    Keep the x300 far superior tractor than any D model.take care of it and will outlast a D130 any day

    17hp is plenty of power to mow grass. I use a 1983 Simplicity 10hp and it mows fantastic. You are falling for marketing ploys. HP ratings are gimmicks.

    A 17hp is way to small?? I mow with a 14hp. I can mow anything you can with a larger engine. It's about torque not hp. Unless you're running heavy implements such as a tiller. You don't need 25hp to mow grass. I mowed with a 10hp for years.

      Exactly. I got 8 hp and have a 48 inch deck. Nothing to do with hp.

    We have a 2011 X300 with 865 hours on it, and so far it’s had one complete engine rebuild, one new mower deck, numerous mower deck V-belts, changed the drive belt a number of times which is quite difficult to do, 😤 it needs a new drivers seat, and the hood completely disintegrated. We cut a lot of grass with it and it handles fairly thick grass quit well. As of a couple of days ago one of the ignition coils died which now needs to be replaced, the motor is not happy about that! The engine is definitely starting to wear out so I’m now looking into buying a new motor for it. But just like the energizer bunny it just keeps on running! 👍🏻👍🏻

      I started taking care of my Mother's property about ten years ago when her husband was no longer able to, due to health conditions. She has a 2008 x320 which was purchased brand new. The only thing I have done was routine oil changes, air filters, spark plugs, gas filters, replace or sharpen blades, grease all the fittings, etc... have never had to replace a belt yet, but I know it's coming. As well as trying to change the trans fluid in their sealed and "unserviceable" trans. It's the k58 ( ( I may be wrong on the number, k56?) But I know it's not the problematic k46. It has over 500 hundred hours and is still running strong. Mostly flat to slight hilly area, but few areas steep, but short travel..

    HP numbers are pretty much a marketing number anyways. Unless it's the same engine brand and model range, you aren't comparing apples to apples. 17hp is more than enough to run a 42" finish mower, especially on properties that are mowed regularly. That said, the Briggs twins on the 100 series machines ARE noticeably more powerful, but they do not normally outlast those Kawaski twins on the higher models. You touched on the better steering feel and operator controls, but I'm surprised you didn't notice how much more responsive and precise the X300 transmission controls are vs the 100 series. The trans itself is better than the one in the D130 for sure, and there are multiple smaller upgrades that contribute to better overall reliability, especially if you are putting more than 1-2 hours a week on the machine. The X300 should be much more maneuverable than a D100 series machine, with similar wheelbase and track widths. The X300 is intentionally styled to -look- bigger than the 100 series machines as nobody wants to spend $3,000 on a machine that looks the same size or smaller than the $2,000 machine sitting next to it.

    My x300 has a 48” deck. The Kawasaki v twin seems to have plenty of power. I just picked it up used from a friend that bought it new. I like the x300 just because I hate Briggs and Stratton engines that many lawn tractors come with. How much do you sell these for typically?

    The motors are out of control HP wise and purely for marketing. I mowed my acre with a 12.5hp Briggs for years and years. These big motors just burn more gas and a lot of it.

    The k46 transmission is too weak for a supposedly semi commercial mower. At 2 grand in Australia to replace

    It’s strange that your height adjustment knob is so loose. The one on my 2015 x300 is pretty solid.

    Other than my cowl splitting in half, my bagger falling apart, two sets of bearing and not being able to mow my lawn if the grass is damp. It’s a great mower.

    So I’m actually being given one of these from my boss that hasn’t ran it in like 3 years. Anything I should be looking for when I get it? I’m assuming it has gas in it still so drain the gas, new carb, belts and battery and should be good to go yea?

    • @benslawncare5773
      @benslawncare5773  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Belts shouldn’t really be a issue as it’s relatively new, you could try starting it the way it is but it will definitely need a jumpstart, but draining the fuel first may be a good idea

    • @Coleburgess09
      @Coleburgess09 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@benslawncare5773 drained the gas and did a routine maintenance on it with oil change, fuel filter, oil filter, air filter and spark plugs. Still couldn’t get it to turn over. just got it back from the dealership in our area actually. New carb was needed they said it was insanely gummed up it was trashed. Went ahead and did new fuel lines and all just to start fresh.

      Check the oil, do a tune up, check for anything broken, make sure everything is on top shape, keep covered when not in use, and that’s what I think. Also Sharpen blades..!

    Does the x300 mow in reverse??

    • @caseih-pz9vp

      yes it will mow in reverse it a what they call a RIO I put a jumper wire on it to bypass it. There are videos on how to by pass them. I would by a used X320 or X380 before I would by a new 100 or 200 series

    I purchased my X300 in 2018. Since that time I have paid for the mower twice over in repairs. 6 thrown belts, clutch replacement, steering replacement. This does not include the completely destroyed seat which I refuse to replace. I will never buy a John Deere product again.

    Cette tondeuse autoportée ne peut pas évacuer l'herbe correctement car son orifice de sortie est trop petit et le ventilateur n'est pas efficace. Une solution est de tondre votre gazon tous les 3 jours (2 jours au printemps) afin de tondre une très faible quantité de gazon. Si vous attendez une semaine l'orifice de sortie de l'herbe se bouchera sans arrêt. Conclusion: cet engin est fait pour tondre lorsque vous n'avez pas d'herbe, une machine pour tondre dans le desert !!!

  • @JesseCase
    @JesseCase 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hells no it ain't worth the price! All of those puke green machines are extremely overpriced! They are definitely good tractors, but they aren't quite as good as JD thinks they are when they decide to determine their price. I would love to have an older 400 series GT or newer X700 series GT, but unless I find a used one at a reasonable price I'll never own one because I would never ever consider paying what they want for a new one!! Plus they have one huge downfall which is that they aren't orange as we all know that all real tractors should be! Orange Tractor Pride, all day everyday!!!
