    Lol the constant moving of the truck to get it right was hilarious, 100% can relate.

    I don't have it on this trailer yet, but last one had a 2" reciever hitch on it to use a hitch plate mount. Use it in your truck when trailer isn't on, remove to deter theft. I use electric fork lift quick connector to hook up power in either application. You can add a battery if need be on the trailer. You can use that connector to help your hydraulic tilt battery live longer and also for your dump trailer. Make a set of jumper cables to plug into it for those side of the busy highway jump starts.

    I have the same ironbull trailer. Great trailer.. I just bought the Badlands winch for 40% off. This is a great idea. I love the support and how you back off the winch. I think I’m going to strap your 2 inch support bar idea but add a receiver hitch so I can move the winch. I need to add more tiedowns inside the wheel well.

    When backing to a trailer. Before you get out, set the parking brake. The truck won't move and will save you 3 trips.

    i have a battery on my trailer in the center of my A-frame. i ran a 4 gauge power lead off my truck batteries to an Anderson connector to charge the trailer battery and to idle if i need more power when winching something onto the trailer. works great.

      matt72991 I usually keep the battery in the garage on a trickle charge I don’t leave it on the trailer got a hitch pin for quick wench removal to many thieves where I live

    I just run a big winch quick disconnect on my trailer and its wired to the batteries on my tow rig so there's no worry of a dead battery on the trailer. I also made up a set of jumper cables with the same connection on 1 end so I can jump start from the back of the truck or if someone borrows my trailer they can just hook up the jumpers from the trailer to a battery. Its been flawless for years

    Run the power and ground wire out of trailer plug from the truck. Then when ever the truck is hooked up and running it will charge the battery on the trailer

    Tractor supply has nice winch covers that fit the harbor freight winches and aren’t to horribly priced

    Keep battery in the box and away from moisture and dirt. Add to the box top a solar panel and it will keep your battery always charged. There are companies that sell complete kit for this purpose.

    You could install some quick connects, I think they might be plow connections. But I know tow truck use them, so they have the quick connect coming out of their grill and they can plug in a set of jumper cables. This way they can jump a car and not have to pop the hood and hook up cables. You could put the quick connect at the back of the truck and then run (jumper) cables to the winch. Or make a set of quick connect cables that live on the winch. Then you don’t have to worry about mounting and maintaining a battery on the trailer

    Tom. Mount your battery on opposite side of the kick stand. So passenger side of the big jack behind the box. Easy access if ever need to get to it.

    might be late but pro tip when getting your truck ready to hook up from reverse put it in drive then straight to park to prevent it from rocking like that because you had it spot on the first time

    Save space in the box by rotating the jack 90° and store it in place. Also, where is your spare for the trailer?

    I put a agm battery under my trailer on its side it powered the load lights trailer winch and brake away controller all with one battery box has switches in it and it charges off the truck and has 120 converter on it so I just throw a Extension cord on it when I get home

  • @mesanders1113

    Get some thick battery cables and run them to the rear of the truck and a pigtail coming off the winch that way you don't have to mess with a extra battery or charger

  • @tylersarmiento6064
    @tylersarmiento6064 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    You need to come up with something to hook the winch to on the truck so you don't damage any fiberglass pulling it onto the trailer

  • @Traveling_Solo_fg
    @Traveling_Solo_fg 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    n you add a battery Box on that front rail next to that box thats on the front rail , easier for service , protected from rod debris and closer to the winch, , less battery cable to the winch .

  • @smoke_me_broke_pulling_team

    You could mount the battery on the right side of the trailer, opposite your jack parts you want to avoid, hang it in the opening on that side

    Would the battery fit on the passenger side behind the box u mounted? Easy access if u ever need to give it a charge and still out of the way of ur quick release on the jack and leaves the box open for other storage 🤷🏼‍♂️

    I’d put the battery Under the trailer and put a splash shield around it.
    If it’s in plane site it may not stay there long till someone borrows it without asking.

    Winches are the kind of thing that don't work when you need them.
    I got a smitty built winch, welded up a framework sort of like yours, kept the winch off the deck and raised it a bit to give the lead a better angle. After installation played with it and wound it up. Then when I needed to actually use it it was dead. 0 pulls.

    never leave the tailgate down while moving the truck with the trailer attached. Turn and you'll dent the top of the tailgate on that storage box you installed. Found that out the hard way.

    If I had a car trailer I wood do the same winch setup you have on your car trailer I wood put the battery in the tool box and if your wondering what that little black wire is for on the winch that is the ground wire you take the bike Blake wire and the small black wire and you put those 2 Blake wires under the winch Motor and that makes the ground for your winch

    Impressively you had it perfectly lined up when you backed the first time but forgot to account for transmission roll in the gear you were in, little tip, for what it's worth, put it in the opposite gear from what you're in, with your foot on the brake next time and it won't continue to roll when you put it into park, just sayin..
