But Stipe wasn't. He took the fight, trained for it, walked the walk-out, and fought the most heavily hyped MMA knockout monster and won.

I really think the UFC with their Vegas flash and bravado, made a REALLY stupid mistake not understanding the opportunity to promote him. They seem not to understand how to promote someone who isn't a loud, bad boy type. He would have been a tremendous ambassador for the UFC brand but they instead chose to ignore him. No surprise most of their hyped champions flame out, or end up in jail, they don't know a good thing when they see it.
Stipe Miocic is The Greatest of all times UFC MMA Heavy Wheight Champions and a honored comunity member as a Fireman. His first defeat against Cormier was debt DC's shamefull "eye-pokes" he delivered vicious and dirtfully with none referee punishing. It was shamefull for DC capitalizing with this kihd of creatina and post fight posing as a good guy. Stipe Miocici, at the second fight, showed him how to win honest and truthfully. His legacy is admirable!
His skill-set made him championship quality for Heavyweight, but he wasn't a complete fighter lets be honest. He was well-rounded in that he had elite striking and wrestling, but there were key elements missing to his game in both areas. Most notably on the feet; kicking, even the shorter and fatter DC was a better kicker than Stipe was, his clinch game was pretty average as well. On the ground, it was submissions as Stipe doesn't have a single submission win in his pro career. If Stipe was versed in submissions, he could have gotten Francis out of there and potentially saved himself taking unnecessary damage even from a gassed Francis (who is still dangerous), which contributed to the KO loss to DC in his next fight. And yes age did eventually catch up to him.

Stipe is the man, he could have easily cut down to 205 and fought men smaller than himself like some people but he's not a coward. Reigned over the most dangerous division with 50+ pounds of variation (most divisions only deal with 20lbs or less) he has nothing left to prove after breaking the most title defenses at HW.
It’s an interesting balance for heavyweights, because at that size you’re giving up speed with those additional pounds. When both guys have fight ending power already, the speed can become the deciding factor. That’s what he was going for vs DC especially. The disadvantage showed the most in his second ngannou fight when he couldn’t get the wresting going

The list goes on but for me Miočić sits atop the very peak. Not Cro Cop levels of insanity but not far behind. Great dude, great champion and stand out linguist. Kidding aside, great video as always!

Stipe in his prime is the only man to completely dominate Ngannou. That was so impressive. Ngannou effortlessly flatlined everyone, until Stipe. Stipe unfortunately is older now and didn’t look nearly as good as in the second fight with Ngannou bough, he’s older now and I think he’s kind of starting to check out. I hope we can see him in his prime again though.

That match v Francis was awsome. I remember just being on the edge of my seat. It was like a man v a grizzly bear and Stipe tamed him. Francis has a friggin chin, guy took some big shots that likely would take out the average HW.

That match v Francis was awsome. I remember just being on the edge of my seat. It was like a man v a grizzly bear and Stipe tamed him. Francis has a friggin chin, guy took some big shots that likely would take out the average HW.
