Ys X Nordics will be my November JRPG of the month. (technically October since the game releases on 25th) All out support to NISA!! I just finished Trails Through Daybreak and my palate cleanser for these past few weeks is Fae Farm
There is an absolutely crazy time for JRPGs... Visions of Mana, Metaphor ReFantazio, Romancing Saga 2, Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D, Fantasian Neo Dimension, etc. I feel bad for the indie devs because I have no time to even think about their games right now. And that still doesn't mention Starfield's expansion and Diablo 4's expansion, which I also want to play. Indie devs need to learn to release their games in January, or April -> July. The September -> December slot is the worst time to release a game. February/March is also not great.
Metaphor has already started owning my October what with that HUGE demo they dropped! Glad I ordered the collector's edition immediately because this game is going to really be something special.
I just tried Metaphor: Re:Fantazio demo (Im sorry but what an unattractive title to pick for thr game) and the battle and explorstion system is extremely similar to Trails of Daybreak , with Persona 5 battle system elements. Meh, it was flashy but it didnt feel like anything new, unfortunately. However, the story sequences were beautiful and the plot is really dark with cool world building. I’m looking forward to Romancing Saga 2 remake. Can’t go wrong with a remade classic especially one that was a pioneer for RPG’s in the 90’s when almost every game being released was so different and so fun. I would LOVE to see Breath of Fire 2/3/4 remade. That would be absolutely epic!
8-bit adventures 2 is phenomenal. 1. Steal from any enemy with the special symbol. 2. Switch party members constantly while in battle. There's no penalty for doing so, and they're all useful in certain game situations. 3. Once you get more than three party members, always switch your three fastest party members to the front-line so that you get initiative. You can swap to a slower character with no penalty, so there's no downside. 4. Favour debuffs over buffs. You'll often fight bosses who can remove buffs from your party, and you'll be switching out characters so often that it'll usually mitigate the benefits of buffs.
Final Fantasy Anniversary collection, which I already pre-ordered on Switch for my Softball performance, Ys X, and the Goblin Slayer game all look to be on my radar. I hope those games fill me with satisfying, fun experiences, and the Final Fantasy anniversary collection will be worth it.
Metaphor is pre ordered and the same with Romancing Saga 2, Ys X and Dragon Age. I am most hyped for Metaphor and Romancing Saga 2. The demo's were sooo good.
I liked the demo for Metaphor so much, that game is in the pre-order waiting to be devoured. I'm also looking forward to Ys X and Dragon Age. The other games are looking great as well but since I have a huge backlog of games these are the ones that gets my focus. (I still need to start/finish Yx: Monstrum Nox).
8bit adventures looks like my kind of game, love those old pixel art games. Its a pretty stacked month, I already preordered FF pixel remaster (PS4), Metaphor ReFantazio and Romancing SaGa 2 and Ys X, currently playing Visions of Mana which has been a gem so far. Its a great time to be a fan of RPGs. I have no idea what I'm going to play next but it's nice to have multiple great options.

Those ys soundtrack always be cooking, loved the SaGa 2 demo, and being the most friendliest SaGa be excited to play that, metaphor was really fun in the demo i wonder if the gameplay will have more depth at the end at least the field battles, but my most anticipated game for this month its Ys X 100%
Because of the luner games it got me missing older rpgs and want remaster of Arc Rise Fantasia. It was such a fun game I love it's tetris skill boxes where you have different skills shape like teris boxes and if you want to use alot of skills than you need to place them just right. It was a fun RPG on the Wii I like it more than Xenoblade at less it was easier to play.
at first I was so passive on Metaphor, but hearing you and Jesse Cox talk about it previously I had to try the demo when it dropped. I was sucked in, Persona without current time stuff and more of a Fantasy world? There goes the rest of my RPG time for the year.
Wow, there are absolutely no words 😢 about how great the Indi JRPG beloved rapture has been for me. This has been my very first experience ever playing a true genuine Indi JRPG. I never realized when it came to the developers who created such a game that there are truly "no holds barrs" when it comes to certain situations and story development. Ok ok major spoiler alert ⚠️ (I might be overthinking this)..... but this was the first actual videogame I had the opportunity of playing that actually had the capital R involved in it. (Of course it was offscreen, thank goodness) I could be crazy or seeing things, but one can clearly see the protagonist's mother on the floor covered in blood with her clothes torn. 😢
Sky Ocean looks cool! I downloaded the demo but haven’t played it yet. Maybe I’ll hold off if it’s not being perceived well. As much as I’m excited for Metaphor, I’m _that much more_ excited for Ys X Nordics!! Also, I’ve never played a SaGa game, but this one looks really cool. Thanks as always, David!
I'm not a big fan of the retro style of games but "Card-en-Ciel" looks interesting as well as "Flint." I've lso always wanted to try an "Ys" game and this looks like as good as any to try.
Of these, the Romancing SaGa 2 remake looks the most interesting, which is saying something, because I usually don't go for remakes; this looks transformative enough to be interesting, and we know that this studio puts out quality work. Of course, I'm still only on Final Fantasy Legend 2, so I'm several SaGa games behind... Probably no purchases this month, though, since I'm working through older RPGs, like Arabian Nights, GOD, maybe Shadowrun (SNES), and right now, Secret of the Stars; I'm hell-bent on finishing it and forming my own opinion on it, no matter how bad it gets.
I have Ys X Nordics pre ordered, I do have some more games pre ordered in October but they aren't rpgs, Rain Code for the PS5, Tomb Raider 1,2 and 3 Remastered physical for the PS5 and Life is Strange Double Exposure for the Series X, physical.
6:24 bought japanese copy on launch in february 2024 because they said it comes with english patch! but they went back on their word upon release! until now no english patch for this game
Man, there are way too many JRPGs for the rest of the year, I'm currently playing Visions of Mana, and I have to put Metaphor in the backlog because the game is apparently 90 hours long (as long as Persona 5 vanilla) it's either Ys X or DQ3 for me next.
I gotta finish my playthrough of Trails through Daybreak before the 10th because I know I'm going to focus exclusively on ReFantazio once it comes out. The demo for it has me 💯 on board for a day one purchase.
If Metaphor Refantazio had a switch version I’d buy it❤ hopefully the games gets ported to whatever the next switch system is🤔 I have a ps5 but I prefer handheld gaming to console gaming ( with a few exclusive exceptions)😊

Another backlog month for me. I could be wrong, but I don't think that I have any day one purchases planned until Fantasian in early December. Most of Aug and Sept went to 100%'ing Fate/stay night VN (about 110 hours). I am wrapping up Secret of Mana on the Wii VC: the playthrough started in 2014 with two friends but ended up abandoned at Grand Palace at the end of 2016. I just want this off my backlog and am going at it solo for the final stretch. Not sure what I'll play next

I'm still waiting for DQ3's remake while I played Kai/Kuro 3 in Japanese IMHO that 3rd game is BORING as hell but at least its Dub won't likely be out until 2026 anyways and at least Daybreak 2 and the Sky FC remake ARE still worth playing both those 2 won't be out this year as English games.
Metaphor refantazio looked awesome. Then I played Persona 5. I was bored for 30 hours and now I've given up. Combat is alright and all but main character is sort of a blank slate and I haven't started caring about any of the other characters. Main story? Where!? I'm in the mob boss's palace and no real main narrative in sight.
I'm not too impressed by the Romancing SaGa 2 reimagining. The excessive fan service is very un-SaGa to me as a longtime fan. I'm happy the series is getting more recognition, but compare the female designs in Scarlet Grace and Emerald Beyond to those of Revenge of the Seven. It's night and day. I'll still buy the game, but I just roll my eyes.

interested in romancing saga 2, but i have never played any game in this series, is it ok to play it without playing other romancing saga games?

Was waiting on dragon age… now it’s a big pass. That Arcadia like game has me pumped. Hopefully it’s solid.
I'm still waiting for DQ3's remake while I played Kai/Kuro 3 in Japanese IMHO that 3rd game is BORING as hell but at least its Dub won't likely be out until 2026 anyways and at least Daybreak 2 and the Sky FC remake ARE still worth playing both those 2 won't be out this year as English games.

Then I played Persona 5. I was bored for 30 hours and now I've given up. Combat is alright and all but main character is sort of a blank slate and I haven't started caring about any of the other characters.
Main story? Where!? I'm in the mob boss's palace and no real main narrative in sight.
I'm not too impressed by the Romancing SaGa 2 reimagining. The excessive fan service is very un-SaGa to me as a longtime fan. I'm happy the series is getting more recognition, but compare the female designs in Scarlet Grace and Emerald Beyond to those of Revenge of the Seven. It's night and day. I'll still buy the game, but I just roll my eyes.

.....Okay you know how to get my attention with Romancing Saga 2. I wonder how the gameplay is, I only ever played one on the ps2 and I was horrible at it but for those ladies I'd be willing to learn.
