Keum boo - What is it and How do I do it? - Lorna Romanenghi Jewellery

Have you ever heard of Keum-boo?
Well if you haven't then let me show you!
Keum-boo is an ancient Korean gilding technique that allows you to fuse 24ct Gold Foil to Silver.
It's an incredibly specialized technique that requires a lot of practice and dedication, but today I'm going to be showing you not only how I do it and what it looks like, but I will also be introducing you to 2 different ways of actually doing it!

Thank you! I don't know the exact degrees as I do it by eye, but if you're using a hot-plate you can tell if your piece is at the correct temperature by holding a toothpick against it and if the end of the toothpick goes black it's hot enough :) I hope this helps

It's trickier than flat for sure. I was actually doing some 3D Keum-booing today and it is a bit more of a headache, but so rewarding!
