      Happy March! I’m doing great, I hope you’re doing well! I’m glad I found your channel. I’ve been binge listening/watching a lot of your videos. I turned my manuscript over to my editor last week (for the very first time), so.. I’m just trying to learn and soak up as much as possible. 😊

      Knowing you don't have all the answers is actually encouraging because I'm striving for balance too, but it's so hard. I did not get to write at all in January/February or even set up my planner, but I got a lot of health things set up and got my family to sit down and make actual plans to work towards our goals. As long as I do something each day that's productive and a step forward, then I'm happy.

    I'm going to try doing a March reset, but I'm struggling right now. My son was living with me, going to college, but decided college was not for him. He was still going to stay here and work (we moved from Tennessee to Michigan in 2020). He went to Tennessee for the holidays and kept postponing his return. He dropped a bombshell on me this past Wednesday informing me he's not coming back. So, I'm dealing with severe empty nest syndrome and it's not fun. I know I'll get past it, but man, nothing can prepare us for when the kids fly from the nest. As always, watching your videos gives me a glimmer of hope so thank you for that. My word for the year, Brave, really needs to kick in about now.

    Happy March! I needed this today. You always make me feel seen. Since my surgery the end of August, I haven’t gotten back into the swing of writing or really back to anything. The first two months of 2023 haven’t gone how I had planned and watching this video made me cry. Someone who gets where I’m at, even if they don’t know I’m in the thick of it. I finally started writing again. Yay! I am taking the time to let it happen organically instead of forcing it. I’m excited for this month and what’s to come.
    I can’t thank you enough for all you share and post. It helps me tremendously!💗💗💗

    Great video--I love the kanban method and your boards and office goodies. I think a lot of us who are self-employed (especially online) can really relate to what you talked about with balancing taking care of ourselves and our businesses. It can seem like whatever is not being immediately focused on gets ignored. Thanks for being so honest and sharing that, you're certainly not alone. :)

    TH-cam is definitely not passive income. I was sick for 3 wks and couldn't film my typical content and since I'm a smaller channel saw my subscribers count lower 😭 you work so hard but if you have to pause it shows up right away. I would love to learn the trick to having balance in my life as well so if you ever find the trick I will be super happy to learn it!!

    • @HeartBreathings
      @HeartBreathings  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, exactly! It's so frustrating that the algorithms work this way and constantly push us to make more more more, faster than ever. But what else can we do but try not to judge ourselves based on the subscriber count and try to find the balance and joy despite the numbers! I'll keep looking for the balance trick !

    My biggest struggle since the beginning of the year is pregnancy brain, morning sickness, and many doctors appointments. I decided to postpone an edit until camp because I just couldn't fit it in my head.
    I love the purple notebook, it's one of my favorite colors.

    • @HeartBreathings
      @HeartBreathings  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh yes, do I understand this!!! Pregnancy brain is REAL, and morning sickness makes it so tough to focus on anything but getting through the moment. It's all worth it in the end, but I know it's tough while you're going through it!

    Thanks so much for this update. To start the year I followed your example and did a kanban style setup with post-its in a 9x12 sketchbook I use as a planner and workbook. It was great..and then the year started and I got tracked to other things. By the start of March I figured I just had some pretty post-it covered pages that hadn't really ended up working. But...I think I'm right where you're at and am committed to giving it a refresh and reset. Thanks again for the inspiration and the reality checks along the way.

    Yay! for the reset! I've been trying to figure mine out, so this reminded me of a few things, and gave me a few ideas. For the roses, if you want them to live longer, cut the stems underwater. It can be a bowl or such, but when you make that cut the stem "breathes" and if it's in the air, it gets air bubbles in the stem, and that dries them out and kills them faster. If you cut them under water (you can do that with any flower, too), then it "breathes" water and not air and they live longer. Also, store them in the fridge at night, and that prolongs life, too. I've had roses last 3-4 weeks that way.
    Love the new energy! And I've been loving the P&T class. I know what you mean about balance, I'm struggling there, too. I'm hoping as Spring progresses that I'll get more energy. Keep going, you are crushing it, more than you realize. Don't let the board sass you!

    I am perpetually astounded by the fact that all this making of calendars and writing post-its actually works for some people. For me, personally, it would just be massive additional work that I'd hate to do. So... celebrate our differences, I guess? (Still love watching your videos, your attitude is so lovely and wholesome, and it's just interesting to watch you plan :) )

    • @HeartBreathings
      @HeartBreathings  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, I think it's really down to how you work best! It's really interesting to hear about how other people get motivated and stay on track.

    • @janeyannachicken9053
      @janeyannachicken9053 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@HeartBreathings I, personally, stay on track by not having a track to stay on. I just work on the days that I work and do as much as I do, and I'm done when I'm done.
      I appreciate that your method of planning adjusts regularly so the goals can stay realistic and achievable, but I just... I don't know. I just work and that's it :)))
      On the other hand I don't have half a dozen projects too keep an eye on like you do, with your several channels and courses, so maybe if I wouldn't just write I'd get benefit from at least keeping a checklist :)

So, I turned your video on (I've watched your resets before, so, I know the basic process) and let it play on my monitor as inspiration while I worked on my board next to you. Now I've got it propped up next to me, and I'm going to hop into my manuscript and pull at least one word sticky down into "done" before the night is through. Funnily enough, I finally got my head around setting priorities in my action plan towards my goals this month. It feels really good to have mapped out the month ahead and to not have just given up on my goals for this quarter altogether. I now know which things are the gateways to making the most headway towards each goal, and can just work through the list in order.
    I'm happy to see you feel that you're back on track, and just honestly want to tell you I think you're a powerhouse. I had been struggling with my goals, and so I allowed myself to get distracted from them altogether. Your kanban tells me that you may not have achieved 100% of what you think you should have done, but it hasn't stopped you working towards them. You are more than enough, and I was sorry to see you struggle last month. You are very hard on yourself, and I hope that you took a breath enough in February to help you see that you've still achieved so much!

    Oh Sarra, you just have the most perfect timing. I've been feeling down because my ADHD is kicking me hard, which makes getting anything done difficult. Also, hubby is now facing surgery at the end of this month and a looooong recovery afterwards. Between those two issues the goals I had set myself for this year just aren't happening, the house is a mess, my finances are in the toilet and my eldest has been accepted to university for September and I have no idea how we're going to afford it! So, this video comes along reminds me to reset and just get myself restarted. Well, thank you universe for giving me that nudge and for you, Sarra, being the instrument of that reminder. I'm going to go reset for this month and see what I can complete by the end of this month.

    The way to find balance between home and work is... Switching between the two in those micro pockets of time that you spoke about in a previous video. Just because you schedule a break from writing doesn't mean you can't clean something in the 5 minutes between sprints. Sometimes I can't wait for the timer to ring so that I can get back to the cleaning. .... Think of it this way ... Clean and writing are two very different tasks. Doing one gives that part of your brain a break from the other part of your brain. ... Your writing brain gets a break and your house gets clean five minutes at a time. Getting chores off your list, gives you the headspace to check even more off your list! And at the end of each day, celebrate that you got to check something off your list as there are people who are limited and are luck to get out of bed today! Instead of getting down on yourself about all the things you have to migrate to the next day. 💖🌞🌵😷

    So, just found the time to watch some more of this and, if you want to hear my goal-less perspective:
    Maybe it doesn't have to be about growth so much. The more-more-more that you think you have to keep chasing, when really, the people who are most important are the loyal user base that didn't stumble over you just last week. They're the people who've been watching and reading your stuff for years and years. The constant growth isn't as high quality as the stable base that you have and that just needs a bit of care to stay with you.
    I keep thinking, why don't you have a Patreon account where the people who have loved your work for a long time now can chip in some dollars to keep you going while you work more at your own, sustainable pace, not caring so much about growth? We love you for your heartfelt work, not for the rate at which you can make numbers go up.

    That is not to say that your career is not important, but that literally without your health you are not able to manage other areas of your life. And if the family breaks up in some way or has a major crack then what is this all about anyway?
    You can outsource work. Find creative ways to do that, including family helping with tasks you need done whether it's home or work.
    Spend money on outsourcing in order to help your business grow. Spend money on someone helping around the house if need be. Spend money on delivery instead of going to shop in order to same save time.
    I wrote this not knowing you and what you are doing for sure, but based on what you are saying. But mostly I am able to say it because it's a general blanket statement to everyone as I am laying here icing my leg after my second surgery in less than 5 months, trying to RESET my health.
    I am 53 and not exactly neglected my health, but have had a lot of challenges. And when we are not on top of it and then something happens, it can really crumble really fast and really hard.
    Please put health first and family second and find a way for the rest because without those 2 things, what does the rest matter anyway?

    Dear Sarra, what if there is no possibility for finding healthy balance because the outside system is unhealthy in itself? There could have been a reason, why in former days artists did not do their entire PR. They can participate and add to it, but it simply is another job. I haven´t read one book of you, because the genre is not mine, but I really would like to see you not get lost and unhappy in this crazy media-circus. I think it is time for a revolution. Self-publishers, don´t bleed out! Artists, do your job. PR-people, help artists!
