I bought the Steve Adams book, as recommended. It really is fabulous. I'm intending the move into A-level teaching and wanted to refresh my memory. The book is really well written, and is very interesting - even to an expert myself!
I’m in year 11 now and I LOVE physics. I have einsteins book on relativity, Leonard susskinds books on classical field theory and special relativity, a brief history of time, a few astrophysics books and an actual physics book that explains things in much easier terms. Do you think that the feynman lectures on physics are good?
do you think you can make an A* In Physics video? what i have done is made notes based on past paper mark schemes. like i believe that one may know his physics, but if they dont use the right words they wont get anything in an exam. thats why i have made my notes according to mark schemes and examiner reports. i dont know if this is right (as there is a new spec ) but physics is physics it wont change between exam boards and specs lol
Hi ! I am doing CIE A level can anyone suggest be the best book for it and revision guide and if not , can I use the ocr and AQA books for cie because I believe that whatever the book is but the knowledge is same everywhere .
OCR have a Revision Guide published for the new syllabus for both of the years which makes it a lot more manageable to revise for 2 year's worth of work. Not sure if you've had a chance to look at it yet(I believe it was only recently released). The information is more concise; it tells you all the need to know as opposed to nice to know and need to know, although it doesn't include any experiments which is a bit disappointing. It has practice questions as well for each chapter set out in the form of the new exams - multiple choice and more in-depth longer answer type questions! I would definitely recommend it. It has become an invaluable resource for my revision : )
I am doing A level Physics (edexcel) and finding it really hard. I undertand what the book has to say but the sample questions seem to deviate a lot from the spec. Any suggestions for this exam board?
m9u7shuriken I'm also studying Edexcell's course (in my own time) and have noticed this tendency. I hope it's just coincidence because it would be worrying if it's a trend with their stuff. You could try testing yourself with exam papers you can download from their site and use their answer sheets to get an idea of what the exams expect you to know, and you should be able to use that to inform your studies.
m9u7shuriken u must be using the endorsed edexcel phy book, if so, do NOT rely on it. I dont even understand why it was ever endorsed by edexcel in the first place because it definitely does not have the amount of detail we all need to know. Also its not good at alll for builiding concepts. However you shouldn't completely ignore it either, because the HSW section is quite important+some experimental diagrams/descriptions. If u want bettr understanding i suggest you shud check out physicsclassroom.com its awesome for building concepts. And then when you're satsified, start with pastpapers.
Great video. Request for something similar for next level, for those preparing for science and engineering careers and may have to sit for competitive exams, for example, entry into engineering. Individuals will map it to their required syllabus.
Hi, I am self teaching my self A level Physics, i have the AQA CGP a level physics revision guide, however i am not sure if it would help to buy a text book as well to gain thorough understanding of the content. I am not sure which textbook would be the best considering that i already have a AQA endorsed revision guide. A level physics by Roger Muncaster, or A level physics by hooder education (and these are expensive). All replies would be really really appreciated!
I am giving my IAL examinations this coming May,I have the theoretical stuff sorted out,but I am having a hard time answering the questions of the past papers properly, any suggestions?
How do you rate the quality of the answers pages in the Hodder AQA year one book? I ask since I actually started with a Hodder book for the Edexcell year one course, and a good chunk of the answers for activities and general questions are either inaccurate at best, or sometimes outright demonstrably wrong which has caused me to ditch it since I'm always forced to second guess it (I'm teaching myself so it helps if the book is right of course).
i just bought 'What Do You Care What Other People Think?': Further Adventures of a Curious Character, by Richard Feynman. I listened to "surely you're joking Mr.Feynman" on audible and enjoyed every moment of it so i decided to buy his next sort of "story" book however i was struggling to decide on this book or "six easy pieces". After watching this video i definitely will read the latter after "What Do You Care What Other People Think?". Thanks for the great recommendation and can you recommend any good mathematical books? I have just started further maths and I am enjoying it so much :D
peggyplays I've not read that book yet- I'll look out for it. It is so important to read around the subject and become more interested in it. I don't have any maths book to recommend I'm afraid.
I just started year 12 and will hopefully have a book being read at all times, also i highly recommend that you read "surely you're joking Mr.Feynman", Its more of a story telling book about ventures he lead through out his life- from him fixing radios as a teen to working on the Manhattan project. I am also considering doing an extended project qualification on a physics subject, possibly Nuclear fusion reactors. Do you think that this would benefit me while applying to university along side my a-level physics, maths and further maths?
I'm currently doing edexcel a level physics. Do you recommend just reading the textbooks and making notes or are there other methods you could use to retain all the information?
im a high schooler in a different country. I want to drop out of my high school and pursue A levels while reading books to gain a better knowledge and prepare myself. I want to learn physics but unfortunately I havent really been able to learn it thoroughly since I keep moving. im a super novice and want to get an A or A* in about 2 or 3 years or so. What sorts of books would you recommend for complete beginners to get a understanding of the basic principles
muhammad shahid hmm sorry I dont have any pdf versions but look for edexcel textbooks on mechanics and further maths mechanics maybe try and get ebooks off amazon or the old spec textbooks from ebay (m1 m2 m3)
Anyone know what a good textbook to use for aqa a level physics. I just done my first yr as exams for AS physics, but the textbook I had wasn't amazing. You guys know any good textbooks and reading books?
Hey, I was wondering if you had any suggestions for AQA textbooks? I'm currently doing a level physics and I'm not sure which textbook is best as there is so many!

Hi, really helpful video! I have a question: i am a high school student at my 4th of 5 years (in italy) and i want to study Physics at Uni, but all the physics theachers i had in the past 3 years and the one i have this year were pretty useless and we as a class are really arretrate in physics. i want to know if i need to study again from scratch the whole physics high school program in order to survive in uni (and if this is the case, what textbooks would you suggest) or if i can just have good maths and start physics at uni from a low level. thanks!
Referring to Roger Muncasters, A level book. Would it be fine to make personal notes from the CGP AQA guide, and then just literally read the A level Physics book by Roger? Or would it be fine as well, to take notes from his book as well.
The more you read the more you are exposed to different ways of explaining the same concept which really helps with your understanding. It's similar to the way that the more teachers (or videos) you listen to the more you start to understand the topic. It's the process of actively taking notes that allows you to order your thoughts and begin to understand the topics so this is better than just reading.
Would u recommend me to buy A level physics by roger muncaster for CIE A level? please reply sir.i need to know badly! thanks you for ur cooperation and lovely video
Which one would you recommend for an adult with a BSc and MSc in unrelated fields but is considering learning physics part time and doing A levels. Mind you this person has done physics in secondary school but it was over 10 years ago lol 😅
Qiraht Analuam I do like the CGP revision guides, and my students do use them. But if you want the higher grades you have to be reading textbooks that explain the underlying physics in more detail and give more complicated examples.

Hodder education have a series of books on AQA phyiscs and chemistry but my physics spec of OCR and that's the one that they don't have, does the AQA course overlap enough for me to buy those books? Also do you know why they may have not published a physics workbook even though they have already published chemistry and biology workbooks?
Ronnie Slowinski Hey, I'm studying ocr and I found a work book on amazon that comes from oxford but isn't specifically ocr. It's by T.L.Lowe and it goes way beyond my spec and has hundreds of practice questions, so maybe this one would be helpful to you? I've found it really useful.
