  • Andy Wilde presents 'Uranium, palaeochannels & climate change' for SGEG Facets of Exploration Webinar.
Abstract: The predicted increase in nuclear power generation requires the discovery of many new uranium deposits. Research into uranium deposits, with some notable exceptions, has been sparse in recent years and mineral systems models for many deposit types need updating. In this talk I will discuss uranium deposits formed in palaeochannels in Namibia (also known as calcrete or surficial deposits) and relate ore deposition to climate change.
Bio: Andy’s career in mineral exploration has spanned over 35 years and has included the following roles and achievements:
    • Exploration manager and/or chief geologist for several ASX-listed mid-cap and junior companies
    • Senior roles with multinational mining companies BHP and Gold Fields
    • Consultant geologist/geochemist to the United Nations International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and a wide range of exploration companies
    • Senior researcher in the Co-operative Research Centre in Predictive Mineral Discovery
    • Author or co-author of nearly 50 peer-reviewed scientific papers
  • วิทยาศาสตร์และเทคโนโลยี
