Totally agree. I find it a very boring game and even when I go to watch local minor games, I usually leave after 4-5 inning. However, since Ohtani came over, I have followed him while at the Angels, but now I am more interested and watch their games this year. It has become very exciting to watch.

@@gabrielsandoval7331 some fans won’t admit it but they love to hate the Dodgers as much if not more than they love their own team. The Dodgers definitely played a major role in saving baseball. It wouldn’t be the first time either. Breaking the color barrier and moving west changed the game for the better as well.

Worse, it's 460 mil for 10 years. 46 mil invested by the team for 10 years produces 70 mil, hence the 'present value'.

He couldve got paid and paid Cali taxes and reinvest that money and make far much more money. Let alone just placing in savings account. Inflation adjusted he let go more than the tax value. I've been in Japan for 40 years. Since the days of NOMO, the Dodgers have had a huge portion of Japan mindshare. When there was a rumor Ohtani was going to Toronto, I personally thought "not a chance" even though I'm a Blue Jays fan--I've often heard the question, "Do they have baseball in Canada?". Their only rival for mindshare here is, of course, the Yankees.

(Continued) Scene 15: Finally, the climax of the movie, appears the biggest and baddest villain No 5, known on earth, The Great Yankees, with the AL MVP winner, the best hitter, the best player, Aaron “Postseason No Show” Judge, AKA “Error Judge”, his sidekick “Gerrit Call” and Strutting Soto, Hercules Stanton. With numerous key moments by Ohtani in that decisive first WS game, which eventually led to the breakdown of the Evil Empire and LA riding the momentum train, and if not for a few key plays by Ohtani, the rest would have been history repeating itself, yet another failed attempt by the Dodgers to win the WS. Imagine the Tsunamis and the aftermath of spending one billion dollars and not winning a Championship. Imagine all the haters coming out of their caves criticizing every member of the Dodgers organization from Friedman, Roberts, Ohtani, Betts, Freeman, etc. But this year, with Ohtani bringing in the Avengers team, Yoshi, Teo, Glasnow, Tommy, Flaherty, Kopech and crew, thanks to his personal monetary sacrifice or deferrals, along with past huge stars, Clayton, Mookie, Freddie (who never lived up to LA fans expectations and failed repeatedly except for that asterisk 2020 WS), Smith, Muncy, Keke, Rojas, he handed the biggest spotlight to his gang and said, “Hey guys, I carried you all in the regular season, being the stud work horse that I am, playing 161 out of 162 games, now that we’re at the final stage, the World Series, I’m gonna handover the spotlight to you guys!” He slides into second and dislocates, no, “subluxates” his left shoulder. Imagine the impact on his teammates or coaching staff upon hearing this devastating news. Being the leader that Shohei is, he knows the consequences of his injury that might lead to their immediate downfall. He texts in English that he’ll be playing in the WS and plays under severe pain. Wow! The guy is simply not human. The grimace on his face in every at bat or run to bases. I think that text and Ohtani showing up at the first game of the WS was the key moment in stabilizing the mood and aura of the locker room!!!!!! Subconsciously, his teammates had become dependent on his mental toughness and inspired the whole team with his adversity. It sealed their fate and led to victory!
A great script always have more drama and multi-layered like onions, and since baseball is a group sport, what fun would it be if Shohei played the “one man act”? Also, the humble, polite, unselfish human being wanted his teammates to shine at the brightest moment! Indeed, having choked in past postseasons but playing alongside Ohtani, in awe by his incredible performances the playoffs and inspired by him, Mookie finally stepped out of his own shadows and stepped up at the most crucial moment, with all the clutch hits and runs. The Mookie that the Guggenheim signed for millions. Teo, the sun flower spraying charismatic Christian dude that wanted to play alongside Ohtani was having his best season ever, a practically nobody (at least to me), Tommy the NLCS MVP Edman, practically the whole team caught Ohtani fever was inspired by the presence of Ohtani. Yamamoto and Buehler, along with the invincible bullpen were “unhittable”, even Kershaw joined in with his involvement with mentoring the young pitchers who looked up to him and dugout presence, and finally against all odds, the WS MVP, Freddie “The NYY Kreuger” SuperFreeMan came out in Halloweens to hit the biggest grand slam ever! Oh, I forgot to mention the Freddie Dance, so silly yet so much fun, so vital in team comradely and chemistry!!!!
Scene 16: The show didn’t stop there. God played a sad joke on the Yankees, sometimes losing can be so cruel, just as they took game 4 and was riding high on that 11-4 win to head into game 5.😢 That game will always be remembered by fans around the world as “The 5 game”, up 5-0, fifth inning, five crucial moments (3 errors by three key players MVP Judge, Cy Young Cole and grand slam Volpe, a balk, and a catchers interference) and an avengers cast led by no one else but No 5, Freddie the Kreuger…
Scene 17: So why was it a full circle? ⭕️ Well, (1) Ohtani never made it to the postseason despite being one of MLB’s biggest stars. (2) Dodgers OGs have been questioned and criticized heavily about their 2020 60 games asterisk WS claiming it was not real, and they never got to attend a parade. Imagine the pressures and criticism they and their families had to face. (3) Dave Roberts, most often criticized and scrutinized by media and fans that he’s not a good manager finally won a true blue Championship with his brilliant use of the pitching staff and roster depth, matchups. ⭕️
Scene 18: as the movie comes to an end, the director aims his camera on one Christmas morning, a knock on the door, Dave Roberts answered the door, the camera focused on a hand (presumably Ohtani’s) hands over a set of keys. The final scene, Dave Roberts looks out the driveway send sees a “Dodgers Blue” Porsche Cayenne and smiles. In the background, we can hear Ohtani say, “It’s yours!”
    The rest is history!
And Ohtani achieved all these feats in his TJ surgery recuperating year! GOAT!
Unknown among us, the worst villain No 6, the demon inside all of us, our most feared enemy, OURSELVES was inside Ohtani all this time but he persevered and conquered his own fears, insecurity and darkness.
Of course the overall MLB MVP goes to Ohtani!
Why? He was the “Chosen One”, the Messiah with the prophecy that he will lead the Dodgers to their FIRST PARADE since 1988, their TRUE World Series win, and the start of a legacy that will forever be remembered in the hearts and minds of fans like us!
Coming soon is the sequel: “The Ohtani Legacy”
    Excuse my poor rusty English.
    The End! ⭕️

Every team isn’t “stupid for not signing Ohtani”.
There’s only 1 Ohtani. All 30 teams would have loved to have signed him. The Dodgers sweetheart “mostly differed” contract for Ohtani wasn’t on the table before Ohtani signed. The State of CA tax review is furious with this differed contract because Ohtani might not be paying taxes on a majority of that 700 million (if he moves out of CA when the Dodgers pay him later down the road). Many more teams would have pushed much harder for Ohtani if that sweetheart contract opportunity was known beforehand, because $700mil is staggering at face value, especially when not differed. What if Ohtani has a career destroying injury, like what’s happening to Mike Trout? So there is the risk to consider as well. Ohtani didn’t want to play for most MLB markets. He wanted a big market that could provide expansive Japanese media coverage (mostly LA, NY, possibly Boston or Seattle). He was already familiar with the LA area, having played for the Angels for several seasons. So the stars aligned for the Dodgers to sign him.

Your next topic on the show should be about MLB equally promoting its franchises on the global stage. The people of each city will do their own unique marketing for sure. But MLB should be uplifting every single franchise and not just the typical ones. Yes, most teams should be doing more to improve. That goes without saying. But let's not act like if the Yankees missed the playoffs for the next five years, baseball media will still dedicate entire segments to them. I mean no shade to NY fans. But if Milwaukee or Colorado became the next dynasty, there should be Brewers and Rockies hats being seen in mainstream society.
The New York Knicks shit the bed for more than a decade. New York is home to NBA head offices and world's most famous arena. They expanded their efforts during that time and popularized merchandise and coverage for OKC, Toronto and even Denver.

No, Soto is never worth more than Trout & Judge ! Soto was too lucky to have FA right after Ohtani because Ohtani's too huge a success gave the wrong expectation of Soto able to give his new team the same profits earnings like Ohtani. However, unlike Ohtani who is able to motivate the whole giant Japan markets, most Japanese people, and most Japanese cooperations behind him, Soto has little of these kinds of economic impacts to his country(far too small economic effects compared to Japan), baseball fans, MLB in general, local economies of home team & on the road. Soto isn't even considered as any international star level. He's a famous MLB star in US & his country but he isn't definitely being internationally recognized like Ohtani and he also wouldn't get one-third of that kind of popularity that Ohtani can achieve in US (not even the level like Judge, Harper, & Trout)!

@@omgbygollywowlet me explain this . Do you have a 401 K account? If you put about 100 a month and during 10 years with interest rates . You get around 32000. That’s how the deferred money work. That’s what happens to Ohtani contract. The Union requires the Dodgers put 46 mil a year in a 401 like account . After 10, Ohtani cashed out with 700 mil. That’s why his present value is 46. Imagine you put 98% of your monthly paycheck to 401 K account. That’s essentially the Ohtani contract. That’s why nothing will happen to the Dodgers because the deferred contracts are so awesome for team and great for players who can afford it.. in the end, the Dodgers will be fine
