slightly unfortunate that the passengers got standard amfleets with no amtrak dome, but i guess that's better than nothing. i'd love to see it lead a surfliner in service for kicks.
@saabnut98 Besides, these behemoths are a part of our history. We should admire that our ancestors were able to construct these iron horses without all the technological wonders we have to aid us now.
The P42 was in reverse mode so the 3751 could uncouple with it and the P42 can tow it to the Miramar Wye so it can be turned around to head back to San Diego. The 3751 will then couple up to the car that was at the rear and then head back to L.A. In 2010 the 3751 went back to visit and F59PHI 456 (My favorite surfliner locomotive) coupled and pulled the WHOLE train with 3751 and turned it around and headed to san diego. The train stayed all night and left the next day. I never saw 3751 before and would love to see it in person!
Aw yeah. Love seeing that black smoke billow out of the stack.
@Guser223 The P42 provides power to the passenger cars, and is there as protection power in case 3751 encountered a problem.
@nxtvctm Well put
Awesome!

@pianomanmaestro Yes it does. People are still filming her, running.
@saabnut98 What comes out of that locomotive is about 90% water vapor. What comes out of a car is pure carbon.

Does this steam loco still run??
pianomanmaestro Yes! As of now, she is undergoing her rebuild.
awesome.
@saabnut98 More enviormental than any car.
@nxtvctm couldn't agree more
You couldn't be more right.
So, is there a reason why this train needs the Amtrak P42DC?

@ConrailJon ok
I think the diesels and the electrics lack the aura and soul of these steam locos
I agree. Crazy Boxheads. OHHH I ROASTED THE DIESELS!
