    I just picked up an older green powermatic similar to this one. Stupid question, do you use a gear puller to get the cranks off? I loosened the set screws but they don't budge

    • @yotube123454321

      Hmmm if I remember correctly mine came off without too much trouble but who knows how long it's been since yours were off. If you don't have a gear puller, this would be a great excuse to pick one up. They're super handy :D

    I'm picking up a 66 that was made in 93. Loved you video. I'm looking forward to the taredown. Out of curiosity. Do you own the house or are you the upstairs appartment that uses their table saw at all hours of the night? Just asken?

    • @yotube123454321
      @yotube123454321  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Congrats on the 66! Such great machines that will make you smile to use :) I was living a mile from my parents and they let me use the "empty nest" attic as a shop after work. I never ran big tools after 10pm out of respect but they were very supportive of me developing the hobby and I was extremely lucky to have been able to assemble a shop in their house. So in short, this was a "home" situation not an apartment. Good luck with your new toy and have fun!!

    I just finished my second PM66 restoration tonight. I think I enjoyed the restorations as much as any woodworking projects. There is something about the 66….

    • @yotube123454321
      @yotube123454321  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Congrats on finishing the restoration! I haven't owned many old table saws but the PM66 is a beauty indeed. I totally agree that just caring for the machine was as much fun as working with it. The fact that it works so smoothly with some TLC after decades of use is a real joy. If I upgrade to a larger shop someday I might buy another cabinet saw but I'm certain the PM will still be a centerpiece of that shop. Thanks for sharing!

    Beautiful saw man! I just picked one up myself from an auction and i totally didn’t pay attention if it was a single or 3 phase. Turns out it is a 3 phase and of course i only have single phase as most people do. So my question is how do you have yours hooked up? I’m at loss right now on how to hook it up. Thanks in advance.

    • @yotube123454321
      @yotube123454321  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey randy, you'll need to get a phase converter. There are a few types but do some research and you'll find one that fits your needs. It'll probably cost a few hundreds but shouldn't be complicated to make your great saw useable. Mine already had one installed by the previous owner so I was in luck. Congrats on your new saw!

    • @yotube123454321
      @yotube123454321  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You probably won't be surprised that my answer is "it depends". Firstly, I don't really know that much about the market because I haven't been looking recently but if it needs some real work done beyond a good cleaning/lubing I wouldn't pay more than a few hundred bucks. The risk a buyer faces is not knowing the extent of repairs needed before purchasing. This saw needed no repairs and came with a huge amount of useful accessories and add-ons that justified its price.

      Great to have you! The shop is actually in the attic up three flights of stairs haha. I don't make a ton of noise at night when it might cause problems for neighbors so that's helped me stay out of trouble haha. The biggest issue is having too much stuff in a small space and being lazy about reorganizing and getting rid of tools because that entails hauling stuff up and down. My next shop will either be at ground level or will have a freight elevator lol.
