A year later I followed all the instructions. Looks like all the upgrades worked, and the terminal settings loaded with no problem without your epilogue terminal addendum. So that's no longer an issue. Thanks for the clear and simple video!
Thanks a lot! This upgrade method worked for my PC (CPU: 4th generation i7, Chipset: Asus Z87-K w/o TPM chip). It's really very easy. You even don't need to reinstall Terminal for its "Settings" to work again. Just associate *.json-Files with the Windows Editor or another plain text editor of your choice. (Create a file "test.json", double-click it, choose the Editor/notepad.exe, Check "Use always"). Updates are still working.
I use Rufus to bypass Windows 11 TMP and unsupported checks and do a clean install of Windows 11 on unsupported hardware. It works perfectly and there is no need to patch or fix issues after. I even installed it on a 10 inch netbook single core atom processor from back in the day and it worked, granted slow. But worked. And that netbook does not meet any system requirements for Windows 11 at all... so I do recommend Rufus. Thank you for showing another great alternative if you wanna upgrade and not just clean install.
I had watched your previous video on installing Win11 on old computers and was getting ready to follow the instructions, but ran across this video and decided I'd try it. I am amazed at the simplicity of this work around! I am getting a 9 year old Toshiba Satellite C75 ready for a friend of mine and it was so close to being Microsoft compliant, but not quite there. I went forward with the installation and other than taking several hours to load, it was perfect. I didn't even need the addendum at the end for Terminal. It was already there and working. Next step is an SSD and RAM upgrade (I've done three of these Toshiba's already). These upgrades take an old dog and make it a greyhound! Boot time is reduced from three minutes + to less than 30 seconds.
Amen, I been using both old 11 and 12 year old desktop, only thing to watch for, is making sure CPU can support 64 bit and not the 2 I got aggravated at and beat with hammer ROFL only after did I discover it was only 32 bit 😂
I just used this method to upgrade my W10 to W11 23H2 and it went flawlessly. The only unsupported hardware is my i5-7260U CPU, but even the TPM 2.0 is working just fine. Thanks Mr.!

Very down to earth. I upgraded to Windows 11 cause I had an extra SSD and space in my PC so I figured I would try it out. I used the latest version of RUFUS which has a special Windows 11 bypass setting! So I did it the same way you did except loaded the ISO into RUFUS, chose the Win 11 bypass option, and it was a success. This was a CLEAN INSTALL. My PC is an HP EliteDesk 800 with i7 6700 3.40 Ghz and 16 GB RAM. Did the usual de bloating and customizing. Prob a good idea firsthand, to go into BIOS and turn off "Safeboot" "Secure boot" (!) before doing install.
i used neither of these methods, just a merge of TPM reg files of 3 entries during first install by entering into cmd line (shift+f10) and opening up notepad. w11 works great on my elite 8000 dual core 6GB GT710

Yay I see you used the script I recommend in the comments of your last Windows 11 installation video. Cool isn’t it! 😉 As a side note. You can also use the script to not only download the Windows 11 iso from Microsoft’s own servers but also have it automatically patch it to bypass the Windows 11 checks. This way you can either do an upgrade (by mounting and running from within Windows 10) or a full new install (burn to USB using Rufus and boot from the USB key).
Sorry, I didn't realize you suggested it. I found this method back when TH-cam removed my other video of the more complicated way to do it. It's just taken me this long to get a video out on it.
You can maybe bypass Windows 11 requirements with these ways, but no matter how you do it, the OS won't be officially supported and it may make your hardware run bad.
@@fexploder3281 Did on mine. Had to re-flash UEFI (or BIOS) to the latest, even after restoring my Windows 10 backup with Macrium Reflect. Please, before attempting to upgrade or clean install, perform a full image of the drive which Windows 10 is installed on before doing anything. And have the latest version of your BIOS downloaded in case it's not running right after install of Win 11 or reverting to Win 10. Luckily, I already had the latest BIOS version on hand. Some has stated their PCIe lanes were messed up, as well as BIOS chip itself. For some MB's, these are hard to find, so please only do this on a computer you'll not shed tears over, not your main one or your child's.😀
By far the easiest tuto I've ever seen & done, I've banged Win11 on a 15 yr old Tosh Satellite just for fun. Have ever made a tuto for installing Linux with Win11, but of course on a more recent PC? Thanks again Cyber. Rgds from France, David.
Completed an upgrade to 11, from 10, on an Intel Xeon E5-1620 v2 3.70GHz Quad-core w/ 32GB ddr3 and RTX2070 OC Works great. Updates installing, how they should.

I can report, I have been using it as a daily device (laptop replacement/desktop) replacement for the past week and everything runs perfectly, including updates are downloaded and installed. Quite surprised. It worked. The only thing I'd add is when you run cmd file, make SURE you right click it and select "run as administrator" or it won't actually work (even though it appears to) and Windows 11 will again insist your system is not compatible.
Nice to see you have what appears to be one of the older X-QPack computer cases. I finally got my hands on an X-QPack II for one of my builds, though it doesn't have the windows on the side.
Thank you, this worked for me on an older Dell Optiplex! I didn't even have to update the Windows terminal, I was able to pull up the terminal settings immediately after installing the ISO. The update took a while even with the ISO mounted to my desktop which is running on a Samsung SSD, but I'm glad everything went smoothly and I was able to keep my Pro edition of Windows!

I am not a fan of windows, my main PC runs Linux. But.. I do have a win PC. I've followed your video and installed 11. I have to agree with lots of comments, WHY ?, if you do not like windows, then why watch these video's ?. I still use my windows PC for some applications. you said don’t need a flash drive for me I had to make a bootable USB flash drive, then go onto my Files explorer and install it straight from the flash drive, and it worked for me, but I still had to do the script first that you had us install to the computer it was a weird trick. I had to do to get it to work. for me the when I would do it with no bootable USB flash drive it would completely fail every time it was weird but I’m very happy and I’m very surprised this actually still work and I’m very happy commenting this a few days later I’ve been happily using windows 11 on my 11 year old computer Thanks for the help.
I found that at a thrift store. The day I bought it I drove home wearing it. Got a lot of strange looks from people. 🤣😂 FYI, I don't recommend driving in a Storm Trooper helmet. It heavily obscured your vision. 🤷♂️
one tip, you dont have to download windows media creation tool, on the same page just load the mobile version and hit refresh and now you have the option to download the iso itself without any program. i dont know if it is requirement to rename the iso "Windows.iso" or not but you can do that just to be safe.

The media creation tool generates for you the Win11 ISO with the latest cumulative update integrated whereas the direct ISO option gives you the images Microsoft send to OEMs and prints on OEM discs & retail physical USBs. So using the retail ISO gives you an older “frozen” version of the OS that need to be updated post install. The Direct ISO is also more than a gigabyte larger in size because it contains ALL editions of Win11, including Education and Enterprise editions. The Media creations tool includes Home and Pro, plus in-place upgrade option for enterprise edition (i.e., no clean installs). May Allah (S.W.T.) guide you and bestow upon you His Blessings; Ameen.

So tripple 👍and 🖖By the way: I've even managed to install Win 11 on VirtualBox by first installing Win 7, then upgraded that to Win 10 and finally ended up with Win 11. The only issue I had was the lost key of the Win 7 OEM version but I eventually found a semi legal "work around" to activate 10 & 11. I forgot to mention that this virtual machine runs on a Win 10 PC that isn't Win 11 capable. So thanks a lot for taking us on that Rodeo where we learn how to tame those wild horses of the Gill Bates Ranch.
I run a few PCs at work and at home. My main work machine is a Compulab Airtop2 that I've have over $3,500 in. It has a 7th generation i7-7700K as that's the fastest CPU they could comfortably air-cool at the time of manufacture. It's only 5 years old and I'm pissed that MS will not support it. It has six SSDs in it plus 64GB RAM and a LOT of licensed software I need. It would have no issues with Windows 11. I have a low power (by comparison) mini PC at home running Windows 11 and it's actually quite snappy. I've got the UI customized to the point most people think it's Windows 7 but that's how I like so that's how it 's setup. I'm more than willing to try this if I have no other choice once Windows 10 is no longer supported. I do have another PC (Airtop3 i9-9900K) I can fall back on that meets the requirements, but I shouldn't have to retire the one I'm currently using. My other option is to send it all the way back to Compulab in Israel. I feel comfortable swapping out a CPU in anything except this air-cooled PC. Even the motherboard is something that no off the shelf MB can replace. Apparently Compulab doesn't want anyone in that section of the PC. If all the software I must have to do my job would run (correctly) on Linux, I'd swear off Windows today. I'll have a freshly cloned copy of the current boot drive handy if I have to go down this road. If it goes South, I can be back to where I started in a very few minutes. I'm hoping MS will come to their senses as retiring millions of decent and capable PCs is not a good option.
I can't wait to try this experiment. Like you said, I don't want to try this on my Daily Desktop. However, I do have 3 other computers with the same type motherboard but different CPU's in them. If works on those, then it should work on my Daily Desktop. I hate the thought of having buy a new computer and transfer programs to a new computer, when these older computers I have work really well on Windows 10.
Alright, this experiment worked for me and I had some interesting results. The computer model I experimented with was an HP S5-1414 with an I3-2130 and 4g of ram. (Note: the i3 is not showing compatible and I don't have TPM 2.0) So my feeling is, this should work on all S5 series. Window Terminal does not display for me, as stated in the video and Powershell is in its place. I ran Window Terminal from the search bar and the "settings" feature worked find from there. Also, Windows Update appears to be working as it is downloading 5 updates now.
In 2025 when Windows 10 reaches end of life and a significant number of PC's still don't meet the requirements for installing Windows 11, what is Microsoft (realistically) expecting those effected users to do?

I used the same method to update one of my machines that is at least 7 years old. So far so good it still updates Windows11 at least the security portion.
@@sthan20 I just encountered an error 0x8024a206 in some of the update items. It was not a big issue to me. I just let the rest of the updates done. Restarted my laptop and retried the Windows update again. My Windows 11 update is up to date now.
Thanks, I followed the video to a tee. and everything went well, I didn't have to do anything to the terminal, I suppose he fixed the actual PS code, really don't know. Or maybe an update will cause a break, but so far everything is running fine on an old HPZ200 dual core 10gb ram, 500 gb hd.. On my security it says no issues.. GREAT, Thanks again......

The processor didn't support and TMP was missing Microsoft's requirements on the old machine I built in 2016. The instruction in the video worked and was very easy to install on the so-called potato! :). I got a little scared when Windows started installing under the name "Windows Server". That's what I read in the readme of the bypass11 page, and I wasn't worried. All Windows Updates were installed without problems and at least the games also worked well. Overall a great guide! Thank you!
Given all the bugs, and frustration I've encountered on 11, I wouldn't even bother. Just keep using 10, until EOL, and go on to a Linux distro. Wish I'd NEVER done an 11 comp. Geez. Thanks for the video, though.
Worked like a charm on an 8 year old HP desktop that does not have a TPM and the processor is certainly not on the list. I will be using it as a learning tool so not too concerned about updates. I would rather experiment on this old beast, though it runs really well, rather than my main laptop. Interesting though that my Google confirmation still sees it as a Win 10 machine.
What's hilarious to me - I put Linux on this laptop. Out of sheer curiosity, I wanted to see what the process of getting Windows 11 back on it under Microsoft's requirements would be like. The result? Windows 11 - the OS this thing shipped with - is ridiculously difficult to reinstall without contacting the manufacturer and getting their custom image burned to a USB. But it would be trivial to run it on here while bypassing the system requirements. I think that says everything that needs to be said about exactly how much more secure these "required" features make Windows 11. TPMs and Secure Boot are fantastic ideas on paper, but the implementation leaves a lot to be desired. (And greatly restricts the freedom of end users who'd want to use them.) If anyone's concerned about their build being non-secure without these hardware measures in place - take some time to harden your installation regardless of whatever OS you're using and exercise common sense when browsing the web. This stuff doesn't protect you from that much anyway; it's nice to have, but there's so many attack vectors that don't involve hitting the stuff Secure Boot and TPMs secure that you'd need to remain vigilant anyway.
I installed Windows 11 on an unsupported PC just to become familiar with it using a local account. I still have Windows 10 on my supported PC (with a local account) that I use all the time. If Microsoft stops updates to non-supported PCs I will just install Linux on the unsupported PC I have or get a newer PC.
Windows 11 isn’t ‘complete’ enough for my daily driver just yet but as I have to support it in my job I’ve simply setup a virtual machine that I can load in to at any time while still logged in to my Windows 10 OS to test stuff out.

Great video, very interesting. I have been looking into Windows 11 trying to sort out if it is worth trying. Most of the security features in Win 11 will not be supported on unsupported hardware such as mine. It looks like these security changes are mainly aimed at securing machines for a business environment. I have to answer this question, what makes it worth upgrading for a home user? What am I getting that I don't already have in Windows 10?
This is great. I have everything I need to upgrade My 7700k to this OS but they will not accept the processor. Ridiculous as it may seem because I have everything that passes the PC Health Check. Window 10 is fast. I have SSD's for storage. I even have TPM2 on the Asus Tuf Z270 Mark 1 motherboard. 32gb of DDR4 Memory at 3000mhz and Windows 10 updated to the latest version as of today.
The only reasonable conclusion I can come to is that Microsoft is trying to help boost new PC sales. I've heard all the arguments for security and examples like yours prove that's not a valid argument.
@@CyberCPU I agree completely. I have a I7 5930k on a Gigabyte X99 Gaming 5 motherboard where the Bios has not been updated by Gigabyte to run Windows 11. But Asustek has updated the bios on the Tuf Z270 Mark 1 with the I7 7700k cpu and I have everything ready to go except Microsoft's saying that the processor is not being supported. Baloney! Love your videos BTW!

Yes, the Rufus method works great if you're doing a fresh install. This is for if you want to do an upgrade.

I had to get a 2nd copy but only through the cloud MS.

You can do that with Rufus and installs on any old PC.
I'm personally never going to install 11 and I'll stand by that.
Rufus doesn't work on many systems for upgrading.

Having done this install recently directly with Windows 11 22H2 and the terminal worked right out of the box.
Quite surprised. It worked. The only thing I'd add is when you run cmd file, make SURE you right click it and select "run as administrator" or it won't actually work (even though it appears to) and Windows 11 will again insist your system is not compatible.

Thank you, this worked for me on an older Dell Optiplex! I didn't even have to update the Windows terminal, I was able to pull up the terminal settings immediately after installing the ISO. The update took a while even with the ISO mounted to my desktop which is running on a Samsung SSD, but I'm glad everything went smoothly and I was able to keep my Pro edition of Windows!

I am not a fan of windows, my main PC runs Linux. But.. I do have a win PC. I've followed your video and installed 11. I have to agree with lots of comments, WHY ?, if you do not like windows, then why watch these video's ?. I still use my windows PC for some applications. I use both systems, why ? because they work for me. Great video, thank you and keep up the great content.

you said don’t need a flash drive for me I had to make a bootable USB flash drive, then go onto my Files explorer and install it straight from the flash drive, and it worked for me, but I still had to do the script first that you had us install to the computer it was a weird trick. I had to do to get it to work. for me the when I would do it with no bootable USB flash drive it would completely fail every time it was weird but I’m very happy and I’m very surprised this actually still work and I’m very happy commenting this a few days later I’ve been happily using windows 11 on my 11 year old computer Thanks for the help.

one tip, you dont have to download windows media creation tool, on the same page just load the mobile version and hit refresh and now you have the option to download the iso itself without any program. i dont know if it is requirement to rename the iso "Windows.iso" or not but you can do that just to be safe.
The iso option is now also available on PCs.
I believe the media creation tool downloads a more current ISO. However, you do make a good point.
@NazmusLabs you are correct, you can download the iso itself in desktop mode for win 11 but not for win10
@@IoannisKotsaridis Yup, back on Win10 days, I would use the Edge/Chrome dev console to emulate and iPhone and get the ISO download option.

The media creation tool generates for you the Win11 ISO with the latest cumulative update integrated whereas the direct ISO option gives you the images Microsoft send to OEMs and prints on OEM discs & retail physical USBs. So using the retail ISO gives you an older “frozen” version of the OS that need to be updated post install. The Direct ISO is also more than a gigabyte larger in size because it contains ALL editions of Win11, including Education and Enterprise editions. The Media creations tool includes Home and Pro, plus in-place upgrade option for enterprise edition (i.e., no clean installs).

So tripple 👍and 🖖By the way: I've even managed to install Win 11 on VirtualBox by first installing Win 7, then upgraded that to Win 10 and finally ended up with Win 11. The only issue I had was the lost key of the Win 7 OEM version but I eventually found a semi legal "work around" to activate 10 & 11. I forgot to mention that this virtual machine runs on a Win 10 PC that isn't Win 11 capable.

I run a few PCs at work and at home. My main work machine is a Compulab Airtop2 that I've have over $3,500 in.
It has a 7th generation i7-7700K as that's the fastest CPU they could comfortably air-cool at the time of manufacture.
It's only 5 years old and I'm pissed that MS will not support it. It has six SSDs in it plus 64GB RAM and a LOT of licensed software I need.
It would have no issues with Windows 11. I have a low power (by comparison) mini PC at home running Windows 11 and it's actually quite snappy. I've got the UI customized to the point most people think it's Windows 7 but that's how I like so that's how it 's setup.
I'm more than willing to try this if I have no other choice once Windows 10 is no longer supported. I do have another PC (Airtop3 i9-9900K) I can fall back on that meets the requirements, but I shouldn't have to retire the one I'm currently using. My other option is to send it all the way back to Compulab in Israel. I feel comfortable swapping out a CPU in anything except this air-cooled PC. Even the motherboard is something that no off the shelf MB can replace. Apparently Compulab doesn't want anyone in that section of the PC. If all the software I must have to do my job would run (correctly) on Linux, I'd swear off Windows today. I'll have a freshly cloned copy of the current boot drive handy if I have to go down this road.
If it goes South, I can be back to where I started in a very few minutes. I'm hoping MS will come to their senses as retiring millions of decent and capable PCs is not a good option.
I can't wait to try this experiment. Like you said, I don't want to try this on my Daily Desktop. However, I do have 3 other computers with the same type motherboard but different CPU's in them. If works on those, then it should work on my Daily Desktop. I hate the thought of having buy a new computer and transfer programs to a new computer, when these older computers I have work really well on Windows 10.
Alright, this experiment worked for me and I had some interesting results. The computer model I experimented with was an HP S5-1414 with an I3-2130 and 4g of ram. (Note: the i3 is not showing compatible and I don't have TPM 2.0) So my feeling is, this should work on all S5 series. Window Terminal does not display for me, as stated in the video and Powershell is in its place. I ran Window Terminal from the search bar and the "settings" feature worked find from there. Also, Windows Update appears to be working as it is downloading 5 updates now.

I used the same method to update one of my machines that is at least 7 years old. So far so good it still updates Windows11 at least the security portion.
My laptop has met every requirements except the 6th gen i5 CPU. So far so good that it has Windows 11 running. Thanks lot.

@@sthan20 I just encountered an error 0x8024a206 in some of the update items. It was not a big issue to me. I just let the rest of the updates done. Restarted my laptop and retried the Windows update again. My Windows 11 update is up to date now.

The processor didn't support and TMP was missing Microsoft's requirements on the old machine I built in 2016. The instruction in the video worked and was very easy to install on the so-called potato! :). I got a little scared when Windows started installing under the name "Windows Server". That's what I read in the readme of the bypass11 page, and I wasn't worried. All Windows Updates were installed without problems and at least the games also worked well. Overall a great guide! Thank you!

Worked like a charm on an 8 year old HP desktop that does not have a TPM and the processor is certainly not on the list. I will be using it as a learning tool so not too concerned about updates. I would rather experiment on this old beast, though it runs really well, rather than my main laptop. Interesting though that my Google confirmation still sees it as a Win 10 machine.

What's hilarious to me - I put Linux on this laptop. Out of sheer curiosity, I wanted to see what the process of getting Windows 11 back on it under Microsoft's requirements would be like.
The result? Windows 11 - the OS this thing shipped with - is ridiculously difficult to reinstall without contacting the manufacturer and getting their custom image burned to a USB.
But it would be trivial to run it on here while bypassing the system requirements.
I think that says everything that needs to be said about exactly how much more secure these "required" features make Windows 11.
TPMs and Secure Boot are fantastic ideas on paper, but the implementation leaves a lot to be desired. (And greatly restricts the freedom of end users who'd want to use them.)
If anyone's concerned about their build being non-secure without these hardware measures in place - take some time to harden your installation regardless of whatever OS you're using and exercise common sense when browsing the web. This stuff doesn't protect you from that much anyway; it's nice to have, but there's so many attack vectors that don't involve hitting the stuff Secure Boot and TPMs secure that you'd need to remain vigilant anyway.

I installed Windows 11 on an unsupported PC just to become familiar with it using a local account. I still have Windows 10 on my supported PC (with a local account) that I use all the time. If Microsoft stops updates to non-supported PCs I will just install Linux on the unsupported PC I have or get a newer PC.
Windows 11 isn’t ‘complete’ enough for my daily driver just yet but as I have to support it in my job I’ve simply setup a virtual machine that I can load in to at any time while still logged in to my Windows 10 OS to test stuff out.
Are you able to run Win11 updates and have you installed any programs on it? Any noticeable issues or red flags?

Great video, very interesting. I have been looking into Windows 11 trying to sort out if it is worth trying. Most of the security features in Win 11 will not be supported on unsupported hardware such as mine. It looks like these security changes are mainly aimed at securing machines for a business environment. I have to answer this question, what makes it worth upgrading for a home user? What am I getting that I don't already have in Windows 10?
This is great. I have everything I need to upgrade My 7700k to this OS but they will not accept the processor. Ridiculous as it may seem because I have everything that passes the PC Health Check. Window 10 is fast. I have SSD's for storage. I even have TPM2 on the Asus Tuf Z270 Mark 1 motherboard. 32gb of DDR4 Memory at 3000mhz and Windows 10 updated to the latest version as of today.
The only reasonable conclusion I can come to is that Microsoft is trying to help boost new PC sales. I've heard all the arguments for security and examples like yours prove that's not a valid argument.
@@CyberCPU I agree completely. I have a I7 5930k on a Gigabyte X99 Gaming 5 motherboard where the Bios has not been updated by Gigabyte to run Windows 11. But Asustek has updated the bios on the Tuf Z270 Mark 1 with the I7 7700k cpu and I have everything ready to go except Microsoft's saying that the processor is not being supported. Baloney!
