I don't know that I've commented on a TH-cam video in the nearly two decades I have been using the site, but I just wanted to say thank you Danny. Multiple hours, checking fuses, checking connections and testing for power... only to have my savior come in the form of a few hammer strikes. I can put my window up finally and order a new motor in the meantime. Percussive maintenance, on the advice of an absolute sage. Thank you so much!

Great video! I learned all about my window motor and saved a bunch of money. I was at the O'Reilly's parking lot when I saw this video because they didn't have my window motor for my 04 civic si. I have my oem that stopped working and was originally planning on swapping out the motor and keeping the mechanism until I saw the hammer trick you did and BAM! it's started working again. Video's like this make my day. Thank you for the work and information on this video, it is much appreciated! Saved me a couple hundred $$ watching this video and fixing it myself. Thanks Mr. Danny!

Thank you, thank you! Your video worked perfectly! I followed all of the troubleshooting steps in this video and it turned out great. Whacked it with a hammer a couple of times, and voila, the window worked again. For those who are not electricians, the other end of the electrical tester has an alligator clip on it that needs to be connected to a grounded metal source like the metal door hinge.

  • @panatingolino

The hammer smack-a-mole thingy worked for me! Put that at the start of the video, plz! Huge time saver specially for us not electric multimeter nerds.
My 06 Civic front driver's window stopped working after I removed locks to paint the car and put them back on. Thanks to MC Hammer, now I have GREAT working windows.
Will start using that hammer to fix other electric stuff now 😉.

Thanks for the video Danny. I would definitely order the part now. Sometimes those parts are back ordered 6 months or more for the simplest things.
I ordered a window gasket for the drivers side of my 2006 Element.
The Honda parts guy said that the part had an order code that showed a back order date with a floating due in date. (the part is due in on a date, but if it doesn't show up, the dated gets pushed back 30 days. This will continue until the part arrives or not) The gasket never did arrive to the original dealer I ordered it from.
After waiting 30+ days and a lot of calling around, I found the gasket at a dealer way out of town. That dealer would not ship it, but would hold it for 24 hrs. if I pick it up. I ended making a special trip just to get it.
    That's my parts story : )
    Bill

Thank you for this informative video. I have a '09 Civic but the window motor works. The issue is the window seems to slide out of place when going up, after which the window is automatically lowered a couple inches (doesn't close completely). However, when I apply pressure to the top left portion of the window as it goes up, the windows rolls up without any hesitation. What do you think the issue could be?

    • @dannysdiygarage
      @dannysdiygarage  ปีที่แล้ว

Remove the panel, check the windows channel, most likely it will need the regulator assembly, but pull it apart it could be a loose or missed bolt causing an alignment issue

Danny, thanks for your video. My driver side window motor has been very sluggish. It stopped working, yesterday, leaving the window partially open.
Before taking it apart, I tried slamming the door 3 times and hitting the inside of the door with the side of my fist. It didn't help last night.
Today, I got in my car, started it up and the motor started working again so that I could fully close the window.
I think I'm going to order a new motor. They only cost about $26.
My question is do you think it's the grease on the gears that's gummed up or are there nylon gears in these motors that just wear out ?
Also, is it possible to open the motor and clean it up and or lubricate the gears or is it sealed? From looking at a picture of a new one, the motor appears to be mounted with two phillips head screws.
    Thanks, Gary

Hope somebody answer my question (Honda Accord 2006). Can a glass window ran in its canals so bad to the point that burnt the electric motor? This question is because I just installed a new motor and regulator (combo) and it worked for a little while then burned fuse… after replacing fuse and with the window switch in my hands I connected the old electric motor (out of the window) and it runs perfectly. Now I ended with the window driver stacked all the way up… but with a new part in it.
Note.- If there is any video dealing with this same issue… can you post the link?
