I cried listening to this song as a dark skinned in this society I've been through a lot of racism & bullying but I'm still standing one time I was bullied so bad I almost committed suicide by slicing my wrist up I thought that would make all the pain and bullying go away luckily I did commit suicide I love being dark-skinned. I love that it marks me as a proud daughter of Nigeria; that it identifies me as a member of the Nigerian generation. I love celebrating my blackness and what it stands for.

I was a 13 yr old white kid back in 91-I was obsessed with hip hop. I would buy or dub any tape I could get my hands on. This type of consciousness abd creativity will never be duplicated. Freddie Foxxes verse always grips me hard-especially the line about “guns n hoses”. And Latifahs verse was very underrated. So many legends on this song
