      He was asking Tarantino about violence in movies, a question that he has been answering for over 20 years. He even stated in that interview that there is nothing more to know about his opinion on the matter and has repeatedly stated he has no interest in the topic. The guy literally asked generic questions, he either didn't do his research(proof of a poor interviewer) or he purposely made it the focus of the interview to get a rise out of him. Either way its a godamn shame that Tarantino did an interview and we lost a chance to get any real insight into his movie or views because this guy is shit at his job or because he is hack that cares more about getting publicity instead of an insightful interview.

      Because he isn't Mike Wallace asking the tough questions. He's a moron asking really stupid questions. He generally has no knowledge of the person he's talking to (example: He wasn't aware that they just finished shooting this film in the past week. That's something a decent interviewer will learn in advance of the interview), and insults their and our intelligence.

    I'd love to see Scorsese direct Moby Dick. With Daniel Day Lewis playing Ahab and Leo playing Ishmael. All Scorsese's themes are there - pride, greed, Biblical allusions spliced with the American experience. And what a salient moment to make a new version of Moby Dick - with America sailing a dangerous course with a megalomaniac at the wheel.

    • @sberu9528
      @sberu9528 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      What a great comment, you've got cogent cinematic references with literary allusions and come full circle to politics, in the spirit of the interview and Marty's POV. Yeah I like that, Ahab and Trump, side by side, at the helm of the ship of state. I wonder is there any way to work Deniro in there as moby dick? Maybe the righteous voice of moby dick?......Maybe not. Be that as it may, I notice the ALTWRONG crew and their criticisms; "well yeah, he's a good moviemaker but he don't know nuthin about politics." It's tuff when an insightful, intelligent, articulate culture hero comes out against your guy. No hatred, no lies, no conspiracies, nothing you pray he doesn't mean. Just straight, this is how I feel with some historical references thrown in to shed further lite. Nice work Trev and way to go Marty, Moby Dick before you stop being ambulatory?

You picked the two most obvious actors associated with Scorsese (other than the the real one, De Niro) and try to justify the film making some banal social comment. What a truly horrible SJW type film that would make, obviously one you'd like to see! And unlike the other reply by the genius Batta Beru, you DO NOT have ANY cognitive cinematic references, actually no references were made at all! LOFL, where do you people come from????

      @widM_ 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Not that kind of movies? What? He's one the most influential directors of all time, his movies changed the perspective and aspect of the film. The way he was making movies and marked the film history can easily change your life and your way of thinking, your aspect on film, art or life. It's not about type of movies and the content like only some life lessons dramas can change your life. It's the same way like Pulp Fiction completely changed the game in film industry and influenced people. There are movies that give you something valuable, encourage and inspire you and with that can also change your life regardless if it's considered fun flick or if it's not.

    • @armensog87
      @armensog87 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I see, ok. That's not how I view art and imagery, but I understand what makes you say that. I completely agree that Quentin influenced the movie history, but I would never consider him an influential person spiritually and in general and would never show his movies to anyone as something human race can boast of. While Martin is better on that front, the same pretty much goes for him. But hey, I never liked Kubrick as well, so to each his own.

      then again It's pitifully obvious from which sources you get your "news" -- sources which have been proven dishonest & complicit in the Clinton campaign. You've displayed cognitive dissonance in each of your replies, and you're dismissive of a large portion of the US. If you're so smart, perhaps in the future your side can formulate a strategy to win. Better go, Huffington Post just released another well-researched, bipartisan article.

      Best movie the 80s...Raging Bull, Best movie of the 90s...Good Fellas....4 or 5 other great movies in his career run.Who is better? Possibly Speilberg
      As to Robert D, lately has nothing to do with it, hmm lets list his films...Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, Good Fellas, God Father II.....name an actor with a better resume than that!
      Your talking about the best of the best here, all round. Plus you need to look at how these artists interact together. Robert D and Pacino in HEAT....Scorcese Robert D and Joe P in Raging Bull and Good Fellas etc.
      There are winning combos everywhere here. This is a potential best picture, best director, best actor, best support actor film. I would put money down even this early that the film will receive more than one Oscar nomination and will probably win something at the Oscars.
      Will get back to you later when that happens :))

    I love Scorsese (not his politics). But I always wondered Why he chose "Silence".
    I had to read that years ago as a religion major; about apostasy, a Portuguese monk, solitary confinement, loneliness, and God not answering (Silence)
    Good luck . Hope it's not another broad "Gangs of New York" type reinterpretation. Deep, introspective literature (ex: " The Last Temptation of Christ"; "Angela's Ashes") often can't translate well to screen.

    A twisted film 'Silence', with all its beauty and powerful imagery, and evocation of persecution, which happens today . I have an inkling that Hollywood and materialism has poisoned Martin's faith (I fear, I hope I'm wrong). He, like some characters in the film, may have been forced to trample on icons for far too many times - and now he is muddled. Anybody can apostatize under terrible torture, like the protagonist, but cannot be put on the service of monsters for all his life, spying for them, or writing books against his religion. He would've asked to leave the country, or at least profess his faith just before dying, in some way (what's the use of the crucifix in the end, if nobody saw it?). The film's ending is wrong, because the director himself has been too heavily comprised as a person (in all humility)
