The journey to Tara National Park | What the countryside in Serbia is like

  • This is the first time I was able to get deep into the heart of Serbia to discover what the interior of the Country is like. To explore the rugged mountain ranges and take in the scenic vantages while being on the ground. It was truly a wonderful experience. It was so close to resembling the Pacific Northwest in the USA, I almost felt I was there. I had heard from many travelers how beautiful Tara National Park was, but until you see this place first hand, it is hard to imagine. I had been on a hike with another foreigner to explore the area. It was about a 3-4 hour bus ride from Belgrade to Užice by taking two buses. The entire trip was about 4.5 -5 hours and cost about $10-$12 USD. Then I rode a taxi to the top of the mountain to see the vantage of amazing Tara National Park in all of its glory. Check it out!

    Tara mountain is home of endemic plants , older then last ice age. Also it is a brown bear teritory so make a lot of noise when walking through the forest.

    Those 2 boys playing the music are gypsies. Many of them go into that profession and play at weddings and other places. In fact, many singers in Serbia are of Rom origin especially of yesteryear.

    Could also be related to Taranis the Celtic Thor, which was probably the same "God" as Thor. Thor is pronounced whithout the "h" like a lot of words in old Celtic or Gaelic (Gathelic). Illyrians were also big around there who are always referred to as "ancient Greeks". Usually, when they use that term it is another word for Phoenicians, not always, but often. Illyrians mixed in with the Celts and were still called Illyrians (the same people who mixed back in).

    • @frostflower5555
      @frostflower5555 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Could be from the same god Thor. Nobody knows the origins. Could also be related to the Tatra mountains between Slovakia and Poland. A lot of names that you find in Serbia are also found north to them like Morava river in Slovakia.

    • @richardm893
      @richardm893 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@frostflower5555 Could also be related to the name Sara or Tsara a mountain south of there. For all we know it could be related to the Sava river too. Ive noticed that many names the Celts gave to European rivers, mountains and cities are usually left out of the subject. For instance Sofia, Bulgaria was a Celtic city (Serdica). I lived there for a year and never knew that. Why is it not important to know the first inhabitants of Europe?

    Odd its named "Tara" like Tara in Ireland. The Scordisci, a Celtic tribe were all over Serbia. I wonder if they named it. Cant find any etymology of the name so its possible it is related.
