Pathologic Diagnosis of Lung Adenocarcinoma: Are You Doing it Right in 2019?

This video is a discussion of adenocarcinoma of the lung, especially with regard to pathologic diagnosis. Many things have changed in this area over the years; we discuss the state of the art in 2019. I am a medical doctor (a pathologist). My job involves diagnosing diseases such as lung cancer, mesothelioma, infections and interstitial lung disease by examining tissue samples under a microscope. I also teach medical students, pathology residents, and pulmonary and critical care fellows. I am the author of a textbook of non-neoplastic lung pathology published by Cambridge University Press. Brilliant lecture on the pathology of lung adenocarcinoma! It's so hard to come across easy-to-follow lectures on pathologic findings. Most books only say "this pattern" or "that pattern" but don't really point to which specific part of the image it is referring to. The narration along with the pointer is spot on! :)

shomaniv good question! STAS is when tumor cells extend into alveoli beyond the mass. As long as they fall into airspaces inside the mass it’s micropapillary but not STAS.

Your just amazing I wish I studied this subject and I had a teacher like you my dad has stage 4 lung cancer his pdl1 is 80% to 90% he's had 4 rounds of keytruda so far he seems to be getting a little worse he can no longer sit or walk that's becuase he's always laying down so his muscles have become very weak becuase he's lazy in genral he's to weak for chemo is their anything else that can help him please does this keytruda isn't working
