      RainerWarrior666 Hardly a corner at all. If you pause it when the girl catches the ball, her gloves is next to the ground. She brings it up a foot to frame the corner. The pitcher needs to learn how to pitch better.

    The so called coach is an absolute JOKE and should be ashamed of himself! His actions were disgraceful and he allowed his parents to follow suit right behind him. I feel sorry for his players. The umpire was not giving the low strikes to either team the entire game. Coach should have explained this to his pitcher and catcher and made the adjustment. The only fault the umpire carries is letting the game escalate out of control.

      Was far from a ball low, that was a strike. Just because the catcher moved her glove up to frame it better doesn't mean it was low. It was well within the strike zone. This ump was just terrible and made terrible calls the entire game not just at the end

      @chaz1177 10 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Lazzy The entire game was fair and most of the ones they complained about were not in the same zip code of the strike zone. If a catcher has to frame a pitch, they are saying "I agree it was not a strike but I have to try to make it look better than it was". The pitch was low from this angle just like most of the pitches this pitcher was throwing. Notice a catcher doesn't do that when a pitch is a strike, only ones which are not.

      If the pitch was a strike, then why didn't the batter swing? These girls are at a showcase with college scouts.. the last thing a batter wants to do is go down looking at strike three..she had a full count, with bases loaded, if the ball is close she would be swinging...instead, she clearly scoots back a bit which shows the pitch was inside and low..

Shame on the catcher and the pitcher for their part in this absolutely disgraceful act of POOR sportsmanship, they are obviously old enough to know this was wrong, but most of all.. to the couch of this team...if he set this play up...DISGUSTING and he has no right coaching this or any sports team. If by chance he was not part of this, a great or even a partially good coach (not this one though) would definitely reprimand not just the 2 players involved but the whole team, just to send a message of seriousness! For those that are saying they are irritated by the catcher framing a pitch, come on. If the pitch is close that is was the catcher is supposed to do. Some times a catcher can steal a strike or two just by framing it to look better then what it was. I don't agree with plunking the umpire but I'd go a different way about. I've caught my whole baseball career (I have umped plenty of games so I know the other side too) and the worst I have ever done is cuss at an umpire for horrible calls all game. I don't agree with it at all but argue with the ump about it don't hit him on purpose because you don't agree with him. Plus, doing it after a meeting on the mound wasn't very smart.
    Some of you are saying the pitches are low and they are balls. How can tell when you can not see the ball as it crosses the plate? Or where the catcher caught it? Some of the pitches looked good and I am going off the catcher and where she frames it, if it looks close. I was only 7 minutes into the video and I already tell the zone may be a little off

    • @StandAsYouAre
      @StandAsYouAre 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      4 viewers if see the zone in a completely different way: the pitcher, the catcher, the umpire and the batter.
      And at the end of the day, it's the Umpire call.
      If he's picked his zone, he's just picked his zone... And you have to work with it.
      Sure it sucks... I know it sucks... But don't get suckered into it being angry about it or the game will turn to pot, and you spend more energy on chewing out the umpire with your team mates then focusing on performing well.
      But you have to admit what they did was pretty low. And what did they honestly think he was going to do after he got hit?

    Also what coach feels the right to tell an umpire what constitutes a bad or good call? Physically speaking, the point of reference that the umpire to make those calls is ideal, where a coach is quite a distance away and doesn't have a good field of vision to make such a judgement. Idiots will be idiots.

  • @baseballumpires6901
    @baseballumpires6901 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    Wow. So coach complains once in the 1st inning. Not a peep until late in the final inning. Overall this umpire was very consistent. I counted 2 pitches I would have had strikes on from this camera angle so this is not bad at all. The final pitch before the assault the catcher caught it low and brought it back up. At the point of the plate it looked low. In my judgment he was correct on this call. What I see here is a team getting beat that probably didn't expect to get beat and they took it out on the umpire.

    I don't think the parents in the stands that are constantly taunting the umpire every single pitch know how much of that is heard by the players. After they hear it call after the call they to start to think the umpire is against them no matter what. That's when things get out of control, tempers flair and bad decisions are made. I don't blame the players for following directions as much as I would blame the parents and coaches for being horrible role models. You have the worst view in the stadium to be judging balls and strikes. You're elevated, at an angle, and until you've put on the mask and done it yourself, you have no right to say anything. Unfortunately the decisions of the adults representing this team will scar the players for a while. How do you trust your coaches decision making on anything when they tell you to do this?

      That's the thing, the players work really hard to train and prepare for games. The game has a defined strike zone in the rules and the umps are getting paid to be there uphold the rules. When they start making up their own strike zone they are changing the rules oh the spot and running the game for the players. I play once a week and I look forward to it. If the other team wins, they were better that day. If the ump takes the bat out of our hands because he's invented his own strike zone, it taints any victory for either team. Bring on the robozone!

  • @henryjew569
    @henryjew569 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    All the people talking about how bad or good the umpire was is not the point. It does not really matter about how good or bad he is. What matters is the catcher moved out of the way and let the ball hit the unpire on purpose,of that there is no doubt. This should not be allowed to happen at all. The field umpire did eject the catcher three times but then cancelled the game. This may have been because the coach or someone saying something and forced his hand,so the cancel. If the catcher had stayed put and just missed catching the ball,which does happen,then this whole thing may not have developed into this. I have been a catcher myself and you just do not do anything to hurt or injure another on purpose as this was done.

    That coach started up in the 1st inning and even dropped a G-Damn. I would have warned him on the G-Damn and restricted him if he persisted. People on the short clip tried to make it out like the umpire was the problem when really the coach was the problem. I will criticize him in the 1st inning on the check swing going to his partner in C position. He is not in a position to make a call on the check swing for a right handed batter. She held on that pitch and he should not have called it different. If he were in B or if that were a left handed batter he would have been in a better position to make that call.

    I agree with Tutorial King that no matter how bad the calls may be you do not try to hurt anyone. As a Umpire I always try to make the best calls I can and I will have a few missed calls both strikes and balls or safe and out. What most people do not realize is that Umpires do not look at where the catcher catches the ball but where the ball passes over the plate. Every Umpire has a slightly different strike zone as to High/low and corners but a good pitcher/cathcer combination will adjust to match the Umpire. Most Umpires will give a ball width on the corners and go from the top of the knee to the armpit/sternum for a strike. I guess the biggest issue I have is that the coach talks to the team right before the pitch and that tells me that it was planned. I would have ejected the coach, pitcher, and the catcher from the game since they were all part of the plan.
