, I ordered the SvBony SV905C guide camera. I know it is a color camera, it has got to be a better guide camera than the ASI220 that just does not want to work. I just wish I had seen this video earlier because there is a mono version of the SV305 that is cheaper than what I paid for the ASI220. I had subscribed to your channel a long time ago and I am just now realizing how educational your videos are.

    Hi, did you use stock settings with the sv305? And do you think is sensitivity and field of view is good enough for plate solving?

    • @AstroCreation
      @AstroCreation  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello! Yes, I used native settings. About the second question: are you talking about plate solving images captured with sv305?

    • @andysPARK
      @andysPARK ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@AstroCreation thanks the reply, good to know. And yep, I don't have another camera I can use at the minute and figured it might be good to use the sv305 guide scope to polar align using plate solving.

    • @AstroCreation

      @andysPARK I think you should be able to do it 🤔

    Hello George, thank you so much for the video!, i wonder if this autoguiding setup works in the Skywatcher star adventurer due to it only works in 1 axis (no goto).

    • @AstroCreation
      @AstroCreation  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Giancarlo! As I am aware, Star Adventurer supports guiding, so yes, you can guide using just one R.A. axis.

      Hi. We’re going to experience some cloudy nights during this week, so I’m not sure I can capture this comet. There are many pictures of this comet you can find online from different amateurs. I’ve seen them, and they look great!

  • @testboga5991
    @testboga5991 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    How do you align it with the axis of the scope?

    • @AstroCreation
      @AstroCreation  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I didn't do any additional alignments, but just pointed the guide scope towards the same area of the night sky. Since the focal length of the guide scope is much lower, it makes it easier for an object to appear in both fields of view (a main telescope and guide scope).

    I'm just wondering how can you use it for guiding? Is it from the SV305 to laptop via usb, then from laptop to mount via ST4?

    • @AstroCreation
      @AstroCreation  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello Alfred!
      SV305 is connected to the miniPC through a USB cable. You don't need ST4 port for guiding at all.

    I spent over two hours attempting to get this combination focused... one hour in the daylight and another hour after dark. Tore it off my rig and am not looking forward to another attempt at getting it focused.

    What dew heater are you using with the guide scope?

    • @AstroCreation
      @AstroCreation  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, Brian! I use a dew heater that is powered by Pegasus PowerBox. Here is a link to an option I have: agenaastro.com/dew-not-dew-remover-dn04.html

    What if I split/duplicate the data-feed from the main Camera, with something similar to these web-cam-splitting software apps, and then feed that to the guiding software... in essence, negating the need for a 2nd separate optical detection train for guiding. I guess it could be analogous to OAG as an app+

    • @AstroCreation
      @AstroCreation  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It wouldn't work because it's different exposure time between an imaging camera and guide camera. Guide camera takes loop exposures 1-2 seconds long, while imaging camera takes 60-600 seconds exposures. If you guide using images taken every 300 seconds, it would be the same as capturing without guiding at all.
      Meanwhile, your idea works for planetary imaging when you guide on a planet. Firecapture app allows you to record videos of planets and guide using same frames simultaneously. I talk about it in my lates video: th-cam.com/video/4kZ1VjCSD3k/w-d-xo.html

    • @andysPARK
      @andysPARK ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AstroCreation would it be possible if you just stacked the 1-2 second guide images?

    • @AstroCreation
      @AstroCreation  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@andysPARKyou could do it, but, honestly, I don't think there are a lot of objects this technique would work to. It also depends on what focal length your telescope is, but you can try to do some bright deep sky objects. Once again, if you talk about deep sky imaging.
