Generally in August you are looking in the deeper waters with surface temps reaching 60 the fish should be most concentrated in the 80-110ft range. Generally, the same approach jigging tubes and if they get finicky a hair jig tapping the bottom never fails either.

that is so cool, I am in Nor Cal and we have a lake that holds huge lakes hard to catch trolling. I need to try this, what what size and color you using in this video?
This one was the TC Moto Pole Dancer in 1.5 oz. There are a few different color options my favorite for summer being the cisco (purple with silver fleck). I often very my sizes depending on the amount of wind I have to deal with anywhere from 1-2oz. Jiggin is by far my favorite way to catch lakers in the summer!
@@NoResults-NoCharge If your referring to the colour it is mainly due to light penetration. IF your referring to the weights i go heavier in the summer dos to boat drift and keeping vertical where as ice fishing your line is always directly below you unless your on some sort of lake with a current
Canadian Sled Dog if you don’t have a sonar I would focus on jigging the bottom and reeling up every 10 mins or so. you can always count down your lure when dropping to determine your depth
This weekend we were focusing in any where form 40ft -90ft and it was very successful. As the water temps start to warm up a bit more they will probably start to slide out deeper more to the 80-120ft range again. This is on my home lake of Cold Lake
I never see nice conditions like that..would be nice. Flathead lake is a bit of a brute. Nothing like a great lake. Daily wind and waves to be expected.
Depends on the day. When I'm searching for fish like this I'm looking for a reaction bite so bait isn't always necessary... When fish are a little more finicky bait can make all the difference and that's when I will throw on a piece of sucker belly!
@@weaversbentrods good to know I've never fished for lake trout so I'm trying to learn all that I can there's a lake near me that has them and big one's from what I hear.

This is very rare for this lake as well but you just have to take advantage with conditions like this!
