I love it. My grandpa just gave me a 1970 F100 but it's completely frankensteined, converted into 4x4, and turned in a crawler. I usually build Toyota trucks so I was curious what one of these would look like if it wasn't a crawler. Looks great, love it!
I seen you was doin 5000 rpm with about 30 oil psi..... start runnin thick oil, rebuild time is commin up! Lol..... rule of thumb is 10 oil psi for every 1000 rpm
I had a 67 f250 when I was in high school and it wouldn’t ever pump more than maybe 15 psi no matter the rpm... well I did a big ol brake stand and needless to say stripped the cam and send it through the motor lol 😂
I remember seeing your vids of the f100 when you were still in high school. You've both come such a long way truck looks absolutely beautiful keep up the hard work and progress
well, the "old school way" is to use a baseball bat (skinny end) wedge it in there and drive forward... you could flip the shackle hangers, but that'll take a little fab work so they clear the bottom of the bed. i did that on my F100 as well as raising the front spring hangers.
Measure the circumference of all 4 tires with the same air pressure in all 4. On a Nascar race car the right side tires are a larger diameter than the left. This is called stagger. It helps the car to turn left. You might have to switch the tires around so that the front and rear axles have matching tire diameters. That could be why the truck is pulling to one side. The truck looks mean with those tires. I once drew up a picture of a 71 f-100 with Wide 5 wheels with slicks. On paper it looked mean!
The slicks aren't something I'd choose to run personally, but I gotta admit it looks really cool. And that Marti report is super cool. I ordered my own for my two trucks but to have your friends gift it to you was awesome. Look forward to the more detailed video on what's in it.
Don’t worry about the oil pressure too much. You only need 5 psi for every 500 rpms. That thing sounds healthy enough and should last quite some time. Truck looks sick!
I think those tires are super flat and make the mounting points verticals instead of riding on a curve or cushion of a tire they are planted flat. Really bad ass man! 👍
Those wheels and tires are so big I'm not sure it can even be done. After you got the tires seated on the wheels and aired up shouldn't you have taken them back to the tire shop and see if they can be balanced.
Looks good. Surprised you were able to get the tires to fit. Might want to have your alignment check as to why its pulling to the left. Anytime a change to a wider rim/tire combo with a different offset will magnify any misalignment you may have had but didn't notice with the narrower wheels and tires.
The 70 Ford F-100 has a plastic egg crate grill. Would of loved to have put a 429 in mine. The color was light green over white. But it was the low horse power 302. Later had a 81 F-100 it had a big 300 6- cylinder 3 speed with over drive. On the floor in Black. No power there either. Put a rebuilt Jasper motor in it. The body went to Hell! Before the motor did. Wish I still had that one back. Shawn.
engine size doesn’t matter when it comes to oil pressure. how tight your tolerances are and what weight oil you run determines it. 10 psi per 1,000 rpm is a good rule of thumb. I personally don’t like less than 20 pounds at hot idle.
Sick bad ass looking. A cheap little trick to make the tires pop. Go to Lowe’s or Home Depot to the paint desk. Ask them for a sample of white paint or if they won’t give you a sample. Buy a cheap quart of white paint. Paint over Goodyear and Eagle on the tires. Make em pop. Your fuel pump is making that noise because it is about to go out. If you run your tank to flat empty all the time. Puts way more stress on your fuel pump. When did you last do an oil change on your motor? Go thicker to try and get some compression back.
in the early 80s, motor trend did a piece on underground cars. they described a nascar powered ford pickup, a killer scirocco, and a cadillac seville on a nascar frame (it can be seen in randy newman's I LOVE LA video)
Man seeing you work on & enjoy your 70 f100 makes me want to work on my 77 f100 so bad. Can't wait to get my 351c built up & dropped in & get that thing on the road
I'd be pushing the fenders out a lot more all around. You should account for tire deflection around turns at speed. I went though a bunch of measurements and testing with my 88 fox running 255/40R17 on all 4 corners.
Try some "Engine Restore." I used it on an old tractor engine and it helped it a lot. You also probably need to run some heavier oil (maybe some 20/50 wt.), just be sure not to rev the engine much with the heavier oil in it until it has warmed up good. Otherwise, you might twist the oil pump shaft off and/or wipe some bearings.
I had a 1968 ford ranger XLT , It had a 71 grill in it. Seeing your truck brings back a lot of memories. You need a set of Half Moon Headlight covers for it. :-)
I've also got a '71 F100 (FE 360) and idling in traffic on a hot day, that oil pressure needle is *ON* the 'L'. Coincidentally, that's also about where it sits when the engine isn't running at all. At least you *have* oil pressure. Apparently, old Fords are notorious for low pressure. I'm running thicker oil now, but will also deal with the issue during the rebuild. I don't know anyone who's particularly comfortable with PSI being THAT low.
Your rear fitment issue is most likely from your panhard bar being off. If you lift the rear end and adjust in and then let it back down. It should help center them wheels.
Your Frame is Dimond shaped needs to be pulled on a frame machine I had thus problem with my 72 your truck looks bad ass would love to get mine to this look one day awesome work..
The nascar tires are fun to drive on, the downside of having nascar tires on your truck is that if you leave your truck sitting for about a week they will go flat. But other then that they are fun to have, I had a set of them on my 66 c10 but they had the big yellow lettering in them
I'm I the only one that thinks it's a bad idea to run track slicks on the street? Craig, you should at least run a treaded drag radial for safety's sake. It looks great with the tires and wheels though.
To make your truck look totally right , I'd raise the rear end 1"to 1-1/4 just my 2 cents. the tire clearance should almost be the same front and back & wont have to worry about the rear rubbing
Unbolt the bed replace the rubbers between the bed and frame then line up the bed and tighten all the bolts hand tight check alignment then just go around tightening and few turns on each bolt at a time and you’ll get perfect bed alignment
Looks cool, however I feel the truck needs to be leveled out, and I agree with Nigel Saunders, needs a spoiler. Id really hook this truck up with a sweet suspension too.
Nice tires for the f100 but I would put skinnies because the fronts are harder to turn. I have had the same problem with my 73 explorer custom so I put skinnies on front a fatties on the rear. It looks like a dragster but so cool looking would be nice to find real drag slicks.

why no rear bumper i thought u had to have lights for license plate also if you can get the rear wheels to show gap like the fronts it would look better cuz right now the bed looks like it sitting on the wheels
my dad had a white 72 bumpside Ford F100 when i was in high school. I want to find another but i have a 51 Ford F1, 65 Stepside F100 and a 91 F150 i am playing with. So i guess i need to focus on on of these lol
My dad and I were going to rebuild a 52 ford f1 and put the same style of rims on it and some Goodrich tires on but sadly it burned in a Forest fire 2 years ago so rip
Maybe I'm just too old school and don't get the whole Cali-squat thing, but the truck would look so much better with just a bit of rake to get the rear tires down, out of the fenderwell tuck and complete the race truck look. Just my opinion. Either way, the combination looks great.
Bro I love this truck. I grew up on trucks like this and a friend had one that was sick in 91. Can you show more under hood shots . Thanks for the vids !
The old school trick to rolling the lips of your wheel well is to use a baseball bat (the fat end). Also you can push the bed side out with a porta-power or a bottle jack, just put a block of wood against the sheet metal though. Keep having fun
I would've mini-tubbed the rear first and put a slightly narrower tire on the fronts. I would also switch over to power disc brakes. Nice project truck, keep it up.
First time viewer here, and I’m no ford expert but, you may be able to adjust your track bar to make your front tires more even. Hope that makes sense.

What engineering dose the truck have? 358.
You did a nascar conversion, and you dont know why it pulls left? Hahaha. Sweet truck bro 👌
I've always preferred wider,fatter wheels & tires compared to those tall 18's & 20's.
Me too. it looks more intentional or purposeful. The tall wheels just say look at me!! I have a functioning bank account I NEED ATTENTION!!!!
Hell yeah just like my women ...
my dad tought me this way. 15x10 all day
I like both 15" wide and 20s 22s 24s 26s 28s 30s 👍

@@micahvelli_236 Absolutely!

That truck is sick....those pipes really blow...
20:49 - it could be pulling to one side due to:
-bad alignment
-uneven brake pressure distribution (I.e., 20% left, 40% right.)

Rebuilding my 302 now. You are right about the oil pressure, it started dropping and it was only a few days later I had to put her in the shop.
I would raise the rear end a little bit and put spacers on in the rear wheels so they all look even
Nah then it would look goofy
I thing just spacers would be perfect to make the truck even around all sides but the height of the truck is perfect
@@nathanielbass6108 I was thinking raise the back a little more so it won't rub with the spacers
