I went for dinner on a first date and got the impression that she was feminist but without really knowing what the movement was originally and what it had become. She wasn’t as clever as she thought she was and kept trying to turn the conversation into some kind of an interview, instead of an opportunity to find out about each other. I’m always looking to be polite and try to enjoy the occasion even if I don’t feel like it’s something I want to take any further. I asked for the bill and she said that we would go 50/50. I replied “it’s fine, I’ll take care of it “ her response “I don’t need a man to be able to go out for a meal” me “I’m sure that you don’t, but I invited you here and up until now I have enjoyed your company and also enjoyed the food” her reply “I often eat in places like this, I wouldn’t want you to have gone to these lengths and then be dissatisfied” I’m starting to get pissed off “yeah, it’s expensive, so I don’t think it’s on to invite someone here and then not offer to pay, but I don’t quibble over the bill. I’ve offered to pay it, and if you don’t want me to that’s fine, but you can settle the whole amount I’m not messing around with splitting anything, it’s embarrassing” I walked away from the table and went to the WC. I got back and asked her if it was all good and okay to leave. The bill was still there, so I picked it up and looked at it, £240:00. I called a waitress over and said “thank you for your looking after us” I gave her £20:00 and told her that there was still £100:00 of the bill remaining. She gave me a kiss on the cheek and said “no problem, I’ll tell David” I then walked out of the restaurant. A minute later I heard the sound of clacking heels and felt a hand on my arm. She pulled me around and said that she didn’t have any money with her. I couldn’t f***ing believe it. I told her to go back and grab her coat and not to worry about it, as my brother owns the place. The look on her face was…. She demanded that I return with her and that she was sorry for her behaviour but my chauvinistic mannerisms had provoked a response.
I kept on walking in disbelief…

We exchanged a few texts and I spoke to her over the phone on one other occasion. I got really bad vibes from her. Volatile one minute, and then apologetic to a point that quickly became an annoyance. She had the ability to go from up to downbeat in a second. She didn't seem aware of the atmosphere the last text had created, and would start the following correspondence as if she hadn't insulted me, or alternatively said something nice. Completely neurotic, bordering on dangerous. Sorry to disappoint, bro.

13. Spoilt brat-like/elitist behaviour (e.g. people who refer to themselves as "bad b*tches", claim to have "very high standards" or are "high maintenance" ) [often correlates with No. 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5]
14. Materialistic [often correlates with No. 12 & 13]
15. Their actions don't follow their words (cognitive dissonance)
16. No sense of boundaries
17. Uses past events or personal information you gave when you 'opened up' to them, as ammunition against you during fights or quarrels.
18. Clingy, jealous or possessive (e.g. not being allowed to have any female friends/spend time with family or friends, etc)
19. Frequent quarrels over trivial things--it seems some people think toxicity makes relationships more 'fun or exciting' (or even straight up admit they enjoy toxicity in relationships)
20. Habit of lying (shouldn't be ignored [along with No. 7, 14 & 16] as it could escalate over time [often correlates with No. 10, 11, 13 & 15. Possibly with No. 6] )
21. Has a tiny, little girl/baby-like voice (possibly due to trauma or abuse at a young age [Reference: Dr. Drew Pinsky - Loveline] )
22. Expects you to 'mind-read' their thoughts and/or 'hints'
*Their mentality of dependence and expectations is so high they use emotions to smoke screen this shameful behaviour. [Shouldn't be ignored. Could correlate with No. 19]
23. Sh*t Tests---"used to determine your frame. Frame is a concept which essentially means 'composure and self-control.” (shouldn't be ignored; usually continues indefinitely, may escalate over time [Often correlates with No. 11, 16 & 19. Possibly with No. 7 & 17] )
24. Ultimatums (could correlate with No. 13, 16 & 18)
25. Can't/doesn't take 'No' for an answer (Strongly correlates with No. 16, possibly with No. 11 & 18 [Shouldn't be ignored; possible sign of an abusive person, may lead to tantrums, physical assault or other 'crazy' behaviours] )
26. Comes from a broken/toxic/abusive home and/or lacks (proper) parental figure(s). (Often correlates with No. 4, 6, 8, 10, 16, 19, 20 [compulsive or pathological lying] & 21)
*The issue is simply not just coming from aforementioned homes, but many don't seek professional help and/or properly work on themselves so they carry that mental/emotional baggage into their relationships.
27. They're often passive aggressive (Could correlate with No. 22. Possibly with No. 7, 11, 19 & 25)

For those who are perplexed about No. 1-5, google search for images of Saweetie or blac chyna or sumn idk
These flags could be a result of insecurities, emotional and/or mental immaturity, childhood emotional neglect, attention/validation seeking, attachment issues, etc.
Observing people's personalities, character and behaviours rather than focusing on their 'physical attractiveness' is a good way to overcome the halo effect.
Also, like attracts like, so make sure to be self-aware and reflect on your actions/behaviour to grow and mature as a person. And be compassionate to others as you'd be to yourself.
These are just my observations & opinions and should be held up to scrutiny.

Before my current 9yr relationship, I would never *initially* ask a woman out for a date; firstly, it would always be for a coffee etc, never a venue where alcohol was present. I'd like to get to know the woman properly (everyone has their own way of getting to know someone). I'd like to see what her personality is like, without the influence of alcohol. See if she could hold an intellectual conversation etc, see where her mind is in life and what her [own] personal goals are, and what she has done to achieve her current goals etc

As a Child Protection Officer, coupled with my employment experiences - my personal preferences would be to *NEVER* date a single mother, nor anyone on dating sites, especially those that catfish with photos from 5-10yrs ago and heavily filtered or touched up with layers of makeup etc.

Discuss finances before the date. Don't assume anyone will pay or not pay for you. Ladies, if you want the dude to pay for the date when he asks you out, just say, "no, I don't have the money to go out. I'm sorry." The dude will offer to pay on the spot if he's interested. If someone asks you out, man or woman, I think it is okay to offer to split a check, but it is chivalrous to pay for the first date. After that its up to you as a couple, and is really the first sign of trust in a relationship. I usually will let a man pay for me for lunch/dinner on a first date, but if we do a movie or something after then I am more than happy to cover that. I think that is very fair and equitable.

If it's a hookup from a dating app, then it's nothing more than a business transaction for renting her advertised assets. If she wants payment in the form of a meal, room and transportation, the benefits better be worth the cost. If it's from a traditional meeting and ends up later as dating, then I'd follow those traditional ways and cover the costs as part of a real relationship perspective.
