  • In this video I run a 120 volt GAF View-Master Rear Screen Projector from a 220 volt wall socket.
At first I thought the box said 120 volt and 3 amps, so I bought me a 500 watt transformer. At closer inspection, it said "point three" amps, so that may be a bit overkill, but the transformer manual says it can't hurt to have a bit of a buffer.
These are the steps demonstrated in the video:
    1. Unwind the cord
    2. Place the projector on a convenient flat surface
    3. Make sure that the air intake openings on the bottom and the grille on the top are unobstructed
    4. Switch the input voltage selector at the back of the transformer to 220 volts
    5. Plug the rear screen projector into the 110 volt output
    6. Insert the reel with the letter "P" on top, facing the front of the projector. Move the lever all the way down to position the first slide, and raise the lever gently. (Don't let it snap back)
    7. Switch the transformer on
    8. Use the handle(*) on top of the projector to focus. (* the one with the "gaf" logo and the words "View-Master Rear Screen Projector)
It was fun playing with this toy, but I'm not keeping it. (I have no space for it in my tiny house)
So if you are watching this in 2023, it might still be for sale. Go to etsy.com and look for a shop called "axolectar" for this and other View-Master items.

Do you know how to fix this type of projector when it doesn’t properly slide?

No I'm sorry. I only had this thing for a short while. Sold it. There's a Facebook group called "The View-Master club". Maybe you could ask there.
