Jerry, this song brings me memories of my brother also. I am 80 this month and my brother was seven years younger than me and our dad got us both into playing music in his band in our early teens. After I bought Chicago 2 in 1970 and my brother and I sat in my mom's living room floor and listened to it for a couple of hours, including hearing 25 or 6 to 4 about a dozen times, this became my favorite record since then. Doesn't anyone else notice the phenomenal drumming, or am I just not on target? I think Terry himself would say it's the band together, not just one guy.
I should thank my dad for getting me in to this amazing genre of music. I don’t know what has happened to music today, but I am thankful this music still exists and will never be forgotten.
I first met them three years ago when I went to see them at Tampa for the heart and soul 2.0 tour back in March then next thing you know I’m friends with the current and former band members on Facebook.
I was a 7 year old Latino kid in South Bay CA. My neighbors were an elderly couple and sometimes I'd mow their lawn. I remember Mr. Jim washing his Malibu and listening to this. That's my earliest memory of my first introduction to rock and roll
My big sister turned me on to Chicago when I was a kid growing up in Indiana in the mid 1970's. I dug the music as an 8 year old, and am still diggin' this at 53 years old. Terry Kath was such a great guitarist! And very underrated to say the least. This music is timeless and will always be relevant! R.I.P. Terry!
Just think, when they were signing their record deal the record label wanted them to get rid of their horn section. Glad they refused. Probably wouldn't have gotten this sound.
@@davidjackson2419 I read once that sometime around 1990, the horns considered leaving _en masse_ and hiring themselves out because they were being used so little in the band at the time. Obviously they patched things up.
My biggest regret was not going to see these guys perform at the City hall, Newcasle upon Tyne in 69 or was it 1970. Amazingly loads of empty seats on the day. Despite that I've been a fan since this album was released.
Chicago II is my favorite album of all time. I fell in love with it more than 50 years ago and I still love it. Steven Wilson did a great job remixing it. I highly recommend it to anybody who loves this album.
1976 - my first day of marching band - in the gym - about 15 trombones slamming out that opening riff - I literally just stared with my mouth open. Seems like yesterday. 47 years ago.
Feb 18th 1970 they played at my High School in Wilmington Delaware. Their second album had just come out a couple weeks earlier. Awesome night and a very cool high school memory
I feel pretty lucky to have got to watch Terry Kath perform when Chicago played the coliseum in Seattle shortly before the accident, one of the best guitar players ever! IMHO
What.an.awesome.song! Not to be cliche, but they really don't make them like this anymore. Such heart, such soul and great musicianship. Chicago had so many good hits and this has to be up towards the top of my list of favorites. Thank you for the upload, thumbs up!
This song makes sets my soul aflame. I saw them and EWF in concert a few years ago...when they both joined together to play...OMG...I was ready to meet my Maker!!! As much as I love EWF, I have to say that Chicago's horns are the absolute BEST eva!!
I LOVE the older Chicago songs w/ the horns...ohhh yeah! I was in a Drum Corp I twirled the rifle. I was color guard. But we had a Fantastic horn assembly and with it being 1975 76 77...We did Alot of Chicago songs 🎵 And when we went to competitions, we'd always get 1st place! Because we did Chicago songs that were on the radio and we had a huge horn.line. I married my first love, he played baritone. My son ended up playing baritone in the Bristol. RI 4th of July parade..America's oddest parade. 🎺🎺📯🎶🎵🎶🎺🥁🥁
I love your story and reminiscing... I'm 55, grew up in the Chicago suburbs in the 70s and also marched in drum corps. I can totally relate. Going to see Chicago and Earth Wind and Fire later tonight in Tampa. Just can't get enough of these tunes, the soundtrack to our childhood!

I heard this on a commercial. I haven't heard this song in years. Had look it up and listen to it again.
I should thank my dad for getting me in to this amazing genre of music. I don’t know what has happened to music today, but I am thankful this music still exists and will never be forgotten.
Thank. God my mom played these albums while cleaning the house on Saturday and Sunday! I loved it!
This song is the reason why I’ve been a fan of Chicago and I’ve been friends with these guys for the last three years.
Where did you meet them?
I first met them three years ago when I went to see them at Tampa for the heart and soul 2.0 tour back in March then next thing you know I’m friends with the current and former band members on Facebook.
The thing that sticks out the most for me is the great guitar work by Mr. Terry Kath.
I was a 7 year old Latino kid in South Bay CA. My neighbors were an elderly couple and sometimes I'd mow their lawn. I remember Mr. Jim washing his Malibu and listening to this. That's my earliest memory of my first introduction to rock and roll
Only 71 and haven’t heard this amazing piece in I don’t know how long.
Mmmmmmmm baby!!!
Terry Kath is a legend. This song showcases his guitar skills brilliantly. May he rest in peace.
VERY UNDERRATED GUITARIST! We lost a good talent here!
Terry was amazing.
Jimmi said he was the best
My big sister turned me on to Chicago when I was a kid growing up in Indiana in the mid 1970's. I dug the music as an 8 year old, and am still diggin' this at 53 years old. Terry Kath was such a great guitarist! And very underrated to say the least. This music is timeless and will always be relevant! R.I.P. Terry!
Absolutely amazing tune with so much atmosphere and texture.
It blows me away to think I was one year old when this song was originally released.
One year later and this tune is still blowing me away.
I literally can’t decide which is better the vocals or the guitar playing.
Both
Just think, when they were signing their record deal the record label wanted them to get rid of their horn section. Glad they refused. Probably wouldn't have gotten this sound.
They never even considered getting rid of the brass section; and if they did I'm agree glad they didn't it made them who they are..
Didn't know that! That's the company for ya! I'm glad the "workers" refused too!
What - no horns, who were they kidding? They would have never been the same band!
Despite that I've been a fan since this album was released.
..Oh. Forget it, man; enjoy the song.
I can listen to this any time & still just as great as the first time
Chicago II is my favorite album of all time. I fell in love with it more than 50 years ago and I still love it. Steven Wilson did a great job remixing it. I highly recommend it to anybody who loves this album.
I love the way he’s making those strings sing
Terry Kath was a gifted guitar player. Jimi Hendrix once said, " That Cat can Play"
Terry Kath was a fon on those strings .. dude didn't have to take a backseat to nobody!
He's still got it
The fact that this was recorded on an 8-track astounds me to this day.
I can only imagine how fun this song is to play
1976 - my first day of marching band - in the gym - about 15 trombones slamming out that opening riff - I literally just stared with my mouth open. Seems like yesterday. 47 years ago.
Kids this is what is called Music....and Talent
Feb 18th 1970 they played at my High School in Wilmington Delaware. Their second album had just come out a couple weeks earlier. Awesome night and a very cool high school memory

@@MALTESEFALCON1 context or relevance?
Omg I've had this stuck in my head for days and found it
I feel pretty lucky to have got to watch Terry Kath perform when Chicago played the coliseum in Seattle shortly before the accident, one of the best guitar players ever! IMHO
Jimi Hendrix said Terry Kath was a way better guitarist than he was. Amazing compliment. This song is the best!
What.an.awesome.song! Not to be cliche, but they really don't make them like this anymore. Such heart, such soul and great musicianship. Chicago had so many good hits and this has to be up towards the top of my list of favorites. Thank you for the upload, thumbs up!
Love it! My favorite hard rock group!
Bro I just watched an ad containing this song while waiting to listen to it 😂
This song makes sets my soul aflame.
what a story
I love your story and reminiscing... I'm 55, grew up in the Chicago suburbs in the 70s and also marched in drum corps. I can totally relate. Going to see Chicago and Earth Wind and Fire later tonight in Tampa. Just can't get enough of these tunes, the soundtrack to our childhood!
Love Chicago and had all their LP's. They are one of the greatest groups .
The greatest band ever. Growing old with them. Miss orginal line up. Saw Terry and the boys at Alpine Valley twice.
I was in Lake Geneva the night SRV died in the helicopter crash.😢
It's midnight, and I'm looking forward to a new and GLORIOUS DAY that we are on the brink of. Great song for the year 2020!
Damn this music is awesome. There's nothing compared to this in 2019. Those were the hippy trippy days.
Robert Herrera They were the best days! If I had a time machine I'd go back to 1974-1979.
It's out there, but you have to dig for it. The mainstream no longer rewards excellence. Excellence requires too much overhead. Gotta make the $$$! 🤢
@@szqsk8 Me too!
Still and always
@@szqsk8 My teen years were some of 1968, all of 1969-1973, and most of 1974.
It's kinda a shame later in the 80's I think they mostly stuck to love ballads, when they had amazing stuff like this!
I like both!
That was vintage Chicago Everybody was on point
Growing old does not SUCK at all. Luv these guys.
What a amazing ensambling of good musicians. Thats how a hit is made!!!
Never gets old, just better every time !!!
I've been trying to remember what this song was all day so glad I found it again.
