Another "fun" fact about the Scaffold match: Vinnie Massaro (a friend of Grimes) moved the ring underneath the scaffold with some other guys. Grimes asked Massoro before the match about the bump and got told they'd need to move the ring. Grimes was against it, but Massaro did it anyway and saved his life.

He autographed a few things for me like a barbed wire bat, photos taken together, and my favorite my XPW copy of his scaffold match with Vic Grimes, he autographed it: "Bombs Away Mfer, New Jack"
The New Jack/Vic Grimes feud I feel is one of the best. Not so much for the wrestling but the legitimate intent to cause harm. Vic Grimes being scared of heights yet taking that dive is one of the greatest things I've ever seen.
They had some trashy characters who i liked. Crack and Angel for example, Supreme and Kaos were good too. Plus the Extreme Associates girls were a good addition, especially Kristy Mist and Jessica Darlin. The problem was Rob Black was a big Messiah mark, and Messiah was boring as hell and was pushed like Hulk Hogan.
2:30 - It didn't help that the setup of the spot was so poor with no real secure footing and that's probably why Vic Grimes got scared in the first place.

Here's the thing about the "is it an act or not" question: if your act gets three people (Vic Grimes, Mass Transit and that kid with the gangsta gimmick) almost killed, then it got out of control. Shit like this is the reason why the old school way of treating rookies is dying, because we can't have another guy like New Jack taking liberties to this degree. If it was an act, it's an act that got too far. It's one thing to be a Bruiser Brody and be occasionally uncooperative, it's another to deliberately sever a guy's artery or legit stab your opponent in the gut.

If Grimes was stun gunned as a shoot, he would be dead weight, New Jack would not be able to throw him off the scaffold, but not only Grimes got on his feet, he cooperated on the spot by ruinning and jumping. It was Grimes who botched the jump and missed the set of tables.
It's so hard not to love new jack. You hear and see all this crazy shit he's all about and gets wrapped up into but when you get shoot interviews and see the real man he's just dripping charisma and one of the coolest nicest guys out there. One of my favorite was when Jim Cornette was famously talking crap on New Jack for months and he finds him doing an interview in a hotel room and bursts in with his partner singing "why can't we be friends?" Now even the famously prickly prick Cornette can't help but show him love when talking about him even while criticizing. I'm not taking away from the awful shit he did but just hope people realize he's a way more complicated dude then just a crazy jerk. RIP my dude.
