#FEEDBACKCORNER I request Amma Ji to please address this misconception about Haq Mehr. Because we as a society need to address the issue and bring about the due change. Haq Mehr is THE ONLY thing perhaps in our shadis that is according to Quran & Sunnah. Surah Baqarah clearly states that it is the right of the Bride given to her directly from Allah SWT. And we find clear guidelines on how to determine the amount. There is NO SHARAYI HAR MEHR. It is determined according to the status, wealth, education, and even at instances the beauty of the man and his wife. It is not an optional clause, but strict rules have been laid upon it. It is not desirable to delay it or categorize it under 'gair moajjal' (that can be given later) if you have the capacity to bear it at the time of your marriage. It is simply very disappointing that we can spend millions on the shadi and when it comes to the right/obligation, we simply sweep it under the carpet. And it's the elders and these very common lines 'k ziada haq mehr se betiyan nai basayi jati' that we have a VERY WRONG understanding of this concept. There is no reason to deny something that is CLEARLY mentioned in Quran.

It’s society which is continuously attaching negativity to rights of women mentioned clearly in Quran. As far as hadith is concerned, there are ahadith pertaining to haq mehr including a famous hadith where Hazrat Umar R.A once asked men to not accept if a woman demands too much haq mehr because he thought its becoming a burden on men. A woman from the crowd stood up and said “ O Umer, you can not put a limit on it when Allah has said clearly in Surah Nisa that once you divorce a woman, don’t take back anything forcefully from their mehr, even if you have given her the heaps of wealth other than whatever she agrees to return” And Umer R.A immediately accepted his mistake and reverted that order of putting a limit on mehr because it was against Allah’s words. It’s not the exact statement of hadith, there can be slight change of words. But it means same. So when Allah and his prophet p.b.u.h and his companions endorsed this thing, how can we say it’s something not so important. Just because society presents it as something bad doesn’t mean it necessarily is.

Although at the time of divorce it would be more practical, as by the time she gets divorced she would have spent it and given zakaat on it.

I request Amma Ji to please address this misconception about Haq Mehr. Because we as a society need to address the issue and bring about the due change.
Haq Mehr is THE ONLY thing perhaps in our shadis that is according to Quran & Sunnah. Surah Baqarah clearly states that it is the right of the Bride given to her directly from Allah SWT. And we find clear guidelines on how to determine the amount. There is NO SHARAYI HAR MEHR. It is determined according to the status, wealth, education, and even at instances the beauty of the man and his wife.
It is not an optional clause, but strict rules have been laid upon it. It is not desirable to delay it or categorize it under 'gair moajjal' (that can be given later) if you have the capacity to bear it at the time of your marriage.
It is simply very disappointing that we can spend millions on the shadi and when it comes to the right/obligation, we simply sweep it under the carpet. And it's the elders and these very common lines 'k ziada haq mehr se betiyan nai basayi jati' that we have a VERY WRONG understanding of this concept. There is no reason to deny something that is CLEARLY mentioned in Quran.
These people that write and produce these dramas are the most jahil ppl i have ever seen

Anam Javed if it wouldn’t have been that important then it wouldn’t have been mentioned in Quran with great emphasis. It’s society which is continuously attaching negativity to rights of women mentioned clearly in Quran. As far as hadith is concerned, there are ahadith pertaining to haq mehr including a famous hadith where Hazrat Umar R.A once asked men to not accept if a woman demands too much haq mehr because he thought its becoming a burden on men. A woman from the crowd stood up and said “ O Umer, you can not put a limit on it when Allah has said clearly in Surah Nisa that once you divorce a woman, don’t take back anything forcefully from their mehr, even if you have given her the heaps of wealth other than whatever she agrees to return” And Umer R.A immediately accepted his mistake and reverted that order of putting a limit on mehr because it was against Allah’s words.
It’s not the exact statement of hadith, there can be slight change of words. But it means same. So when Allah and his prophet p.b.u.h and his companions endorsed this thing, how can we say it’s something not so important. Just because society presents it as something bad doesn’t mean it necessarily is.
