  • i can't believe this is happening.... Shout out Samsung for sponsoring this video. smsng.us/Lauren... Even though I knew this baby could come at anytime I was not expecting this night. Nothing is ready, the nursery is a mess, and we're freaking out. This pregnancy has been a roller coaster of emotions.

I’m a labor delivery nurse! I think you’re gonna need a good 2 months for yourself to really get adjusted. Take blankets and pillows and other comfort essentials because a lot of people tend to forget the basic things. The fact that you’re already 2cm is amazing! That means things will go a little faster ❤️ I can’t wait to see how your experience will go. But definitely don’t feel like you have to bring us along for the entire journey of being a mom

Girl I’m 28 and gave birth three weeks ago to my beautiful baby girl. Let me tell you… being a first time mom is something else! It’s neither easier nor harder than expected but it’s completely different from what I imagined. All the feelings and the emotions and the pain and the joy… it’s absolutely crazy. But don’t be scared because you’re going to figure everything out really quick! For me the first week was HARD but then it got a little bit easier every day. I mean it’s still hard and stressful but it’s worth it everytime my precious little angle is in a good mood and feels safe. Just trust your instincts and everything is going to be just fine.
One thing I completely underestimated was breast feeding! Nobody told me that it takes time (approximately 3 days after birth) for the milk to kick in! I was crying at the hospital thinking my child is starving but it’s normal for new moms to only have a little bit of colostrum or in my case not have anything at all. Your child will survive and you HAVE to keep giving him your breast every 2 to 3 hours in order for your body to produce milk. And it is PAINFUL! My nipple ripped in one place but it’s fine…. Trust me I couldn’t take it anymore and wanted to quit so badly but I pushed through the pain and now breastfeeding is my favorite thing to do. It feels like it’s going to take forever for the pain to go away but it’s only going to be a couple days I promise. And if he’s not latching here in Germany we have something that translates to „breastfeeding hats“. It’s like a fake nipple made out of silicone and you can put it over your nipple and it’s easier for the baby to latch. I have to use them because my nipple goes inside my breast so basically the baby has nothing to suck on. Maybe there is something similar in the states.
For maternity leave I can only say that I took two years but I will have to go back to work after 14 months because I’m only going to get paid for 14 months and I think that’s not going to be enough time. So I will figure something out… maybe work from home or only going back part time.
Good luck and I wish a safe and peaceful delivery

Here's my advice, don't try to figure out how much time you will need for leave, wait until he's born, and gauge it by how you feel afterwards!! You could feel horrible and exhausted, or you could feel like a brand new woman and want to go back into your pre- baby routine. So don't put that kind of pressure on yourself. Once he's here, you'll know how much time you'll want to take!! Don't worry about things you're not sure of. It will all come naturally to you!! Good luck ❤
The formula I used, because the hospital formula was too hard on my boys' tummies, is "Good Start!!" It's gentler on newborns tummies and help with colic. Good Start also has formula that has DHA which is great for their brain development!! Something to consider!! 😊

I would say at least 12 weeks of maternity. The first 12 weeks is the toughest in my opinion. Your baby is figuring out the difference between day and night and by 12 weeks there's a good chance he'll have figured that out and be sleeping a big chunk of the night and you'll both get better sleep. 12 weeks was a big turning point for me where I felt a bit more like myself again. I personally took 12 months of maternity. But everyone is so different, it's not something you have to decide beforehand. Just take each day as a comes and you'll naturally know when to come back. Sending prayers to you for a perfect birth ❤

It all goes by so fast... but my desire to see you is just my selfishness. Of course, take as much time as you wish; don't give yourself a deadline. Record everything for your memories, post and edit whenever you have the chance even if it’s out of order when you do post. If you worked a different job they give you 8 weeks of leave. Which honestly isn’t enough you will be tired, you’ll be getting into a routine. I think one video a week is probably perfect, and if that’s too much pull back it’s definitely not a walk in the park and it’s your first for every thing 💙

I've never realized how beautiful and fun pregnancy could be for a couple. I think I have changed my mind about not wanting kids. I've always seen it as 'work' and not as something so fun and exciting. Y'all are going to be great parents!

WOW. I had to pause the video at 7:25 to come comment about the way Henny handled that conversation with you, making sure you were okay, and assuring you he’d handle everything he could over night. I pray this is how it goes with my husband! So happy for you both

Good job Henny, that baby doesn't need much. He only needs the basics. All that baby needs is you both.

You’ll know Mama! I was a first time mom and gave birth 8 month ago. The birth contractions will be painful. The key to remember and it’s so easy 😅 accept help at your apartment and relax now while you can. sleep now while you can. Take a good nice shower now while you can. You guys will be the best.. I was scared too, the nurses were so helpful. It was such an empowering exhilarating experience and I can’t wait to do it again.

My little boy is 9 months old & im a full time supervisor for a family therapy program. ; in the state I live I got a 20 week maternity leave due to a c-section. I’m glad I took the whole leave at once due to having to use daycare and I just wasn’t ready to hand my baby over to someone else.
The first 2-3 weeks I was running on adreline getting into a routine.
By 8 weeks he was sleeping 4-5 hour chunks & by 12 I felt ready to go back to work physically & mentally.
But listen to your body & yourself. The time is sooooo precious. I loved soaking in the newborn snuggles, and moments. Now he is crawling & standing, and I surely miss the tiny baby piece!

Hi Lauren!! I watch a lot of people who are moms that don’t make their kids the main event in their videos, but it’s just them doing life as a mom and I love it. I have no expierence at all so feel free to disregard, but from what I watch I would say expect to be far more tired than you think. At the same time, you and Henny are like the ultimate team so you’ll both do great. Maybe vlog it with the intention that its for yourself to look back on and then have it on standby for later down the road to possibly edit and put up for us after you’ve been through it and processed it all. Just because you film I wouldn’t want you to pressure yourself to put the content out in real time. I believe you’ll know when you’re ready once you get there :) Gooodluck❤

Hey Lauren! Love your videos, just a little advice if you’re planning to pump, make sure to label the milk and write down the time it was pumped!! Milk pumped at night has melatonin and can help the baby sleep better!! Love you guys I’m so happy for you!

Yes! Great comment. And get a lactation consultant from your doctor or hospital in case latching isn’t working. you can rent a hospital type pump if you need to from a pharmacy. They’re way faster if you need to pump in the beginning. And do not feel guilty/bad if breastfeeding doesn’t work for you. My baby is about to be 20 years old and is so smart and funny and I used formula from Costco!😂
