    This is actually really informative because the way I was taught to use a shield was very different. Although it was one of the compact sized "bomb suppression blanket" shields so that might be the reason.

    I always been a sucker for shields. This man is my new idol. The way he reloads is unreal. I love the mind game that comes with shield use. I also love the symbol of the shield, the ultimate protection tool.

    Damn, as a civilian I never even thought about the complications of running a shield. Bill has some excellent knowledge

      There aren't many people with as much experience in this as him. Don't forget those shields are rather heavy at 15lbs for pistol and 25+ for rifle. Many of the suspension systems out there end up being hazardous to yourself

    Did you just dremel a channel into the back of the holster to get the X400 to fit? Great video we are introducing more shields into our team tactics.

    Not a fan of the shields with the rifle rests?
    Any thoughts on rifle rated shields? They're about twice the weight and price but I'm concerned about the possibility of encountering a rifle.

    Do you wear a plate carrier when you use a shield? Also what happens or what is the back up plan for a failure with a shield? Do you just switch to your pistol and hang back? Do you have a back up rifle set up for that?

      Anthony Ventura I would not be using a shield as a single dude. In conjunction with other swat dudes with rifles. So if we are engaged everyone that can will be returning fire.

    Would it be a bad idea to have your second handgun at the 12 o’clock position like you are concealed carrying? That way you can shoot dominant hand on both guns. Or even just add it. Cops will go through mags like crazy in gunfights, unlike most civilian self defense incidents. I’m sure it might be a bit heavy, but u can replace a mag slot or 2 and it’s easier to switch weapons one handed than it is to reload.

    I need this for home defense, against robbers, alien abductions, or just anything. I may be a bit paranoid, but it's better to be safe than sorry.

    What Light and Laser is he using?In my knowledge there is no light/laser combination that fits in a safariland ALS holster

    • @SureFireLLC
      @SureFireLLC  6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I believe Bill modified the Safariland 6354DO with a slot to accommodate the X400U. You can see the slot at 1:56 in to the video.

      SureFire is right, recently turned on to their Masterfire holster and this may be a great rig for a shield dude in combination with X400U for shield dudes. Gotta put some licks on it first but it seems promising.

    What's your opinion of the FN 5.7 pistol for shield guys? Good mag capacity as standard and good penetration is why I ask

    • @benayakeenanhutagalung9798
      @benayakeenanhutagalung9798 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agreed, but even though its 5.7 would the barrel have the same length?? And both of the 9mm and 5.7 round have the same blackpowder weight?? So it wouldnt be very effective as a regular rifle round??

    Not a fan of shields. I understand the purpose but instead of hip firing a handgun, I’d rather put accurate fire down range with a rifle. Just my preference.

    • @deank5649
      @deank5649 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      That's the Assualters role the shield has a specific purpose (armed barricaded suspect breach for example) and takes a certain skillset an mentality to run well. If your on team just don't volunteer to be the shield guy LOL.

    • @user-ni3sp5mz4u
      @user-ni3sp5mz4u 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Unfortunately you don't get a preference as to where your bad guys gonna be. You prefer he be downrange at rifle distance, but guess what he's hiding around the next door. Now what are you gonna do with your rifle and no shield?

    • @rustyshackleford17
      @rustyshackleford17 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Then you're not supposed to be the shield guy. They do play an important role. Unfortunately, they're the guys that'll probably have bullets put on them first.
