Crying like a fool listening to you read farmer boy. I adore little house…it’s truly the essence of my boys’ little years. I love it, it makes me so happy, but also so sad that they are getting so big so fast. I’m so so proud of them, but these years are slipping away. Too short!! I’m so thankful I’ll always have little house to remind me of the sweetness we shared reading those stories over and over again.

So calm and lovely! I just got a job working with kids at a local elementary school! I am so happy to have been to have a job, provided by God! I am so thankful that I will leave this year in a place much better than how I entered it:)

Blessings Lea and James! I was going to ask you about your potatoes then saw you harvesting. So happy to see Father's grace to give you fruit from the vine! I have a tomato plant that came out of nowhere that is growing in between brick and black top. It's growing like crazy, very fruitful and I didn't plant it. I call it "God's tomato plant". Only He can grow something in a place that it shouldn't with great success. I'm tempted at times to prune but then I remember He doesn't need my help I need His and leave the plant alone. Simply love you and grateful for God's grace that included both of you in our lives! ❤

Yes 😢 the heaviness of the heart. When I think of the way the world is headed, fear grips me and I call out to the Lover of my soul. I ask Him for guidance and strength to face each day that seems to come so rapidly I can hardly breath. And then I catch myself and snap out of what I know is inevitable and try and act as though it’s not and carry on with life’s daily chores. Every now and then a tear falls but I dry my eyes and move forward.
Our children have all grown up and have lives of their own and rarely call or come by for a visit. Grandkids are grown, Great Grands don’t even know who we are and so the cycle repeats…
My hubby is still here and we have each other to cling to and share each others company however long our LORD allows us to be together.
Lea, you give me inspiration to move forward in this life with what is right in front of us. Our land, our home, our vehicles, our garden, our fur and feathered babies. All the bounty that God has blessed us with to care for creates a sense of peace and joy that is unexplainable.
May He be glorified in all!
The seasons of life come upon us quicker than we expect. My grand babies are across the country and i've never gotten to love on the one year old. I cry to our Father sometimes and then remember it's all in His hands and not to lose sight of the blessings and service He has for me now.

Farmer Boy has so much food talk it always makes me hungry. Every time I read a book from the little house series , I like to make a recipe referenced in the book. When i last read Farmer boy, I made Almanzo's favorite - Apples and onions
I found this recipe online inspired by the book . It came out great, if anyone wants to give it a go -- ( I served this with veggie burgers for me and regular beef burgers for hubby and it was great complement to the burgers)
Ingredients
4 T. butter
3 apples, peeled and sliced thin
1 large sweet white onion, sliced thin
pinch of sea salt
pinch of nutmeg
drizzle of pure maple syrup
Instructions
Melt butter in a medium skillet.
Add onions. Cook over medium-high heat until onions are slightly caramelized (15-20 minutes).
Add apples, salt and nutmeg. Cook another 15-20 minutes or until apples are soft.
Drizzle with maple syrup before serving.
