For all you young kids out there... back then this was the “super producer era”. The mid to late 90’s and then incoming the 2000’s (Super producer era)was the greatest time in HipHop. The Neptunes made it cool to be a dork or an outsider. Beats back then were only made by people who had the drive and passion and invested money in the gear such as MPC or the Triton... Motif etc .. you actually had to know what you were doing or have a friend who was good with the gear. I miss those days. Young people now will never get it.
Right, every producer had their own sound. There were no sound kits etc. Producers had to create and develop their sounds. Even though Virginia had a lot of producers, Neptunes, Bink, Missy, Timbo, they all sounded different. Nothing alike. This is when one producer could carry the whole sound of a whole album for an artist. Today, you have a million producers who all use the same sounds, patterns, etc.
Back then there was probably an older dude hating on Neptunes, Timbo etc. Old people will always hate on the youth. It happens every decade and it's all bullshit and you know it. Old people hate on auto-tune while their parents hated on DJs scratching. But it's the same thing. Using a technology in a new and different way. The youth will always be inspired by new sounds and have new ways to do thing. The same goes for how easy and available thing are today. I remember DJ Premier hated on Serato. Now he's using it. Stop the hate and start appreciate. There are so many dope new musicians and artists out now.
One if the greatest duos in music history up there with jimmy jam and Terry Lewis. They made beautiful music together that shit touched something in me. I have probably every Neptune song that was produced that was released. Sad to see what’s going on now but take about a run, lawd. They gave me the same feeling Rza did when he did those first rounds of solo albums, incredible Star Track
@@didierledrogue319 it’s not easy. I think if this award was a year later Kanye would have gotten it based on producing college dropout as well as other artists.
Yeah the thing is that no one had reached the heights that The Neptunes had at that time. Timbaland was close but The Neptunes were doing pop, rap, r&b, and rock, and they had hits in all those genres. They all deserved that award but The Neptunes were on another level
Never noticed that was Chad's wife at the end out in the audience. She looked annoyed but then again she was caught talking shit about P taking the spot light while really for awhile Chad was the behind the scenes goat!
Honestly she just looks bored which is understandble cause most award shows are long. I did hear once she felt pharrell got most of the recgonition but i dont she spoke ill of him. What she said is true Pharrell has always been the front man

enzigenes Exactly it sucks
I call producers of today "Build a Bear" producers.
Same cadence and tempo with maybe a different snare placement here and there. That's all.
