When designing my van, there were a few things that were really important to me:
    - sleep space
    -cook space
    -bike space!!
Today we are taking a look at the amazing solution that I found for handling my bike space in a neat and organized way all while having them stored safely inside the van and with easy access for rides. I got this idea from a blog called Far Out Ride in which the owners created a sliding tray for 2 bikes leaving plenty of room on the tray for wheels and riding gear. Although I chose to modify the build, linked above are their awesome detailed instructions.
I couldn't be happier with how this build came out, and much of that is thanks to Johnny over at the Crafted Workshop channel, so if you enjoy making things, definitely give his channel a look.
    LFRHGS!
    Alexander
p.s. Did I hear someone say shuttlecock? Stay tuned for the next update of the van build coming next Tuesday as I make the van more "shuttle friendly!" :P

Looks good. Did you blue loctite the fasteners holding the slides on? Especially with wood, those will vibrate loose fairly easily

    • @craftedworkshop

Gifford Holmquist thanks! I used lock washers.

Crafted Workshop based on past experience you might be better served with a fender washer and a nylok nut or blue loctite

I was going to reply the same because the tray's bottom seems like a nice way to break a few fingers bones while closing up Betty before a ride while talking w other riders.... At least a handle attracks the subconscious and avoid placing the fingers in the slicer

I suggest adding a washer between the brass handle and plyboard to distribute the weight, like you did with your axle mounts. It's tight now but over time the brass handle will dig into the soft plyboard and get wobbly.

You should make a medal or wooden bar so when you shut the back doors you can climb through the back and put the bar up to lock the doors up at night so you don’t have to worry about anybody breaking in or install a bike lock inside cause if you travel a lot and you pack expensive stuff like bikes you need to be protected

Are any of those bikes 29'ers? Not a lot of handlebar clearance, and I'm sure at some point you're going to have 29'ers in there. It shouldn't be a huge difference, but they will likely sit a little higher.
One other thing might be nice. You might try to find some rubber flooring, maybe like a truck bed liner, and cut it to fit those trays. That way you can just pull them out, hose them off and let them dry, and they're good as new without having to expose the wood to moisture.
Beyond that one concern about height...looks amazing man! It's nice to have a guy helping who really knows what he's doing!
