  • Someone asked a while ago if the rocks I tumble sell. Today I answer that question and explain how it works for me and hopefully a few tips if you want to get rid of a few of the stones you've polished.

Sounds like your finding your path towards the jewelry as profit. Awesome! I've been contemplating a home-made tumbler and lap grinder/polisher for a long while. Can wait to see your tumbler build. All the best.

Thanks! I'm actually building TWO tumblers. I'm hoping to have the build videos up within the next month.

You've got the right attitude/vibes for this line of hobby turning to a profit. A home made tumbler? I look forward to that!!! I was offered a tumbler years ago in a way that it was acceptable for me to decline it after they used it in my presence.. They make TOO MUCH UNPLEASANT NOISE. I didn't have a chance to look it over, but there has to be, for my environment, a way to muffle the continuous noise... Even if placed in a garage with all doors and windows closed... From this video alone, I'm going to subscribe.

Wow! Thank you for the great compliment. You are definitely not wrong, tumblers are noisy beasts. That's why I'm cleaning out my outdoor shed to turn it into my lapidary shop. Get those beauty making beasties somewhere I can't hear them. There will be a video of that when it happens, of course.😁

My son has an awesome rock collection. He also gets "fancier" rocks that are cut into unique shapes that are made out of the more unusual stones. He has an awesome collection....obsidian skulls, a heart carved out of labradorite, a dragon carved out of soapstone, a huge malachite egg and a lapis lazuli egg, to name a few. He likes to get brass holders for them too, which really makes some of them stand out....
So as a father to a son who likes rocks, I can answer your question. Yes, rocks sell. I have bought many, many rocks. lol. What you have in the plastic bins individually is what he would like to buy and he keeps them in a "fancy" glass jar for display.

That's awesome. I've noticed that even when I already know what's in the container I still stop to look through it. A glass jar would be hours of fun.

They are. They draw a lot of attention to my booth and sets me apart from the other jewelry crafters.
