This version really gives that feeling of hopelessness and sadness, knowing that anytime the moon is about to crash and nothing can stop it, it is really well done, specially using the sound effects of the game in certain parts really added character to it.
Tic, Tock goes the clock The moon looking down to you in mock, Tic, Tock sounds the clock, The world looks back in shock, Tic, Tock rings the clock Then suddenly it stops... You have meet with a terrible fate...
I just hope that someone makes a Majora's mask based Doctor Who episode. Where the moon gets a face, of course, and the doctor gies back three days in time just when the moon is about to fall, but eventually confronts someone that resembles the Skull kid, and saves the day. Whoa, that could be a dark and awesome Doctor Who episode.
At 3:43, i can imagine Link going to the observatory and taking one last look at the moon. Then the Moon's Tear falls and Link goes outside to examine it. He picks it up, and then looks at the moon one more time. From this close, he puts the pieces together and realizes that the Moon's expression was not an angry one, as many had believed, but a grimace. The moon's in pain and is scared. One more thing for Link to save.
epic and beautiful, i can see it too in fact when i first played the game and got the moon tear i thought that the moon was crying because the skull kid was forcing it to fall and crash on to earth nice to see that i was not the only one thinking that the moon was a victim and not an enemy.
@@Iceferno (yes i know my comment is over a year late, but who gives a damn lmao) i have listened to the 2013 mix, and don't get me wrong, it's not a bad remix, i just prefer this one plus it has a more,, how do i say this,,, "nostalgic" feel to it?
@@CyanStarr It came before, so I get that. The main thing I personally think I achieved in the update was something more faithful to the atmosphere of the original.
Insanely good Ice. This serves justice to all Last Day remixes that didn't transcend the original. This is sublime music. You deserve millions of views.
Every time I see new details involving things the developers wanted us to find out about on our own (such as "last hour"), i get more and more chills to my spine... Thanks for pointing that out! Cheers
There is no happiness, there is no joy, only the boy in green, in a town of nothing, the clock, twelve striketh thee, the moon above, laughing, the mask salesman's words ringing in his ears. "You've met with a terrible fate."
This gave me chills. And when you incorporated the astral theme near the end, those chills had chills. One of the best non-official Zelda tracks I’ve heard. You’re an artist. PSA: Do yourself favor and listen with headphones. Let the bass at the end flow through you.
The transition to the astral observatory caught me off guard. AWESOME! just a month and a week until I blast this and many other mixes of it really loud!
Well done on all of your "rebuilds." They stay true to the original pieces and the sentiments of the game but are also laden with originality. If anything, they bring back memories. Thanks.
Absolutely brilliant. You've captured the exact emotions of this tune flawlessly. That feeling of loss, of hopelessness, as if the doom to come is inevitable. Perfect. I love it! Nice one.
I've heard so many remixes of Last Day that they've all begun to blend together in my mind. This is so much different. It not only stands out from the crowd, but it actually made me feel as if I were hearing the track for the first time. It drew out buried memories my first wonderful moments playing Majora's Mask when I was just a little kid and let me relive them vividly. For that, I thank you. If you manage to apply the same brilliance to Calling the Four Giants, it might melt my ears off!
I was going to press the like button, but even tho I'm sure I never clicked this vid before and it wasn't on my historic or library, somehow I had already liked this. Dam youtube and IceyOnly, your music is so awesome it's scary o.o
Oh, and 3:45 is just pure emotional genius. It adds so many layers to the song that it's almost silly. It's way too good. The hopeful chimes that are being shadowed by the lamenting sounding backtrack is just haunting.
Great description right there. Y'know, I've actually tried synching the remix up whilst playing, but the final hours count down faster than normal seconds, so I'd probably have to start the remix during the firework sequence. lol Thanks for your comment :) Glad you like this one. I'm actually almost ready to put up another Clouddrifter Remix. It's gonna be another Beach Build, like the Wave Race 64 Theme.
Excellent, excellent. So often remixes lose the magic of the original piece, and for me, touching Majora's Mask music is treading on sacred ground. But my god sir, you pulled it off. Bravo.
@culturesmusic Hey :) Good to hear from you again and thanks! I don't know how, but I've been really inspired to make these chillout MM remixes. I also tested this song last weekend right when it turned 12pm on the final night ingame. I was really impressed how well it fits. I know it's kinda expected since it's the song but I think I managed to retain the same overall emotion in the remix. Definitely one of my best this year!
This sure is a fine remix. It feels so sad and stil so beautiful. In the end it sounds just like the last people of Termina all got together into the Astral Observatory to get a last moment of beauty and wonders and maybe happiness before the moon finally crushes the land and it all ends.
This was by far one of the best games i've ever played, the music, the gameplay, story, and everything else rolled up into a 10 gallon container of kickass in 1/2 gallon can. Long Live LoZ!
this is great! around the 2:44 mark I think it would be appropriate to have some deep, resonating and echoing hits in there. it will definitely add some extra mood to what you already have. great stuff! look forward to see more of your work on OCR
This song always reminds me that no matter what you do, you always feel like its all for nothing, why are you trying, only a couple minutes left until the moon hits the world. But then you remember all the people Anju,Kafei,The three spirits that are in your masks, and Zelda who you promised that you would return to Hyrule one day. So you get up, grab your sword and start running up to the clock tower to have one final face off with skull kid.
@Bree1648 Thanks so much :) I attempted this remix about 3 times. There are maybe a few little things that could've been better, as stated on the OCR topic. But I'm happy enough with this one to share it. They say the harshest judge is one's self, and for remixing the legendary Koji Kondo, you really have to be. :P
Great mix. 3:46 It’s striking how seamlessly Moonlight Sonata fits with the observatory music here, and feels very reminiscent of Oath to Order. Was that an intentional reference, or just the result of adapting Oath to fit the melody of the observatory? In either case, it gives some insight into the way some of the music for this game was composed.
Thanks for your feedback, and to all others reading. :) You can find similar-sounding music in some playlists I recently made. The Lifestream Mix is good for this kind of thing, and stuff more like Zora's Domain can be found in my Summer Mix list.
That's very cool :) and yes, it is very hard! It takes a genius like Mr. Koji Kondo to compose music like that :3 The SMG soundtrack just TOTALLY blew me away though! Such emotion put in his music! Your remixing was very good here too! :D I loved it, you did a great job.
I could admit it... three years ago. I've moved more away from vg remixes lately. I'm glad to have done them. The Astral Observatory (Clouddrifter Rebuild) is one of my best ambient creations. But I need to shift focus onto other things.
I had the chance to play this game at the age of 11 on N64 in 2000, I remain deeply marked by this universe. The most beautiful experience of my life. Miyamoto thank you, thank you Nintendo.
@1314thunder Thanks for the kind words and yeah, feel free to use it in your video with name/link credits :) I'm glad people have taken to this remix, but I think my best Zelda remix is of the Song Of Healing. I was so in the zone with that. lol
I see. I respect your decision. The music is all amazing though. Being a major fan of Majora's Mask, and music in general, I can grasp and appreciate these fine works for their worth - which to me personally is priceless. So much attention to detail in your remix's. How can I describe this in words... you feel relaxed, yet tense at the same time (this song) You captured the atmosphere perfectly.. All of these VGM remix's have so much emotion it's hard for anyone NOT to like them.
@LostTomorrows I've actually tried synching it up with the 6 in-game hours. You need to be quite a bit over 6 since the in-game minutes tick away slightly faster than seconds. :P
@M249M4A1 Thanks for feedback :) Yeah, some good pointers there. For some reason, the falling star bits sound from Super Mario Galaxy came to mind when you said that :P Anyways, I did another VG remix yesterday which I also put on OCR (Look for the Mystical Ninja (1998) topic in that same "Post Your Game ReMixes!" section).
Dem Goosebumps EDIT: Can't respond to week old comments anymore MM is darker than TP, because in MM Death is inevitable, and Everywhere. You find one of your forms in Majora's Mask on your entrance, you meet the ghost of your second, and you watch the third die after you save him. You also put at ease the deceased spirits of the four temples, you command a dead army and defeat their king, you battle undead Ninjas, save a man from becoming a Gibdo, and so on and so forth. Death is Inevitable, and Everywhere, in Majora's Mask.
I may have already said this, but I reckon it might be a dream link had, as there are quite a number of similarities to Hyrule, but also the kind of obsurdities you might only get in dreams. I can't accept the idea that Link would be dead. It's a game for the younger gamers, after all. And despite MM's creepy/doomed nature, I don't think it'd be an appropriate possibility for the main character, the one the gamer plays as, to be dead. I do hope Nintendo go through with the remake, but I still say it should be for 3DS. It'd make an excellent portable game.
Iceferno Remixes I hope its not a dream or anything like that i'd really like another game based in termina with the same atmosphere as MM i've never had such a good time or such an attachment to a game other than this hope Nintendo figures there shit out
I think that's what he may have been going for. Not everyone feels panic and dread at the hour of doom, some seek out and find what comfort they can, and hold on to it for what time they have left. It's just another take on the song to convey another aspect of human nature when faced with the end of the world, and that's the sign of a good remix IMO. But I won't dislike your comment, everyone has their own taste in music. To each his own.
@DiegoAchcar33 Glad you enjoy it :) I've said it a few times on here already, but I'm hoping to do Calling The Four Giants next. It might be awhile before that one appears though. I've gotta get it right. ;)

This is more than perfect, props to you, man If a remake of MM comes out for 3DS This, this has to be the last day music, I don't care what the hipsters say.
@SlySpaceChicken Damn, CTFG is really in demand for me now lol. I'll get it done one of these days, but it's tough to make these Zelda remixes. Thanks for your comment :) I try to both re-create and add new elements to these classic songs and it's nice to know the effect it has on listeners because that's what I try to do with all music I create.
that was amazing that song took my breath away it was such a sad song it realy put a fealing into the song the fealing is kinda like when the world is safe from the moon falling down but link kills himself in order to save the world. awsome job.
Honest that it has such a dark doom like aura yet tries to comfort you in those last moments, and a mask so vibrant, so colorful, yet unaware of its evil or painful past... Is majora sad, or vengeful?
Well, the original had it in-game of course, but on the soundtrack, it's just the BGM. There's a website I got the sound effects from. I forget, but it has the sfx from just about every Zelda game.
@subadfish909 Yeah I really love Last Day too. I wanted to pay close tribute but also turn it into a song rather than a loop. I did the same with Astral Observatory. I have plans for more MM remixes, a Twilight Princess one, and maybe even an OOT one. :)

This, this has to be the last day music, I don't care what the hipsters say.
Crazy how we still come back to the old games
u really cant have a final hours track without the bells...finally i found a remix that has them
@SlySpaceChicken Damn, CTFG is really in demand for me now lol.
I forget, but it has the sfx from just about every Zelda game.
i will
@BloodyGrovyle Appparently most glitches don't work on the PAL version. Which sucks, cause I've seen a Fierce-Deity-whenever-you-want glitch too.
I like how you threw astral observatory up in the mix :D
@subadfish909 Yeah I really love Last Day too. I wanted to pay close tribute but also turn it into a song rather than a loop. I did the same with Astral Observatory. I have plans for more MM remixes, a Twilight Princess one, and maybe even an OOT one. :)
