Team no cold oatmeal over here! Only recipe I liked was with frozen fruit thawed out on the bottom. Now with the fall I make a lot in the crock pot and my family of 6 serves themselves. I leave a "oatmeal bar" of toppings out. Nice warm breakfast in the morning
I used to hate oatmeal/porridge, but I've really gotten into overnight oats. My favourite overnight oats is a Tiramisu flavour - it’s incredible! Oh to have this much pantry space. Sigh...lol. I only have a small cabinet. But I love watching these types of videos (any of Jessica's videos actually). I get to dream... 🥰
I love watching your videos. You are so down to earth and watching your videos gives me a sense of normalcy in a year that is anything but normal. Also, love Thrive Market!! 😁
For the brown sugar, keep a piece of bread on top of it. We usually always take the heels of a loaf and put them in there and it always keeps the brown sugar soft.
Hi Jessica! The one brown sugar storage method that’s always worked for me is putting a ziplock back over the opened brown sugar bag. Then rubber banding it and turning and storing it upside down. I hope the way I explained it makes sense. I’ve done this for years and my brown sugar never hardens. :) I love your videos, they’ve been keeping me company postpartum during feedings and cuddles.
Awesome video as always, I am LOVING the vlog style videos from you lately. Can't wait for more. Brown sugar is such a pain to try and keep in a container, put a slice of bread (or one at the bottom, one at the top if it's a large amount) and that will definitely help keep it fresh and from drying out into one hard lump.
@@veronicapenamedina436 I think it's probably the same really, what do people put in a pantry? Maybe I'm just used to fitting everything in my kitchen!

This totally motivated me to clean out my pantry. It’s something I’ve been putting off for too long and I feel so much better now that it’s cleaned out. Thank you!
Bread in the brown sugar is a quick fix! And there are these little clay things that go in the bottom of the container, and those work pretty well for me!
I use a label maker and print a label with either the date I opened it or the expiration date. I stick that label on the back or bottom of the container so I can keep track of food expiring.

I keep brown sugar in the freezer. I seal it up tightly with a zipper bag and just take it out a little ahead of time to use it. The moisture can’t evaporate out if it’s frozen in!
When ur brown sugar dries out, put a slice of bread in the container. The moisture from the bread rehydrates the sugar. You can also store the sugar in the fridge. This keeps it from drying out too
when I add peanut butter to my overnight oats I do it in the morning. I don't let it sit in the oats overnight. I use 1/2 cup oats and 1/2 cup almond milk. that seems to be there perfect amount for me. I use organic coconut sugar or a little maple syrup for a sweetener. A banana is a must for me in my oats. adds a little sweetness too. I have been eating overnight oats every morning for months now. xo
I love that you reused a rice container. Going out to buy all new containers (like The Home Edit) isn't doable for everyone. I reuse jars and vessels like no ones business. Plus, reusing plastic jars like that is awesome if you want to buy from the bulk section since the plastic is so light weight (and you could always switch it to glass afterward) And HomeGoods has a great amount of really well priced containers for pantry
Your pantry looks awesome! Good job! I need to go through my cabinets and get rid of some stuff that is so old! It gets easy to forget about these things.
those mason jars you have with the flip lid are way more air right than the OXO ones. I used to keep my brown sugar in the OXO push top, but switched to the mason jar flip lid and have the most fluffy brown sugar ever!
My favorite overnight oats recipe I just kinda made up. It’s simple and minimal but so delish!! I add brown sugar, whatever nuts I have on hand (almonds are my fave) almond milk, and dried cranberries

To keep your brown sugar from getting hard, I have always used the "brown sugar bear" it's a little clay teddy bear. They have them on amazon. Get you a few of those. You will love them! I've used them for many years (as my mom did, also).
I love overnight oats but I always put it in the microwave for about a minute, its sooo much better warmed up, and as far as sweetening it i like using 100% pure maple syrup. The one I have been making alot has been: 1/2 cup oats, 1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk, 1/2 tsp chia seeds, 1/2 tsp maple syrup, 1/2 tsp vanilla extract, 1/2 banana, and chopped walnuts. I will sometimes add some peanut butter, raisins, coconut chips, or chocolate chips. And to keep your brown sugar from getting hard in a container, put 2 or 3 marshmallows in it, it works lol I didn't believe it when I read it somewhere a long time ago but its crazy, sometimes you will need to put some fresh mellows in depending on how often you use brown sugar.

For the brown sugar you have to wet that disk, let the water absorb for 5 min and then actually put it in with the sugar. Like on the sugar itself. You also have to re wet every so often
I need to seriously reorganize and declutter my pantry. This was very motivational. Also, your make up is beautiful in this vlog! The glow is on point!
For my baking supplies I got the Rubbermaid brilliance containers... I think that’s what they’re called. My brown sugar doesn’t get hard, and all other ingredients stay fresh. If it’s been a while since baking I just fluff it with a fork or something and it’s perfect. I saw another comment about the piece of bread and I’ve never done that but it makes sense. I do that when I make cookies!
I’ve never noticed an issue with brown sugar going dry but maybe it’s to do with being in a subtropical climate. However, if it has gone dry if you chuck in a piece of bread in the container it will soften it back up within a few hours. This also works for biscuits/cookies that you want to make soften instead of them being crispy. We do this with our ANZAC biscuits because I love them soft but my mum likes them crispy
We have wired shelves exactly like that in our pantry. But I could not stand them because things seemed to Weeble and wobble if they weren’t wide enough to stay stable on top of the wire shelving. So I had my husband go get some lightweight solid particleboard planks to put on it to make it a solid surface. When we did that though, the particleboard or whatever the stuff was made out of had the scent of vomit to them. Or at least that’s how it translated in my brain. It was so disgusting it eventually went away, but it took me a long time to get used to. Almost to the point of getting rid of it and starting over, but I stayed with it and it went away. We are getting ready to start a very extensive home renovation like, down to the studs and back again, so the pantry this time will be nothing like that. Ha ha I’m so over it. 20 years and I’m done.
Brown sugar tips: - put a slice of bread in (it helps it from drying out) Or 1-2 big marshmallows (does the same) - grab a Sugar Bear. You soak a brown disc thing in water and pop it in the container. Helps from drying out. But bread works the best!
JESSICA!!! throw a slice of white bread in with your brown sugar!!! the best kitchen/food hack i’ve ever learnt... my brown sugar stays soft. i keep it in a plastic container & just throw the bread in with it. switch the bread piece out whenever it’s hard & old.
Oatmeal raisin cookie overnight oats: Oatmeal Milk Maple syrup Dates Raisins Cinnamon Pinch of salt The dates turn into gooey, caramelly bits. It’s nicely sweet. It tastes like cookies. And it’s simple, and good warm or cold.
Recently an overnight oat convert for super quick and filling breakfast. My tips- use the Pyrex 2 cup containers with lids so it is easier to spoon out than digging down in the mason jar, I always heat mine up, drizzling the top with local honey is a great way to sweeten it naturally, plus the local honey helps with allergies🙌🏼
The beginning of the music when you are getting your coffee reminds me of Mister Rogers Neighborhood for some reason! And I’m a Pittsburgher so we take Mister Rogers very seriously! I just have to say that I love your videos and my boyfriend has now started watching some of them with me.
Terracotta discs work AMAZING for keeping brown sugar fresh....has to go in the middle of your brown sugar in the container. Keeps fresh for 3 full months.
In one of your recent videos you mentioned wanting the ND Glam Palette. I got it for my birthday and absolutely love it! It is now my favorite palette. Best shimmers ever! We have similar taste in makeup and I think you would love it! I will get use out of the entire palette for a change. Great for everyday use.
Someone may have mentioned it, but with that kind of mouse, a mouse pad isn't ideal. Better to have a solid color, smooth surface, so the table top is just fine.
Banana foster overnight oats by no spoon necessary (I found on Pinterest) has been my favorite. It is super yummy. It does use run extract but I normally just use whiskey that I have on hand. I’ve been using my salted caramel crown. It only calls for 3 tablespoons of it. But these overnight oats make me actually look forward to the morning which is saying something because I am a big night owl.
Love all of your videos thank you for sharing your life with us! For the brown sugar container I’m not sure if you tried it but that piece typically pops off and you are supposed to soak it in water first! I don’t use the container but I do have one of those terra-cotta discs and it works well. But as others said bread and marshmallows work as well!
Jessica, I used to have the same issue with brown sugar! I bought the terracotta discs from pampered chef. They sit in sugar which is probably the difference. I have not had an issue since!! They were not expensive either. Well worth it!
I love the old navy masks they’re my favorite! I do prefer to hand wash them though, the first time they came out a little weird after going through the washer and dryer - nothing where I couldn’t wear them just oddly wrinkled
Brown Sugar which probably was already mentioned, but also BB&B did have brown sugar bears, which you soak in water every so often and return to container!!
The hard plastic rice container is more likely to actually be recycled than the plastic bag. But I also read that only 9% of plastic is ever really recycled (even if you personally recycle). I personally have to buy some things in plastic since the closest bulk store to be is over an hour away and I don't have a vehicle 😂 so I just try to buy what more likely to be recycled. Or I try to use the plastic containers for tiny kid toys haha.
Do you guys have some fool proof lentil recipes that anyone would love? I want to start incorporating them more into family meals, but right now the only way I can use them is literally in Dump stews where they are essentially "hidden" so that my family will eat them. But I'd like to branch out lol. Love these videos! So inspired to reorganize my train wreck of a pantry now. 😅 Thanks for the video! ❤😁
I think you have to soak the brown sugar disk in water periodically. I know with the brown sugar bear I have to. About every quarter I would say, and it works. 😊😉
Best overnight oats recipe is super simple. Parboil steel-cut oats for 3 minutes in about a cup less water than the normal 4:1 ratio, cover, leave em overnight. Then every morning you can add milk, brown sugar, pumpkin, whatever you want.
For you brown sugar soak the ceramic disk in water overnight and then put it back on. It will add moisture to your brown sugar. Soak again any time you notice it starting to get dry. I have the same container and ceramic piece and it is the only thing I have found that works.
Put a piece of bread in with your loose brown sugar and it will keep it moist. We try to change it out anytime we go to use the brown sugar or about once a month. You can even use the heel of the bread so you're not wasting a piece you'd otherwise use for eating. Fun fact: this same method also helps keep cookies chewy.

Brown sugar tips:
- put a slice of bread in (it helps it from drying out)
Or
1-2 big marshmallows (does the same)
- grab a Sugar Bear.
Oatmeal raisin cookie overnight oats:
Oatmeal
Milk
Maple syrup
Dates
Raisins
Cinnamon
Pinch of salt
The dates turn into gooey, caramelly bits.
This video is so satisfying to me. Nice job! I love Thrive so much and the prices are great.
Thanks for sharing!❤️
In one of your recent videos you mentioned wanting the ND Glam Palette. I got it for my birthday and absolutely love it! It is now my favorite palette. Best shimmers ever! We have similar taste in makeup and I think you would love it! I will get use out of the entire palette for a change. Great for everyday use.
Put a slice of bread in the brown sugar. It keeps it from getting hard.
My grandma and mom always did this and now so do I. Totally works.
The trick for brown sugars is a piece of white bread in the container! Just stick a piece of bread on top and seal the container and you’re golden!
Love the old navy masks!!! If you need them smaller just put them in the dryer after you wash and they fit perfectly
I have been following u since 3 yrs now and it’s good to see u use and promote organic products now.
Hey Jess! Size up one or two sizes for old navy toddler clothes. They shrink on the first wash a lot and they already run small usually 💕
The Old Navy masks are awesome! I bought the kid’s some too and they fit great!
My favorite th-cam.com/video/-7U5WTrhknY/w-d-xo.html
The easiest thing I do with lentils is just add some in when I make rice. Adds some protein and honestly still pretty much just tastes like rice. 🙂
So excited for an Old Navy haul! Watching! You definitely have my attention!
I find these videos really comforting
your makeup in the beginning is STUNNING! I need that tutorial!
For you brown sugar soak the ceramic disk in water overnight and then put it back on. It will add moisture to your brown sugar. Soak again any time you notice it starting to get dry. I have the same container and ceramic piece and it is the only thing I have found that works.
I started added vanilla extract into my oatmeal whenever I make it. It is an absolute game changer!
i ate overnight oats alot when i was in college! i used maple syrup and blueberries, and added more almond milk than most recipes call for.
I need your pantry and organization. I love a good organized pantry! It's the little things lol
Yep. I have like 20+ masks, live in Oregon, and wash/go through them so much!
My daughter was watching some of her TH-cam videos yesterday and I saw an ad for thrive market pop up and it was just you! I was like, “Holy crap it’s Jessie! She’s one of my favs!!” 😂😂
