It’s just a “fear toxin” thing. I figured that out when they started turning into regular personnel (we see this at the end of MW3 zombies). The zombies are in a separate timeline. In this timeline Weaver and Sims were never arrested.
@ Always have been. The antagonist’s macguffin of the actual story always becomes the source. But in newer BO there’s a whole different thing going on; instead of Perseus or whoever it’s just East and West paranormal divisions fighting over scientific resources and also Samantha Maxis exists. Then they connected it with the with MW3 reboot zombies in the 2020’s. Because of their dubious actions, Sam “dies” and the “Requiem” team gets arrested and we see in MW3 they die in a basement somewhere. In the regular timeline, absolutely none of that happens, any characters not also in the warzone story don’t exist and Weaver is just doing regular Hollywood CIA stuff for the rest of his life.
I hate to break this too you but zombies is very much cannon the reason being there are files on the wall in the bo6 campaign in the cia black site directly linking terminus island to campaign not only that but Raul Menendez has canonically fought zombies already further more the whole reason zombies is so no existent and doesn’t affect the real world is due to Aetherium phase speeding up time in the phase which is more accelerated in the dark aether that’s why 40 years can path on earth and 400 can pass in the dark aether Only the new stuff is canon though in the same timeline because the old zombies story is the reason we have the reboot cods

And at the end of the game when case and harrow were trapped in the helicopter underwater and exposed to the cradle, a voice was telling case to “destroy” harrow. Her face also became all freaky and scary. And keep in mind that case was subjected to a version of the cradle so he became somewhat tolerant of it so his effects were just watered down which is scary. So, they are kinda like zombies, but I’m not sure how long it lasts. Forever? Or just temporarily? If it’s actually forever then it really is like a zombie virus. Crazy that we now have 3 different forces in the cod universe that makes zombies lol.
it doesn't make zombies, it makes people incredibly angry and makes them see hallucinations, therefore why case sees the zombies. the zombies are really just mannequins that were there in the facility, but case imagines them as zombies. practically the entire mission is just case fighting his own inner demons.
People saying that zombies shouldn’t be in the campaign are ridiculous. They obviously have no idea what the black ops zombies storyline is like cuz if they did then they’d know that this is absolutely nothing like that. It’s just a bio weapon that’s more interesting than nova.
