This would change the White Sox in so many ways moving downtown, it would get more tourists coming to their games which is what the Cubs feed off of at Wrigley. The Sox have always needed something to attract people coming to the games when the team is no good. A downtown stadium would do it for them. I'm not saying they're going to fill it up like Wrigley, but getting a few 5,000 extra butts in the seats is going to be better than Comiskey's location on 35th and Shields because there's things to do around the stadium on gamedays. That's one of the reasons why the Bears draw so well it's right off the edge of downtown, so visitors go into downtown after games to hangout and it's right near hotels too. Bears need to stay right on the Lakefront or move where the Sox are in the South Loop.

Jerry Reinsdorf and Virginia McCaskey are both cheap as hell. You'd be better off selling the diamonds that you get from the coal you put up their tight asses if you get what I mean. Now could they make more money by investing in a new stadium and hosting more events? Yes, but those 2 couldn't see a good idea if it knocked the glasses off their faces. I think your best bet is waiting until George McCaskey owns the team, because George seems to understand one thing. He's not a football guy but he wants to see success, so he understands that he has to bring in guys that actually know what they're doing. The city clearly doesn't have the money, but they don't want them to leave. They presented a budget and a blueprint for a new stadium and their budget was only 2.2 billion. That sounds like a lot until you realize sofi stadium cost 6 billion to build. You don't build a new stadium to not have the best stadium in the league, if you're building new it had better be the best, so you have 2 options. Increase the taxes so the city can fund it (which people don't want) or the owners pay up which is kinda a long shot.
They are cheap, but it's smarter for owners to use other's people's money to get stuff done.

Investing in the White Sox is the worst investment the city can make. Nobody gives a crap unless they are contending, baseball in general is fading, they are competing against a team that kicks their butts regardless of team quality, etc. etc.
@@slappyjones2136 Nonsense, Chicago is big enough to support two teams. Cubs will always be the bigger team because they built their brand first, but the Sox can build themselves up better by moving downtown than being isolated on the southside with nothing around them to attract tourists.
@@retrowarehouse2554 I think the Sox would have to have a Bulls/Blackhawks run to pull it off. Agree that downtown helps, but baseball is more of a niche sport these days and I’ve always felt the Sox were behind the Cubs Bears and Bulls and maybe even the Hawks in fandom. I just see them becoming relevant but I certainly could be wrong.

Have 'the 78' stadium house BOTH the Bears and the Sox in a retracting domed stadium.
We are not in the 1960s or 1970s when there were a bunch of dual use stadiums. These stadiums didn't work which is why the baseball and football teams play in their own stadiums.
I was saying the same thing just put both stadiums next to each other and really make that part of the downtown boom.

@@mrAhollandjr They got a lot of acres of land for parking and to build another stadium. They're in a more isolated part of the South Loop where you can build a lot around it.
