Fort Myers-Caoe Coral local here. The Shell Factory has been around for longer than 80 years. It is an OG old Florida tourist trap, popular amongst visitors and locals alike.
Thta more or less confirms my suspicion that a lot of the bumps and drops arecaused by the age, tree roots raising parts of the green while other parts drop down towards lakes or some softer underground. I fear it wouldn't be easy to change much about it without destroying a historical place.
"The Shell Factory, Inc." was listed in the local newspaper tourist guide as featuring "Shells From the Four Corners of the Earth" starting January 26, 1941.
The Shell Factory opened in 1938. I used to go all the time when I was a youngster. Opened oysters to find pearls and I even bought a shell with my name on it. It’s a fun place.
When I came down in 1968 with my parents we stopped at the Shell Factory on the way back from Key West and the cape were Apollo 8 was ready for launch.
The iconic Shell Factory in North Fort Myers has a rich history. Since 1937, when Harold and Mildred Crant began selling seashells by the seashore in Bonita Springs, it has undergone numerous changes and faced various challenges. Fire destroyed the original Bonita site, but in 1954, the attraction moved to its current location1. The Shell Factory now sits on 18 acres along U.S. 41 it’s a vibrant destination with a fascinating collection of rare shells, sponges, coral, fossils, and other sea life specimens. Visitors can explore taxidermy animals, birds, fish, and reptiles, as well as enjoy gift shopping in its 60,000 square feet of retail space. The Shell Factory also features a water park, miniature golf, and a nature park with over 300 animals and native plants. It’s a true Southwest Florida gem!
Elisha, your sarcasm and dry humor are appreciated. It is the best way to tell the truth about the situation. What would help the courses is metal railings on the inside of the bricks.
This was definitely one of the more difficult videos to sit through given the frustration of the course. Having said that, I didn't expect either of you to get any holes in one, not because of your skill, but because of the weirdness of the course, so having gotten two. Great job! And thank you, guys, for suffering through courses like this for our "enjoyment" We appreciate it!
I went to High school in North Fort Myers. Shell factory opened in the late 1930's. Mini golf is quite a bit newer. They tried to put in an amusement park at the Shell Factory in the late 1980's. It really didn't work out. I think mini golf came in after that. It's not near as old as Jungle Golf down toward Ft Myers Beach.
Hi Brooks and Elisha!! Good luck out there 🙂 👍 I hope you guys win 🏆 you guys mean a lot to me very much 🙂🤗❤️❤️❤️you guys are really important and special to me forever and forever and ever and ever to ❤❤❤I love you guys very much ❤️ ❤❤❤you guys are very funny 😁 I appreciate your videos a lot 🙏🏽❤❤❤keep going you guys are doing awesome 🙂👌

This course reminds of a course that was in Southern California (Shady Acres in Long Beach for reference) back in the day. It was pretty old too, I remember playing it in the mid 70s and I think I heard it had been around since the 50s. The course looked so old, that of the holes did not have turf on it; just the cement before turf was installed on it (which made it a challenge). If anyone that course, you might be as old as I am. BTW those bricks have seen better days. 🤣
In the future, to make it more fun. When there are two holes on the course, after you've taken the first stroke, you should go for the hole that is furthest from your ball.
55 + yrs ago, my brother's & I used to collect, bleach & dry sand dollars then sell them & other shells we collected to the Shell Factory to make some change $$ when we were kids. They would coat the sand dollars in a clear finish and sell them to tourist & snowbirds.
Yeah, it's kinda too bad George Romero couldn't have worked a scene or three at this place into Day of the Dead. Can't you just imagine a mess of walkers stumbling around some of these holes? I know I can!😄 I hope Elisha got to visit the animal sanctuary they run down there!
I don't know exactly how old the shell factory is but i can tell you that back in the late 90's my family and i would my sister who used to live in the area, we would go to the shell factory and that is literally all it was, just the shell store. Did not have any of the other rhings there.
Remember this city was hit badly by Hurricane Ian in 2022 and 15-foot storm surges flooding the streets. I'd expect an outdoor course to have a slower recovery from that.
Their website says they’ve been open for more than 80 years but various parts have been added on over the past 30ish years. No mention of where the mini golf course falls in that timeline.
Hole 2) Ok now we have to do maintenance also!:):) Hole 6) Yup that works too!:):) Hole 12) She made it look so easy!:):) Hole 17) Liar:):) Ok this place needs a total overhaul. Throw those bricks away, clean up the place and makwe something new. The holes do not make a lot of sense! Elisha 4528 strokes 38 wins Brooks 4426 strokes 52 wins Mom 393 strokes 1 win (8 games) Dad 176 strokes (4 games) 9 ties
Brooks, it’s okay to give Elisha a penalty stroke. We all know you would have penalized yourself for what happened to Elisha on 18 if instead it would have happened to you. You are way too nice to her lol. I see you do this all the time too. Prime example was that ball launcher at one of the courses awhile back where your ball got stuck even though you hit it and it should have been a hole in one but it was instead a machine malfunction and you gave yourself a 2 🤦🏻♂️like, we all know you would have given Elisha a 1 if that would have happened to her. Cmon man. I want to root for you but sometimes you make it so hard. All in all, though, great video! Tough tough course! Thanks for the upload 😊
Before I looked up the official website, I could tell The Shell Factory has multiple attractions and does not care about its mini golf course. So many of the courses you play show serious TLC by the people running them. Then there are courses like this.
I rememer the Shell Factory went bankrupt in the 90s. My father had just refurbished the big iconic sign for them but never was paid for the work due to the bankruptcy.
Great video , the course was not the best , even the real bricks sounded fake lol , i like the way Elisha keeps saying it needs some love in other words it is rubbish .hahahaha.
It looks like people decided they wanted to add a mini golf course to their Fun Center, and had no idea how to install or maintain a mini golf course. It's sad.

I needed those video today. I had my dads funeral this morning. This is cheering me up
My condolences. I hope the funeral went as well as such things can.
I'm so very sorry for your loss. Condolences to all.
May his memory be a blessing. RIP
😢
Condolences to you 🙏
This course is something else...
Think maybe I’ll give this one a miss. Castle Golf is the best I’ve played in that area-what would you say is the second best, pls?
The course definitely needs some lovin and care and I believe the term your looking for is multigenerational course
Mini golf and nature park was added roughly 27 years ago when it was bought out of bankruptcy according to its website.
"The Shell Factory, Inc." was listed in the local newspaper tourist guide as featuring "Shells From the Four Corners of the Earth" starting January 26, 1941.
Needs some TLC fur shizzle aka it needs some love like they said. Smoother bricks..new carpet..new holes

Hey Elisha bringing the black shirt and boots from early videos years ago. Nice little course
Team Brooks this vid, let’s get it😎🥸
This course does need some love !
This is gonna be a banger 🔥
I didn’t expect you both to get a two on hole number one. This shell factory has definitely been here for ages, I definitely agree with you on that.
Brooks your shoes are fire!🔥
Hilarious guys! I opened a bottle of "daddy's water" for you on hole 4. Very good job hanging in there and publishing this one!!
😆
Monday is Elisha day!! GO TEAM ELISHA #### Brooks was Fri and Sat Thumbs up !!
Congrats on the twin tour. You should have them on your channel next.

Team Brooks

Beautiful boots ma'am! 😄
Awesome video
That Captain Morgan shot at Hole 4 was par for the course! ;)
Wow I’m such an old school sub, I remember subbing when you only had 40k subs😂😂😂
In the future, to make it more fun. When there are two holes on the course, after you've taken the first stroke, you should go for the hole that is furthest from your ball.
Elisha’s Great 2 Shot on hole 6!
Team Elisha today!!
Where is the coffee when you need it
Course needs a little tlc. Congratulations Elisha on the 2 holes in one. Team Elisha all the way
24:20 Her ball said " Nah I'm out, I don't want to do this anymore."
Love your videos... 😊
Brooks, I was just wondering who your top 5 favorite drummers are..?
Ahh man. Off the top of my head im not too sure. Its been so long since I played
Good challenge
The shell factory is fun, never played their course though.
Looks like theres a lot
Whenever your in the area there is a quaint but charming putt putt course at Colonial Lanes in Iowa City, Iowa.
55 + yrs ago, my brother's & I used to collect, bleach & dry sand dollars then sell them & other shells we collected to the Shell Factory to make some change $$ when we were kids. They would coat the sand dollars in a clear finish and sell them to tourist & snowbirds.
It's courses like this, that are fun to just enjoy the play. Not to really compete.
Yeah, it's kinda too bad George Romero couldn't have worked a scene or three at this place into Day of the Dead. Can't you just imagine a mess of walkers stumbling around some of these holes? I know I can!😄 I hope Elisha got to visit the animal sanctuary they run down there!
Go team Eli. Always and forever. My hubby grow up in the area of Florida. He's never been there tho.
😂brooks with silent burn 😂
U 2 SHOULD GO 2 EVERY MINI GOLF COIRSE IN THE USA AND SHOULD EVEN TRY SOME COURSES IN NEW ZEALAND
"Like" for Elisha's hole-in-one on #12. Wow!
I know you all hate courses like this, but I enjoy the ones that give you a hard time. 😊
All aboard the struggle bus 😅😂
What Struggle 🚌?
Cute boots I'm a shoe girl I'm always digging your shoes Elisha
LOL glitch in the matrix on hole 12!
Wow. Hard course.
I’m rooting for team Elisha. I think Elisha is going to win.
Try pirate black light golf in Fayetteville NC!!!
I don't know exactly how old the shell factory is but i can tell you that back in the late 90's my family and i would my sister who used to live in the area, we would go to the shell factory and that is literally all it was, just the shell store. Did not have any of the other rhings there.
I'm going to shock you today, and go team Brooks for a change.
Elisha’s looking good today. I think I like when women wear jeans and a somewhat form-fitting t-shirt.
High scores win 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Elisha now starts a new band either called Straight Into The Hazard or Opposite Direction Bad Bounce!!!
Also...after brooks hit his second shot on 12, did anyone else hear the bird cackle and go ha ha ha in the distance?
Luck I wasn't playing there as I would have picked up my ball and left. It was painful to watch what you had to endure....you handled it well.
This course is the evil definition of "Struggle Bus".
since most mini golf courses are family owned you should ask the person at the desk
Remember this city was hit badly by Hurricane Ian in 2022 and 15-foot storm surges flooding the streets. I'd expect an outdoor course to have a slower recovery from that.
I went there when I wes a little kid maybe 5 or 6 and I am 49 now so it's been there along time. Some changes over the years but still the same
Like Elisha said, for those competitive mini golf players, good luck
Just to be sure: You think it needs some love??? 😂
Team Elisha

Great hole in 1 elisha
Elisha won playing with those heels
The shell factory is over 80 years. Its more known now for shops and foods
Hole 2) Ok now we have to do maintenance also!:):)
Hole 6) Yup that works too!:):)
Hole 12) She made it look so easy!:):)
Hole 17) Liar:):)
Ok this place needs a total overhaul. Throw those bricks away, clean up the place and makwe something new. The holes do not make a lot of sense!
Elisha 4528 strokes 38 wins
Brooks 4426 strokes 52 wins
Mom 393 strokes 1 win (8 games)
Dad 176 strokes (4 games)
9 ties
I have no clue how long it’s been there and I also have no clue what keeps it going, I’m very sorry about both of those answers.
I agree 192 or 535

Brooks, it sounds like your sound is coming from the camera mic as opposed to your body worn mic.
Team Elisha all the time
This course would drive your dad absolutely mad.
For real 😅
It's been there for 80 years
Hey brooks I live in the fort Myers area and would love to play a game of mini golf with you If you are in there area for a little bit
Hey Brooks can you make a shirt that says struggle bus
A baby kangaroo 🦘 is called a Joey
What’s the par for this course?
I’m not sure. I never found it
Do you guys get bored of the courses that are greens only? Honestly curious

Hole #10 actually looked like it had 3 holes!! ?🤔
Should do another Elisha and your mom vs you video soon
first time for me seeing Elisha wear heeled boots
Team ELISHA 😊😊😊😊😊🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤❤
This place looks frustrating 🥵
Team Elisha
It looks like people decided they wanted to add a mini golf course to their Fun Center, and had no idea how to install or maintain a mini golf course. It's sad.
Do you all use your own putters ???
They do not.
If you want to know the history just ask 3 times in the first 4 holes.
The grounds here are really pretty, but the course really needs a ton of TLC. Makes me a little sad every time you're here, to see it slowly decaying.
