Yeah the 3m polishing wheels will take the gold off.
The food grade gold leaf works? I thought I had to buy more expensive gold leaf from jewellery stores.
The problem with the food grade Gold leaf is it's very very thin so you have to use multiple layers of it to make it work
The gold on silver is highly stuck? or it's just stuck like weak glue ?

I have seen some people use it on copper but I have never done it with anything but silver.
will this layer of gold go away when you heat treat it?
Heat treat it? This the last thing that you do after all heating and soldering.
Thank you beautiful video 👏👏👏
I have a question for you, how did you make the texture on the bottom plate of the pendant? Thank you!!
I I remember right it was a diamond bur. I used a very fin tipped one and just ran it over the surface of the metal to get that texture.
What is the square piece of metal that you have on the hot plate? Is that necessary when you are heating the pendant?
It's just a sheet of copper or brass. It helps to keep you item from getting scratches and it also transfers heat really well. 😁👍
Do I have to apply the gold leaf on a flat plate of silver and then deform, for example with a convex shape or deform my piece first and then apply the gold leaf?

ow were you able to patina it when you burned the copper off before the Keum boo process? Isn't it the copper that blackens it?

Hi there! I was wondering if you’ve ever continued to do solder work on a piece after it’s been keum boo treated? I ask because my work starts flat but then gets shaped and more solder work ends up being applied after the part that would be best to apply Gold. It’s not direct flame, but it would be essentially annealed again.
So if you try and solder or heat it too much with the gold on it it will burn off or just kinda fade away.
If you can protect the gilt area with refractory soldering clay it stands a better chance of surviving additional soldering.
Are you able to save the extra gold to use again for another keum boo piece that you took off from the sides and in the crevices?
Is there any reason to not position the gold while the piece is still cool, then just let it all heat up and then bond it at temperature?
So you said ten min in the LOS. I’ve heard it said that if in LOS too long if can flake off, have you hade that ever happen?
It does on some thing some times but I have left it in over night before and it had no problem with flaking off. I have even put the parts into a Tumblr with steel shot and it cut came out black and shiny.
