CAUTION: The screen on these computers must be INCREDIBLY fragile. I had two of these notebooks. One would no longer power on. The other worked but the LCD screen wouldn't turn on (confirmed that everything was booting and worked with an external monitor). All that was really wrong was the LCD screen became unplugged. However, you can't plug it back in w/o removing the LCD screen which requires removing the bezel (which was a pain). I originally thought the screen was bad so I took the screen off the notebook that wouldn't boot and then took off the screen that wasn't working (which is when I noticed it simply had become slightly unplugged). Put the plug back in fully and the screen worked EXCEPT it was now cracked (didn't notice until powered on). I then put the other LCD screen on, and it was also cracked in the corner (making one corner all black). Apparently simply removing the screens broke them. I thought I was careful. I'm guessing the act of removing the bezel is what caused the screens to crack since removing the bezel was difficult and required force. I imagine I could do it now w/o messing up the screen since I i now know they are very fragile. Unfortunately, I don't have another notebook to pull the screen off of. Sucks. i now wish I had removed the entire top portion w/ the screen w/o removing the bezel and just swapped them from the two notebooks. I could have gotten a functional notebook that way. I should have known not to remove that bezel. I doesn't seem like it was really meant to be removed.

I am replacing the touchpad for my 840 G3 with a good-condition used touchpad from another 840 G3. What can I do to fasten the grounding tapes if the grounding tapes on the replacement are not “sticky”?

Being that this machine is a ~*LaPtOp~* I should, conceivably, be able to take it with me off the grid for days at a time with several fully charged batteries and still be able to keep using it, even without access to power. Ya know, designed for portability and convenience of travel and all that. But lol, what-- turns out I literally have to disassemble the entire machine if I want to switch out batteries?!?!?!? What are you thinking, HP?!?!?!??!?!?!?
