Then, I compare it to the fixed rate monthly price I charge for bookkeeping services (along with the bookkeeping tasks I do for each one). If you have a client who only needs their transactions categorized and their accounts reconciled do you still charge the full amount for bookkeeping, or do you offer a discount?

This was a great video! Something that would be helpful is showing us an example of actually bookkeeping tasks! I finished QuickBooks certification, but it’s hard to put that information into action

This video is very helpful because it shows me how much time an experienced bookkeeper spends working with clients. I'm just getting started and in the process of passing the exam and setting up my business. Can you give examples of businesses to target that are good for starting out?
Service provides are great because they don't have inventory and are usually a bit more simple. Photographers, digital marketers, personal trainers, lawyers, piano teachers, etc. Think about who's already in your network that may be helpful.

Thank you so much for this content!!! I am doing an internship at a high-teck administration scale-up. I am tasked (among many things) to complete a certain software and earning a certificate for the company... However... The learning materials are horrendous and the exam is difficult. It also gives a clear angle on the day to day tasks in the company which they couldn't really do as much because they are very busy serving the clients, although they do give plenty of time to me, a dedicated visual video does way more...

Can you do a video on reconciling? I saw a post on FB that said many bookkeepers & small business owners don’t reconcile appropriately or fully. “They leave items in the register” ... I’m pretty sure I reconcile well, it’s a skill I learned years ago in HS and use in my personal life.
What could bookkeepers or small business owners be missing? If it matches the bank record/ statement? Ty

QBOA is "free" for you, but each client will need to pay for their QB subscription at whichever level they choose (plus, advanced, etc) -Gabe (FinePoints Admin)

What level would you put doing sales tax for a client? In my area it’s monthly for both city and state (that of course depends on the sales of the company).

What do you mean by having to send the health ins/retirement to payroll company? why?
Hi Dina. You will want to do this so that the right amount is taken from the employees pay check. It also helps for tax purposes.

Yes, if the client isn't using QBO for invoicing, you would want to enter the invoice into QBO.

Hmm, that's a good question (that I've been thinking about a lot going both directions). I guess interviews are important, conveying reliability and integrity ... also you can let your clients know that you don't have access to their bank account (if they are the one to link in QBO and send you statements). I'll think about making a video about this in the future!

How long do you work on an hourly basis until you send a monthly proposal for them? I like that idea and was thinking of doing it for 2 months or is 1 month enough?
It depends how much cleanup there is. One month should be fine if the books are in good shape when you're starting!
Quickbooks internal reporting shows bottom of average hourly rate of 76 bucks... the low end... youre heavily undercharging.
