Thomas Pereira is known for writing hard hitting lyrics that carried a deep message. Unlike today where information is easily available to the general public, in those days many artists used the stage for creating social awareness. Thomas Pereira too very craftily managed to utilize the platform to reach out to the East Indian community. Many of his songs touched upon the subject of Alcoholism, Abortion (Female infanticide) Uncaring/Ungrateful Children and Religious Beliefs and many other important issues of his times. Astonishingly even after 70 years his songs are still relevant.

Thank you aunty Eleanor for keeping the memories live of my favourite and beloved singer. No doubt Uncle Thomas was a very good singer but there is none to match his composition. Rightly said all time no 1 song will always be Balotain khoon.
